We spotted this hole in the wall restaurant through the navigating features of website. Our U! Happy team had lunch here after our outreach in Manila Boys Town. Goreng Goreng serves mostly authentic Malaysian and Singaporean cuisine. This establishment served us decent food but I see them struggling in the future given their location and high price points. We paid Php 2,620, too much for small portions. Their menu is also difficult to comprehend as they are written in actual names of the countries' local dishes.   We got their banner dish, Hainanese Family for Php 800. The chicken could use more seasoning and quantity. It had a mere 6 portions of red meat and they tried to justify its price with a large bowl of Hainanese rice. The Chicken Sate at Php 220 was not as appetizing too, and it only came with 5 very thin sticks. I did enjoy their version of Laksa (Php 140), Mee Goreng Mamak (Php 190) and Kerabu Mangga (Php 150). The Mamak is Indian-Malay style fried noodles with peanuts, mung bean sprouts, mustard greens, tofu, potatoes, tomatoes and squid balls while the starter Kerabu Mangga has an add-on of salted egg for a richer flavor. Our table also got Tauhu Goreng (tofu chips at Php 130), Kerabu Tinum (cucumber salad at Php 80), Kangkong Belacan (Php 130), Daging Kacau Goreng (stir-fried beef, Php 250) and Pisang Goreng (bananas in egg wrapper, Php 120). Are you into southeast Asian cuisine? If you are, Goreng Goreng delivers flavors found in these countries. It's just pricey for my taste but worth having if you are craving it.

I'm giving 4.0 for now because I haven't yet tried majority of their dishes.I would not provide photos because those are exactly what they displayed on their website profile. This is definitely one of the gems in the booming food industry in Marikina. I've been here twice and I always leave the shop satisfied.Place - 4.0 - This place is super near our house. In fact I can walk from home to get here. Unfortunately this place is not very accessible to outsiders.Taste - 4.0 - Every dish is freshly cooked. If you're looking for authentic indo/malaysian dishes, this place could absolutely deliver.Price - 4.0 -  The price is surprisingly affordable in comparison to their competitors.  Trust me that its going to worth every penny you spend.

Our usual order: Sate Ayam and Ais Kopi Gu You (butter coffee). So nice of them to always customize our coffee by using coconut milk instead of dairy milk. Perfect for our keto diet. Thank you! :)

They have a simple homey place. It was a bit humid when we dined-in. Their choices of food were a little overwhelming because they have a lot of food choices. The employees were friendly and accommodating. The food were ok and you could choose to have a non spicy meal or you could have or increase the level of spicy.

Ordered the Mee Goreng extra spicy, the level of spiciness can be compared to the Samyang X2 variant. The Mee Goreng tasted very authentic, really good and full of flavor. The Kaya Toast also tasted amazing. If you ask me, their Kaya Toast is even better than Toast Box's. 99 pesos for the Mee Goreng and 100 pesos for the Kaya Toast, it is almost a steal for the price.

Braced the Marcos Hiway traffic just to be able to reach Goreng Goreng on time once. It was a little far from where we came from but I guess the long drive and risking the time from QC to Marikina was worth it. Goreng Goreng is a humble yet nice place by the roadside which could accommodate few people inside since the place is not that spacious. What I liked upon entering the restaurant is how accommodating and approachable the lady behind the counter is. Since their menu showcases the names of the Southeast Asian food in their local language, the lady who acknowledged our presence helped us understand what's with the food she's offering. We ended up ordering the following:Nasi Goreng Daging - because that night I was craving for a little more savory food full of spices, I got Nasi Goreng served with daging kacau goreng or stir-fried beef slices, tomatoes, onions and bell pepper in dark, savory Mamak sauce and a fried egg. I'm telling you, this is delicious! Two thumbs up! It was great. It satisfied me a lot! Solved my cravings. *Must Try*Nyonya Laksa - it has noodles in coconut creamy broth. My friend ordered it because I cannot eat anything that has coconut milk in it (just because I am allergic to it) but I tried to take a sip to at least taste it and true enough, it's rich in curry and coconut milk. I mean, some of the restaurants would not make it this creamy because they would rather save up more coconut milk than make their food burst in flavors but this one's good, too!Kerabu Timun (cucumber salad) - It's good. :)Kopi Tarik Ais - tastes a little like a butterbeer and also looks like one! It may look like a frothy beer but it's actually milk. Haha. Must try! What's good: In Goreng Goreng, you can choose the level of spiciness of the food you're ordering!I'll definitely go back there if I find the chance. I'd probably be eating here every week or every night if it's near my place. :)

Went here for a quick dinner with the manfriend and we absolutely enjoyed the laksa and hainanese chicken. Tho the laksa was a bit salty, it’s still better than some of the laksa that we tried esp for its price.Worth a try!

Do not judge an establishment by the mere looks of its exterior. Inside this very unassuming restaurant lies a very delicious line-up of Malay cuisine I have ever tasted. The Marikina food scene has another hidden gem up its fast-growing roster of must-try restos. Take my word for it and check it out! Just like what General McArthur said, “I shall return!” Thank you Goreng Goreng!
