Kuya J Restaurant is a casual dining restaurant that offers great Filipino gastronomic delights using quality and unique tasting dishes in a homey dining experience. We were somewhat a lil disappointed because most of our orders were just second options since what we wanted were not available. To start the feast, we opted to get the Mangga Tuna Salad (P180) and was surprised the servings is good for four people. The best salad, if I may say, I've ever had! We wanted to try their Shrimp Gambas, Grilled Rack of Ribs and their best seller Kuya J's Crispy Pata, unfortunately, those weren't available. However, we tried their chicken Barbecue (P160), their good-for-three Kuya J's Bagnet (P375), and Pork Sisig w/ Egg (P190).The food is great and satisfying, but because there were only few options available from their Menu on a Saturday afternoon, I should prolly say it's just okay. I would've rated "5" if their staff were not-so-snobbish and if it didn't take forever for one of them to attend to our needs. I would've rated "5" if we didn't smell like Pork Sisig after we dined. My friends can tell, from the smell of my hair, what we had for lunch eh! We would've rated "5" if only we had tasted their Kuya J's Special Crispy Pata.

My friends and I went to Kuya J yesterday (SM Manila branch). We are so disappointed with their service. We did not feel the warm welcome we usually experience from other food service establishments. The crews are so rude and impolite especially the one who took our orders. He treated us as if we're going to steal their display books ( we browse them coz we thought they're ok) The food are just so-so. We can pass the food, but the service is really infuriating. We promise not to go back there.

The staffs are very approachable and nice. The price is ranging from P 175-250. (Very affordable. Because the serving of the food is good for 2-3 pax) We ordered Sinigang na Bangus, Chopsuey and Sisig (which is there best-seller: WE AGREE!👌🏻) The place is very relaxing not the typical fastfood one and also the lively music for the customers (opm hits 💯) We'll def go back and try their other menu! 😊

Compare w/ their Otis branch, the ambiance here is cozier. Yes, they take time preparing for your order but food is good. Service is not bad and since this is mall based, parking may not be a problem since SM Manila parking is not always occupied

Even though a lot of people always line up at Kuya J, I am really not a fan. I would like to clarify that there is no hate in this review. There's no wow factor. The dishes were bordering on bland. There is not one dish that I liked. I ate it because I was hungry and I don't want to waste the money I paid. Maybe, in my next try, I'll love it. But I doubt that.

I went here last Friday, August 10, 2018. I was already disappointed upon arriving, there was no waiting line so my friend and I directly went inside and we approached a waitress to ask for a table for 2. We were told to wait outside tho we saw vacant uncleared tables. We waited for about 15mins and we were seated only after following up for our table; we were obviously forgotten. We ordered pares (the garlic rice was so oily), pinakbet (overcooked), daing na bangus (looked recooked many times over), sisig (so so), danggit rice (buo buo or lumped; not well mashed). To top it all, there was no announcement for last call for orders and we were just approached for our bill and were told of closing time when we planned to try the halo halo. Sad experience for a first timer.

We came here to try their Saba Halo Halo Espesyal. As I observed, their staffs are not that approachable. The halo halo tastes good. It is like shaved ice with few saba, sago and langka.

Duo halo-halo which combines milk and ube, roasted chicken, kaldereta, pinakbet are just some of the well known Filipino desserts and dishes served at Kuya J restaurant UN Square Mall branch.Kuya J’s UN Square Mall branch is fitted with well-lighted and sophisticated interiors, while serving well-designed and well-executed native dishes that cut across regional palates.Pinakbet had okra, bitter melon, squash, string beans, meat and shrimp paste. (Php 198 ) for sharing between 2 to 4 people.Roasted chicken also tried their version of their roasted chicken, It serve with slice tomatoes and cucumber and can be shared with 2 to 4 persons. The meat is tender and mildly spice. One can add hot sauce or liver sauce to add taste.Beef Kaldereta we like the tender beef meat and the sauce, the slices of potatoes and carrot . Php 415 for sharing between 2 to 4 persons.Duo Halo-halo which combines milk and ube flavors, The shave ice had infuse flavors, similar to the more popular halo-halo brands in the market. The halo-halo is not too sweet and just right. It is topped with corn flakes and leche flan with the usual mixed like saba banana , gelatin and strips of coconut. Php 109 is quite irresistible especially with the hot weather.

✅Yesterday we ate here for our lunch. As we go inside no one welcome us and we just choose our table.✅Our orders came right away, the taste of the food was good but there vegetables in the Kare-Kare are not half cook they are really uncooked. The Sotanghon noodles are not well done even the vegetables.✅I decided to have dessert but i waited years to serve the leche flan its a thumbs down.✅The place is clean and the ambiance was good.✅The price is right but it is not worth the quality of the food.Kuya J Kare-Kare 🍲Sotanghon Guisado 🍜Leche Flan 🍮
