Before the ramen craze got really big, Kokoro Ramenya was the first of the new wave ramen restos to open. Located along Roxas Boulevard, Kokoro Ramenya was lucky to have the former head chef of Shinjuku as one of the owners. My favorite ramen is the Hakata Classic, which has its soup milky white due to 18 hours of boiling. Each bowl is generously served with chasyu and seaweed plus soft-boiled egg. The seafood ramen is also a hit. And so is the big-sized fried California Maki. But we had a bad experience with this place after their soft opening, and nobody from the restaurant bothered to apologize when we found hair on the ramen. The bowl was replaced and when we checked the new one, it still had hair. To think we were dining there almost every week.

Kokoro Ramenya should have been a little familiar to you because the chef behind this restaurant was the original chef of the Shinjuku Ramen House in Makati. Well, unfortunately, I am not much of a ramen-person; hence, I found the ramen here "okay". Well, like I said, I'm not a ramen-enthusiast, so I don't know what makes up a good ramen, but this one from Kokoro had very soggy and thick noodles overwhelming the bowl. In fact, there were too few soup to go along with the noodles. On the other hand, I love how affordable other dishes were such as the sushi and sashimi. Plus, I really liked the Tofu.

Another ramen house in Manila, this establishment serves good Ramen in large bowls as well as other Japanese dishes such as gyoza, sushi, maki and donburi rice dishes. Definite a place to try if you are looking for Japanese restaurant in Roxas Boulevard.

Kokoro Ramenya is located on the second level of Avenue of the Arts Building along Roxas Boulevard. It serves authentic Japanese dishes consisting of ramen, donburi, tempura, sushi and sashimi and a whole lot more. The interiors were spacious and looked bright, creating a casual and relaxed ambiance. Staff were attentive and accommodating. We ordered Wakame Salad, California Maki and Miso Ramen. Both ramen and maki were good. The broth was flavourful. I didn't like the fresh seaweeds on the Wakame Salad. But overall, I was satisfied with the great food and service at this restaurant.

Sub-par ramen dishes. Not sure how they even made it to the 10 ten ramen list in Manila (maybe the limited ramen restos to list...). After our first sips of our ramens, we already knew that we won't be satisfied so we ordered the usual Japanese dishes. The raw stuff and their other cooked fare were just OK.
