Went here to eat because of the moderately high rating in website. Was a bit disappointed with the Pares since my point of comparison was the original pares in retiro. They sort of taste the same but the quality of meat is softer and better in retiro. Also, the fried rice was a bit dry and hard but overall, it felt like dining in old manila and it was an okay experience.

There's something about Pares that you can't just explain! Pares Mami House has been one of the most popular pares-go-to-place in Manila. It is almost always packed with people. You need to eat fast because other hungry customers will literally be behind your back waiting for you to finish.No comment for their Pares, masarap period! Eat it with white rice; order an extra cup because one serving of their Pares is good for two (IMHO). We tried their Kiampong rice out of curiosity but nah, it did not go well with our Pares. Their sisig was so-so! Just eat Pares here period. Insider Tip: Pares goes well with Chilimansi and if you're an ulam person you can ask for 'Lotong' aka extra pares sauce (for free) so you can still finish your extra rice. They also give free soup so take advantage of that.

This Pares joint holds a special place in my heart. I always came here as a kid. Weirdly enough, my appetite then is bigger than my appetite now. I used to finish 2 1/2 cups of rice every time I sat down to eat there with my parents. The price has increased over the years, and while there are times I feel like the taste has changed too, it's nevertheless a good place to stop for hearty Pares.
