This was my first time entering New World Manila Bay Hotel despite several visits in the area, and given the opportunity, I was pretty ecstatic to try their lunch buffet! I looked at their selection and, although the number of options looked a bit less than what I expected, they had some pretty good and appetizing choices. What I found interesting among the food options were the following:- Chinese & Western cooking styles for the seafood- Seafood choices- Japanese sashimi- Create your own donut- Create your own salad- Cheese, counted 6 (Port salut, Emmental, Bleu cheese, Pont l'eveque AOP, Livarot AOP, & Edam cheese- Pizza, especially after seeing that oven!- Pasta Station- Ice-cream Station- Bread & Butter PuddingMeal Time:I started off with the medium rare Top Blade with Peppercorn Sauce, and I was really really happy with the meat being tender and juicy. If I wasn't saving my tummy for other food, I would've focused on this a lot! Clams and mussels cooked with butter and garlic were perfectly strong and flavorful! Salmon and Tuna Sashimi were very fresh, cold and relaxing in the mouth, and complete with soy sauce and wasabi. Fish and Veggie Tempura were both good. I didn't get to try their Ebi/Shrimp because it wasn't on display, but I know I could've asked for some too. Blue Cheese on our pizza was super good despite the notoriously prominent smell it was expected to spread. Crust was no exception 'cuz I LOVE crust and theirs was good too! Seabass and Peking Duck were okay and the Fish Dumpling had an interesting, attractive color. Taste for that was also okay.Dessert Time:Bread and Butter Pudding was claimed to be famous among customers and I could kinda' tell because of it's addictingly fluffy texture with sweet flavor. I say "kinda" because I was more fond of the ice-cream: Limoncello, Strawberry, and Red Bean. One downer was the nearly-melted consistency though the nice chef at the back gave me a heads-up about it. Nevertheless, I enjoyed their flavors! Limoncello surprisingly tasted like braso de mercedes so I must have weird taste buds for this one. Strawberry was good though it would've been ultimately better if it had strawberry chunks. Red Bean was good, too, and I had flashbacks of red bean in bingsu.Tip:I suggest getting tiny portions so you could try everything. Halfway through my meal/s, I got tempted to get lots of seafood so I got a bit full there already. Also try their iced tea with GUAVA! It was frickin' amazing! :)Great to see you again 🦄The Last Unicorn🦄 and a BIG Thank You to Jeanne Marfal for the website invite!

This website mom of 4 is always  on the look out for buffet spreads that would satisfy our discerning piggery. "Veterans" of buffet since they were little, you can say they have developed a discriminating eye and palate and can very well tell the well curated ones from the run-of-the mill....

Actual rating: 4.4This was quite a surprising dining experience for me. I was not expecting it to be one of the much better buffet places around the Metro, yet it proved me wrong. They have a pretty wide selection of dishes. I'll list down my top seven dishes here that you have to try when you dine here, in no particular order.#1: Prime Rib - This meat is cooked at perfect medium, maintaining the flavor of the meat with its juices oozing out when sliced. The meat is also tender without being too chewy for anyone. Best paired with their peppercorn sauce which tastes like beef juices mixed with that creamy and pepper-y flavor.#2: Smoked Salmon - This was the freshest smoked salmon I have tasted among the buffet places in Manila. The thickness of the meat was also on point. This was just amazing. Yummy!#3: Lechon con Paella - I have to admit, the skin here easily vanishes. So, you gotta make this part of your priority list. Pork skin was crispy without too much fat on it. Meat was not the most flavorful around, but the dark meat is packed with the salty and peppery flavor that goes well with their lechon sauce.#4: Sauteed Shrimps with Butter and Garlic - Get some shrimps and ask the kitchen to peel them for you and have them cooked with butter and garlic. Shrimps are cooked perfectly. They're as fresh as they could get. The buttery flavor brings out the best in that dish.#5: Leche Flan - Creamy, delicious, not to sweet. Just try it. It's one of the best I've tried yet.#6: Vanilla and Dark Chocolate Ice Cream - I'm not a big fan of sweets. I'm not a fan of ice cream either. Yet, you gotta try these flavors. Best to top your vanilla ice cream with melted white chocolate and rice crispies from the "make your own donut" station. Sarap.#7: Calamansi Iced Tea - Refreshing without being too sweet!I'd definitely go back here again.

What an honor to have been invited to a night of good food matched with a wonderful company at the New World Manila Bay Hotel. It was a pleasure to be back here, it was still Hyatt when I visited years ago. They launched a theme recently for their daily sumptuous buffet at the Market Cafe and I could not have been more excited to be there. It’s a celebration of the Flavors of Spain, which runs until August 31. A taste of the Iberian Peninsula and a feast from the Mediterranean is what awaited us here at the hotel’s main buffet spot. The Market Cafe welcomes you with such a festive atmosphere, with the warm and friendly attendants on the buffet floor appropriately donning Spanish costumes to complete the look and feel. Spread sporadically around the Cafe are tables of Spanish products as prepared by Terry’s Selection, a one-stop shop for curated European culinary items and food products.Rounds of Sangria Lolea were also graciously poured into our glasses at our demand amidst the cheese and charcuterie plates assembled and spread throughout our table. Excellent choice of cheeses occupied one wooden plank paired with dried fruits - La Corrala, Idiazabal, Buenalba, and the unique Red Wine-Infused Manchego. Another board was graced with slices of Serrano Salami, Fuet Extra, and Spanish Chorizo and garnished with sliced pickles and shallots. At the central area of the buffet, a humongous pig hind leg is suspended on a wooden structure, definitely the Jamon Serrano that is central to this Spanish feast. Expertly sliced into thin sheets, it comes along with other Spanish cold cuts with pairings and condiments fit for such a glorious piece of jamon. That is different types of cheeses and nuts, curate your own charcuterie plate. That’s exactly what I did. There was also Arroz Negra a classic Spanish rice dish made with squid ink and generously garnished with seafood; Estofado de Pollo, which is chicken stew the Spanish way; Carne de Cerdo Braseada, rustic pork dish braised in hearty and rich tomato soup and olives; and the Grass-fed Prime Rib at the carving station - a huge hunk of premium beef goodness, which they grill to medium for your protein fix.Another show-stealer is the island boasting the freshest catch of the day. Situated in the center of the whole area is a stark display of seafood - delicious-looking crabs, succulent mussels, plump shrimps, small clams and luscious oysters. The bounty of the sea brought to our tables. Amazing! Have your selection of seafood prepared the way you like it, sautéed in butter or covered in cheese.Their pasta station is another favorite of mine. Customize it to your desire and the chef attendant will deliver. I had their pesto paired with Al dente pasta, perfectly cooked chicken, an indulging yet simple dish. Could not get enough! And I just had to request some brick-oven pizza to be served to our table. Topped it with slices of chorizo instead of the usual pepperoni to stick to the theme. Great bite to it and a nice, smoky flavor from the brick oven. Bellissima! The whole other continental selection of the Market Cafe is not a chore to navigate at all. Going around the area would lead you to discoveries in the appropriately labeled stations representing cuisines of the world. They have a quality spread of Asian, Chinese, Filipino, Indian, Italian and even Korean dishes. It’s definitely like going on an international food trip.I should already be full up to the brim after several trips to and from the buffet area but there is always room for dessert. Especially the special addition to making the Spanish culinary experience come full circle. Complete with a crepe station, ice cream station and a halo-halo station, it’s a whole tour on its own. The featured Spanish desserts were a sight for sore eyes; Tortada di Ricotta, which is a cake made or ricotta cheese - almost sinful, and the creamy and indulgent Crema Catalan. I also hit up the ice cream bar and assembled my own ice cream bowl - strawberry and chocolate ice cream topped with fresh strawberries and chocolate bark. Sometimes I surprise (and entertain) myself with my own creativity. And what better way to conclude such a notable feast but with long conversations about anything and everything over many more glasses of Sangria Lolea. It genuinely was an exceptional time, as everybody on the table may agree and fondly look back at.Catch the Flavors of Spain at the Market Cafe at the New World Manila Bay Hotel up until the end of August for lunch on Sundays for P2,500, dinner rates for Monday to Thursday at P2,200, and P2,500 for Friday to Sunday, all inclusive of free-flow beverages.
