I've never tried Tao Yuan before, so my cousin decided to treat me out to lunch. It wasn't my go-to Chinese restaurant in Lucky Chinatown Mall. But it's worth to try. What I noticed its a bit pricey as compared to the other restaurants in Binondo but as you can see in the picture, its really quality food. Assorted Cold Cuts Combination (Php 338)The cold cut was good, but I'm not really a fan of the presentation. I like it served that the cold cuts are separated to the sauce won't mix with each other. Braised Bean Curd with Dried Scallop (Php 338)This one I love, I weirdly like dishes cooked with tofu so this one was good, a little bit oily since its deep fried. Sea MantisI never knew was Sea Mantis was it depends on how much it is per gram. So my cousin ordered it Salt and Pepper style. It was really really good, its in between fa flat lobster and shrimp. Something I want to try againSo far it was a good experience for me, I also read that they serve Singaporean Dishes as well. Might want to try that also!

Because of a certain restaurant that is fully booked when we arrived, we transferred to Tao Yuan instead. I think I have been to all branches so there is really something good to look forward to in every visit. My usual favorites are the Curry Fish Balls, Singaporean Cold Cuts Platter, and the Pan-fried Egg Whites with Scallops, but today I ordered just the curry fish balls because we were still quite full. The Curry Fish Balls is served in a bowl filled with yummy fish balls and soft tofu, swimming in a pool of curry. The curry is fragrant because of the lemongrass. The fishballs has a nice texture and the tofu is delicious as it absorb the curry sauce. Great with rice.Aside from that, we tried something new with Fish Belly and Celery, and since Suahe is cheap and abundant this season, we ordered it as well. The suahe served are fresh and big, flavor is sweet and fun to eat. Adults and kids alike are grabbing those shrimps like hotcakes. The fish belly is served with some clear soup. The soup is flavorful because of the seafood flavors. The dish is basically seafood in a cup. Aside from the tender fish belly, there were shrimps, scallops and other vegetables.Tao Yuan is actually known for their great Chinese and Singaporean dishes, and also dimsum. Though we weren't able to avail their dimsum promo, we tried several new dishes as well. The scallops and celery dumpling was ok, the scallops being a little overcooked. The shrimp rice roll is perfect. Siomai and Hakaw are also best-sellers.Don't forget to ask for free dessert - almond jelly with fruits!A good place to dine, not as cheap as other restaurants in the area, but quality is there.
