Go-to thai place near UST! The Pad Thai is affordable and packed wih flavor! I liked that it had more of a nutty taste which balanced well with the bean sprouts. Noodles were also cooked perfectly. Serving size was good for 2-3 people. I also got the Sweet and Sour Pork toppings. Rice portions was more than the pork but flavor was okay. My boyfriend ordered the Hofan Soup, and he really liked it. It can also be shared by two with plenty of beef and noodles. He was really satisfied with the soup saying it was delicious and filling. I also liked the Iced Thai Tea as it wasn't too sweet nor too creamy. The place is outdated but still decent and clean with good ventilation.

This is where I had my first taste of Thai food. The place has deterioted through the years. Back then, they had nicer chairs and tables. Now, it's all monoblock and very dingy. I'm happy the food hasn't changed at all. My usual order is the Beef Fried Rice, Seafood Fried Rice, and Bagoong Rice. Back in college, S.R. Thai was beyond what I can afford. We usually went here to splurge. Now, I can afford everything on the menu, but I tend to stick to my old favorites. The food here brings back so much college memories.

SR Thai was my first real exposure to Thai cuisine. Being clueless about it, I ordered their more Thai-neutral dishes at first. Then, in subsequent visits, I'd get more "adventurous" in ordering. Initially, we thought we'd order Bagoong Rice plus Sizzling Beef para kanin at ulam but the former can stand alone since it is already flavorful and there is already a generous serving of pork strips. Easily, my favorite dish of them would be their Pad Thai. I like how they have a provision of calamansi, peanuts, and sugar on the side so you can mix it to your liking.Pro tip: add their sweet oil and chili flakes to everything to make it better.Correct me if I'm wrong but I think SR Thai remains to be the only Thai restaurant in the area. I don't think anyone would dare to go against a staple such as SR Thai. It's expensive relative to the places to eat at in the area but affordable enough for when you feel like eating something authentically Thai.

"Affordable and authentic Thai cuisine" this phrase pretty much sums up this restaurant. Disregard the outdated and upgrade-worthy interior look of this place (though I can't let pass the plastic tables and chairs) the food will definitely make up for it.My staple order is crabmeat fried rice and I usually bathe it with their sweet and chili sauce. This time though I opted for their Phad Thai (Php 120.00) and Beef Horfun (Php 120.00).  Their Phad Thai is on point, it is not as good as the ones you'll get from the streets of Thailand but the flavour profile is present and satisfying. Beef Horfun on the other hand is simply delicious, I can eat two plates of it! My sister enjoyed the dishes so much that she ordered some for take out.We ordered for Thai Coffee but what was given to us is Thai Iced Tea (which is quite bland), we were too thirsty to complain at that time. Service staff should pay more attention to the orders but other than that they are helpful. S.R. stands for Som Ruk and after years and years of eating in this restaurant this is the first time I learned this trivia. S.R. Thai never fails to satisfy my Thai cravings.

As soon as you get inside, you'd feel a distinct homey feel to this place and that would make you want to take a seat. Just don't let your expectations get too high since this is just a simple place to begin with. If you're looking for something different or just wanna try Thai cuisine, then that's when you should go here. But this is also known as one of the student-friendly restos around UST so budget-wise, that can be one of your reasons to go here. As for the food, it is there to simply fill up your tummy which doesn't have to be bad, it's just that they need to be a bit more flavorful. For more pictures and reviews, please visit us at : bearslookingforfood.blogspot.com

I'm not a thai food expert. But to me this resto offers a variety of great tasting affordable thai food. Bagoong rice is one of my fave dishes here, though I must warn you that it's nothing like Filipino bagoong. The serving is quite big and for 115pesos you will get some pork bagoong with green mangos, cucumber, dried shrImp and sliced baguio beans all sitting on a bed of fried rice. The pork bagoong is more sweet than salty which serves as a great contrast to the sour mango side dish.My friend, on the other hand ordered tom yum with rice. Unlike instant tom yums this one does not taste artificial. I love the savory sour taste of this dish.I also recommend the curry crab meat with rice. :) This place is awesome. Just do not expect an impressive interior.

It has this very homey look to it. Sure it looks pretty old but it does tell you something about how authentic the Thai food is. It's not "modernized" to cater the "millenial" interior. This is one of the first Thai restaurants I've ever been to so I don't really expected much and just enjoyed everything in there. It's actually hard not to impress me. I have low standards. It also fits the student budget. 85-200 pesos is sulit.

Good thai resto, very affordable ( 150 pesos and up). You'll love their seafood rice and bagoong rice. Tom yam is good too. Place is just small and simple but worth it.

First of all, let us clarify that the S.R. Thai Cuisine in V. Concepcion and that of in P. Noval are under different management. True that the one in V. Con is , technically, the main resto and the other is a "franchise", however, certain circumstances took place and now the "franchise" do not anymore follow the agreement with the main resto (including that of food prep and flavor).I have been living in Dapitan since i was 16 and one of the most constant and strong dining area is that of S.R.: Big portion, tasty, affordable ( nothing is above 150) and, most importantly, the friendly owners. So we just had our lunch at S.R. and the place is packed. Like, literally packed with patrons. I ordered my usual chicken curry rice and wine roast chicken ( with thai iced tea of drinks) for my sister.VERDICT: the curry sauce in my order is pretty thin and bland ( its usually creamy and thick). I had to add condiments to taste. But my sister loves her share of order ( yes, the thai iced tea in S.R. is her fave one)✌️
