As a bonafide southerner (represent!) it was quite a journey for me to get to literally the far and of marikina, a city i barely even know and have lunch at Tolit’s KTV Bar. Upon entry i was surprised that the place was quite empty, maybe they closed it for the website Meetup or it just blows up at night but i felt like this was the type of place that comes to life after sunset. Right in the epicentre of sleepy J.P.Rizal St. in Marikina, Tolit’s KTV is almost a year old now and they serve Filipino Food with a modern, continental twist as well as uniquely Markina dishes which they are very proud of. The atmosphere feels very open and festive so it's perfect for sunday lunch as well as after work drinks. Food:👍Tolit’s Salad: Chopped Lettuce and Julienned Carrots alongside a dark, sweet/savory dressing. A little too plain and ordinary for my liking but delicious and filling nonetheless👍👍👍Beef Sinigang sa Bayabas: This dish has a unique aroma that would make you look at the person next to you strangely. Smell aside, this was as authentic as Sinigang could get. The broth still had that signature savory tamarind flavor while the infusion of Bayabas or Guava in the mix brought out a nice fruity and hearty side to the broth. The vegetables were cooked well and not soggy but the beef was a tad bit chewy.👍👍Pinaputok na Tilapia: I couldn’t believe my eyes at how big this piece of tilapia was, before this fish took his last bath in bubbling oil it could probably eat 3 regular sized tilapia for breakfast. Jokes aside, the fish was fresh, light and moist even though it has been deep fried which was perfect dipped into Toyomansi with Chilli.👍👍👍Crispy Pata Kare Kare: This dish is kind of like a cross between two notorious “putok batok” dishes, namely Kare Kare and Crispy Pata. The pork hocks were deep fried to perfection but at the same time i felt like it was lacking on the flavor department so it really needed help from the runny, sunburn orange Kare-Kare gravy which added richness and sweetness. There was also a generous serving of bagoong and vegetables on the side which really allows you to customize how you eat this dish. Its really difficult to go wrong with a crispy twist on every filipino’s favorite comfort food. Good Job!👍👍👍Bulalo Steak: We’re still in experimental/deconstructed territory and this time it's a much more decadent take on the heartwarming Bulalo soup. They took the meat from the bulalo (including the bone marroa) and cooked it in a sizzling plate while they infused a reduced version of the broth into the gravy. Although it might seem too “sinful” for my liking i easily fell loved this dish. I was surprised at how easy it was for me to identify the presence of the flavors of the bulalo even without the soup. However, the bref could have benefited from a longer cooking time. Nonetheless, the meat tasted like it has been simmered in Bulalo Broth for hours while the flavor of the broth was spot on in the mushroom gravy which also had a nice Garlicky flavor. We were also served some dishes that had a twist of Marikina’s culinary creativity.👍👍Pork Sinigang Sa Pakwan: Classic pork sinigang cooked with yellow watermelon. Compared to the Sinigang Sa Bayabas this one was lighter and more fruitier especially with the addition of watermelon as “pampaasim.” The meat was really tender and the flavors of the broth really penetrated into the meat. The supervisor explained that they opted to use Yellow Watermelon instead of the usual red watermelon because it is not as sweet and it didn’t distract from the comforting flavor of sinigang.👍Everlasting: It's adorable that this dish is named like a melodramatic soap opera or the love and attention paid towards crafting the perfect meatloaf. Although i'm not an meatloaf/embutido person, i appreciate the work that is put in towards making this dish. The dish itself was really moist, sweet and juicy and the flavors are quite similar to their cousin, the meatloaf. However what really sets it apart is the more prominent use of pimentos or bell peppers and a hint of tomato sauce or ketchup(?).Dessert👍👍Turon Ala Mode: For dessert we had something a little more simple which is thin turon sticks topped with ice cream and chocolate syrup. The cool and creamy ice cream was perfect with the crunchy and fruity turon. Overall Tolit’s KTV Restobar and Events Place promises a fun and entertaining experience alongside rich and delicious filipino food. Their dishes are perfect for a sit down meal with the family as well as Pulutan during drinks with friends. You can also have Karaoke on their KTV booths as well as hold events like Birthday Parties or Company Parties because the place is fully equipped for entertaining. The service is excellent as well. My only recommendation is that they pay more attention to the details in their food like the cook of the meats so they can take it from ordinary bar chow to premium pulutan. Almost there!

Back with another food review for you guys starting with one of the newest KTV restobar located in Nangka, Marikina, Tolits KTV Restobar & Events Place.Opened in April 2016, Tolits KTV Restobar not only offers different Filipino, American and Italian dishes but also a place to sing you heart out as they have KTV rooms and sometimes even live bands. You can also book them for parties, birthdays, etc as it also an event place that can accommodate lots of guests.Place is located at the 2nd floor Citi Centre Bldg. in Nangka Marikina. It isn’t that hard to find the place as you can simply ride a fx or jeepney with a ”Montalban/San Mateo/Nangka” signage and asked to be dropped off at Parco or Puregold Nangka. When you enter, one can see a bar area which drinks are located. Then you’ll see that there is a stage for bands or events on the middle area. Then there’s also lots of tables and chairs as well the counter as you go along. It’s a huge place which basically can accommodated huge number of people.Place is well kept, clean and the staffs were very polite and friendly.I wasn’t able to take a photo of the full menu but I got a photo of the menu located outside. Here’s what we ate that day:Tolits Chef Special Salad (Php180)- I’m such a huge fan of leafy vegetables salad so I love this one. The lettuce was fresh and crunchy as well as the carrots. I love the dressing were okay though I was looking for a mayonnaise or instead. Price was reasonable for me.Bulalo Steak (Php300)- One of my faves at Tolits!!! I how creamy, garlicky and tasty it is. I love the mushroom gravy and corn along with bone marrow!! I can still imagine the taste while writing this one. Very distinct and a must try. Trust me JCrispy Kare-Kare (Php350)- The Crispy Kare – Kare was indeed crispy though and I like that I can taste the peanut butter on the sauce. The veggies were crunchy and fresh. Though the bagoong, which is the supposed-to-be-highlight of this dish is a bland for me.Crispy Tilapia (Php290)- One of my favorite fish is Tilapia so I love this crunchy tilapia which is indeed crunchy and tasty. Good for sharing though.Binagoongang Platter (Php220)- Their bagoong platter was very tasty and I love how they added a bit of spiciness to this to add a kick.Everlasting (Php310)- One of the Marikina’s specialty, I love how tasty and original this taste is. It’s like an Embutido but a Marikina version. It was sweet and tasty.Pork Sinigang sa Pakwan (Php320)- I grew up in Marikina but this is actually my first time to taste this kind of dish. I love sinigang and I love how mild the sour taste is and the pork was cooked well.Beef Sinigang sa Bayabas (Php300)- First time trying a sinigang sa bayabas so the sour taste is also mild as well. Though I think I liked the Pork Sinigang sa Pakwan better.Turon ala Mode (Php150)- It was served in a vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup. I love how sweet it is.Overall, I had a great time dining here and I think Tolits KTV Restobar is very unique as this place is an ALL-IN-ONE place to eat, dine, chill, sing and have fun. The prices were surprisingly affordable and most of the servings were huge. I love how versatile this place can be and I can definitely recommend this place to everyone. Can't wait to bring back my family and friends here. Thanks to China of website PH and Tolits Marikina for having us! :)

This week, I was invited by China of ZomatoPH to try out the food in Tolits: a restobar located in Nangka, Marikina. The ambiance was quite chic, with the look and feel of a modern restaurant. The indoors were well-lit and spacious too. I must say that the place itself was clean and easy on the eyes.

Hey Marikina Peepz! There's a place in Nangka called Tolits KTV, Restobar and Events Place which can cater your needs for Filipino cuisine ala Marikina style while entertaining yourself with their KTVs and Live Bands at night. Yes, it's a big place, it can accommodate at least 200 pax. They also have KTV rooms, the biggest one can accommodate at least 35 pax.During our visit, we were served the bestsellers of the restaurant for lunch. Pinoy dishes like sinigang, binagoongan, kare-kare, etc. THE FOOD🐮Tolits Chef Special Salad for Php180.00 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5"It was okay, just a normal salad that you can make it at home."🐮Bulalo Steak for Php300.00 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5"It was served in a sizzling plate. Best way to eat the Bulalo Steak while it's hot. The meat tends to get rubbery when it gets cold."🐮Crispy Kare-kare for Php350.00 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5"It's a deconstructed Kare-kare. The Crispy Pata and Steamed Vegetables were separated in the Peanut Sauce. The Shrimp Paste enhance the flavor of the Kare-kare."🐮Crispy Tilapia for Php290.00 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5"The serving of Tilapia was good enough to share. Basically, it's a Deep Fried Tilapia served with Soy Sauce, Calamansi and Chili."🐮Binagoongan Platter for Php220.00 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5"This is my favorite among the dishes we had during our lunch. The Binagoongan Rice was too flavorful. It compliments with the other dishes like Kare-kare and Fried Tilapia."🐮Everlasting for Php310.00 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5"Marikina's version of Embutido. It was served in "lyanera" (commonly used as a container of leche flan)."🐮Pork Sinigang sa Pakwan for Php320.00 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5"It's Marikina's famous dish. Town's version of Sinigang using Watermelon as the "pampaasim". Well this is more lite compare to other Sinigang that uses tamarind as the basic "pampaasim"."🐮Beef Sinigang sa Bayabas for Php300.00 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5"The tangy taste of the soup with a strong guava essence gives more flavor. It's more tasty than Watermelon Sinigang. For me this is much better."🐮Turon ala Mode for Php150.00 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5"Served with vanilla ice cream drizzled with chocolate syrup on top gives more flavor to Turon."Overall, it's a wonderful experience having lunch in Tolits. The service went well. The staff were very attentive at all times.Tolits KTV, Restobar and Events Place is located at Citi Centre Building, JP Rizal St., Nangka, Marikina City.#ilovetoeatph 😃❤️

Experienced the food here and got a taste of Marikina's original food. Tried their own embutido called Everlasting and sinigang na pakwan.Top Picks:1. Bagoong Rice - This tasty rice has a kick of spiciness that I really loved.2. Sinigang sa bayabas (Beef) - I love the fruity guava sourness. A bit more tender beef is ideal for this delicious dish. There are a lot more of dishes to try. I will definitely go back. The place is neat and has a big space. They also have good service. Love it here!China
