HOLE IN THE WALL: Poetry NightsSev's Cafe is one of those hole-in-the-wall places that gives off a very simple and classic hang-out spots for the art crowd. My best friend and I checked it out last Saturday for a Spoken Word Poetry event that took place there. So please note that I am actually rating them based on pure ambiance at this point, since we had already eaten before going there. The place is located at Legaspi Towers basement, so it is on the left side of the building and you will see their sign by the guardhouse. You have to go through the gate and down a driveway and the cafe is at the very end. It has a very typical "college-hangout-spot vibe" upon entering - so it was like a nostalgia trip for us working folks. The place was already packed with patrons, making it quite warm despite airconditioning and fans being strategically located around the space. A small stage is located near the entrance and there is a backroom which the organizers/artists/etc use. The wooden tables and chairs in the center are closely situatied to one another, there are about a couple of booths located on both left and right side. Again, it was VERY warm inside - so perhaps they should work on their ventilation system. The bar had a couple of stools as well but many people had to end up standing. We were lucky enough to get some monoblock chairs by the back. The beer is P60 a bottle which is not bad. The performances were very entertaining despite the sound system being quite shotty. We did not stay long though because we had started to get claustrophobic with how many people were there plus the heat.Again, we did not get to try any food this time, but when looking at the menu - I am not expecting it to be anything mind-blowing. Maybe next time I will try their Beef Pesto and Duck Kaldareta, which have both been labelled as "must try's" and I will give them a new rating based on that.Over-all I am giving them a 3.5 as a first impression because I went there just for an event. But it is the kind of place I would come back to just hang out at. Perhaps it will be at a time when I can just order food, hang out and fully appreciate the vibe.

It was last Tuesday when we tried dining at Sev's Cafe. It was not a good timing I think, since we weren't able to taste their best seller Green Smoothie and other smoothies coz their machine got broken. So we only had water for drinks (boring!)My friend were not satisfied with their food. Among our group, it was only me who appreciated my simple order since it was labeled one of Sav's favorite "Spicy Talong and Tofu w/ brown rice". (Healthy!)Too bad, no program was scheduled that night, no one even used their open mic, only classic songs were played while we were there.I don't know if my group should be happy with our restaurant discovery. We just tried to have dessert somewhere..

I love their green smoothie! I asked what they used as ingredients, super simple -- just bananas and pechay. I appreciate that my meal came with loads of veggies, not just as a side dish, and brown rice! I recommend this place if you're looking for a healthy grub that's not intimidating.
