What is it with restaurants nowadays serving their food in wooden chopping boards? Lol. Kidding aside, Milieu is one of the new kids on the block that is sure to satisfy any website's growling tummy. We happily devoured on bacon fat fries, buffalo wings, fish n chips sandwich and a slice of chocolate yema cake. All tasted superb although I find them to be a little pricey as compared to the other restos who offer the same menu. I don't consider it a deal breaker, though, especially with how the food looked and tasted.

Ribs, wings, and steaks seem like typical offerings in the Marikina website scene, and I didn't want to expect much from Milieu, having tried several places in Marikina offering similar food options. I went out of my way to try them out and what a happy camper I was afterwards. I will certainly come back for the Applewood Smoked Slab of Bacon, whose mix of flavors - from the thick bacon slices, apple coleslaw, honey dip, and corn with bonito flakes - surely whetted my appetite. The Applewood Smoked Baby Back Ribs was similarly delicious - tender and moist, it's one of the more rib-sy tasting ribs I've tried in a while. The extra order of Meshi rice didn't do much to add to the already satisfying meals we were having; save for the sesame garnish, it merely tasted like rice drenched in soy sauce (it is rice with shoyu, after all). Their Brewed coffee had a pleasantly nutty aroma, tasted slightly acidic, but was okay. The Bread and Butter Pudding with Vanilla Ice Cream was a great way to cap off our meal. The pudding itself was tasty, had some bite to it, and wasn't cloying. The strawberry coulis and caramel sauce drizzle was not excessive.Servers were prompt and responsive. The restaurant sits on a relatively elevated spot and I noticed some passers-by trying to get a glimpse of the resto. The facade cannot be seen clearly because of the cars parked in front. It seems like if the front of the resto were visible enough from the street, Milieu would be able to connect more to potential customers.Update 31may16We came for the ribs and bacon, as well as to try out other dishes. Merry Monday got us a free glass of iced tea with every purchase of a main course. The Shake Meshi was served with properly grilled teriyaki salmon - the fish was juicy and had a lovely crisp beneath the glaze. I found the rice a bit salty, especially since the dish came with soy-wasabi for dipping. The soup for the day was Pumpkin Soup - it was thick and had croutons and tiny bacon cubes. I liked that it was somewhat spicy from the pepper, but I felt that it needed more cream/milk. The price does not justify the amount of soup served which was too scant. The Asian Chicken Salad was similarly small in serving. This tasted odd for me; the sauce was salty, and the grilled chicken was too thin and small. They should've just incorporated the chicken strips into the salad instead of putting the chicken piece on top. I never expected the flavors of mango and soursop to blend well in a smoothie, and Tropical Bliss was both delicious and refreshing.

A few days ago, we went at Milieu in Lilac St Marikina. Their place attracted my attention as it is one of the newest food spot in the area.We went at around 3-4pm and we were the only customers at that time. Parking may just be a bit tricky as 2 to maybe 4 cars can only fit their front parking.Place is big enough to accommodate maybe 30+ customers in one seating. They still have more seats inside/ at the back part.Their decorations are simple retro with different wall frames and quotes design on the gray walls. They even have this nice couch in the corner with Instagram worthy walls. HahaHere's what we ordered:Apple Wood Smoked Slab of Bacon (Php200)"With Bonito corn and japanese coleslaw"- Definitely not your typical bacon. The 3 slab of bacon along with the honey flavor with a twist of lemon (I'm not sure if this is lemon but it just taste like lemon/sour haha) is the best. Their slab of bacon is really thick and were just enough for me.Sake Meshi (Php350)"Grilled Teriyaki Salmon"- The best salmon dish ever! Why is it? The soft salmon dipped with their sauce along with the rice combined is very flavorful. I like that it taste like your just eating sushi/maki but with a rice and a twist. This is definitely new to me so I really like this one. Definitely one of the best!Baked Oysters (Php180)"With white wine cream sauce"- Their Baked Oysters is very creamy and milky but too salty. Why is that? Their presentation of this meal comes with a bed of salt underneath the baked oysters. I kinda seem curious about that so I asked the one of the waiters around. She said that bed of salts were included on the presentation of the meal to signify that these came from the sea or fresh from the sea, something like that. But I just don't get it since having a lot salt underneath the Baked Oysters made it more salty than tasty. But without the salt, this dish is really delicious.Overall, I really liked this new food spot as their menu/foods are distinct compared to other food spots around. But I think they still need more improvements on the designs of the place as I find it too simple for my taste. Might be a little pricey on some meals but will definitely recommend this to my friends :)

love their best sellers the applewood smoked slab of bacon and applewood smoked imported baby back ribs, cause you can taste the sweetness of apple smoke in every bite., so yummy smile emoticon. The slab of bacon paired with citrus honey sauce is a perfect match. Love it!!! And when you drop by, don't forget to try their luscious cookie dough with chocolate chips top with vanilla ice cream and bacon bits, a perfect hot and cold dessert you will never forget. Plus don't miss their apple and strawberry freeze that will truly freshen up your day making it special :)
