The best top notch fine dining level Singaporean Chinese restaurant in Metro Manila! The food is very food and very tasty. We always order the staple hainanese chicken with hainanese chicken rice and the laksa whenever we eat here. We also like the cereal prawn and the chili crab. The free boiled peanuts given while waiting for your orders is also very good.Singaporean food can get a bit oily if cooked really tasty but it's really very good and really is quite distinct from the other Chinese food in Metro Manila.

Let me just say I ate the best Hainanese chicken. It wasn't dine in though, just pick up. The sauces were really to die for. I have checked out the reviews of the restaurant and where the branches are. It is so good, I'm imagining eating it again!

I used to love Tao Yuan because they really do have good haianese chicken and platters. But tonight was just flat out disappointing. I don't know if it's because we ordered so-so dishes, they changed staff, or it just wasnt a good time to visit Tao Yuan.Char siu was cold, watery, and tasted like filipino barbeque. In short, it was not what char siu should taste like. Sotanghon with crab was too salty. I get that that kind of crab is expensive but to be billed 1770php+ for a dish in that amount of serving and taste? It's not worth it. The prawns and broccolis were also salty. I love prawns a lot and am usually the one to eat most of the prawns in a dish like that but tonight, I only had one. :( The asparagus dish's serving was also too small (500php).Everything just fell flat. The only good dishes we had was the haianese chicken and the chinese noodles. The complimentary peanuts were great. Service sucked tonight except for the waiter who took care of changing our plates on time and was alert. The soup we wanted was out of stock, when we changed into another, it was still out of stock. When we agreed to get the wintermelon soup since it was available, they didnt even serve it. The waiter said it wasnt available. Even asking for the bill took so long. It's hard for me to take this in because I do love Tao Yuan, but tonight is just so disappointing.

Being in this original Tao yuen is excitement for me. I will mainly focus on the hainanese chicken because that is their signature dish. I would say it's the best for me. Tender , yes. Flavorful , yes. Chunky , yes , both in look & taste. I look for this chunkiness which is missing in most hainanese chicken served in the metro. As my old chinese friends would say, reminiscent of the native chicken in the olden days . You buy it live, you blow into the chicken ass , THAT yellowish fat ass will determine the quality of chicken when cooked....... Very fat- illy gooood!!!!! Tao yuen hainanese is my choice!!!!
