The restaurant is located at a very accessible area for university students around taft. The food isn’t as authentic as something you would get at a proper Japanese restaurant, however it isn’t bad, I would say for the most part it is on the good side. While the price is arguable, it is still affordable, especially for students who just want Japanese food.

Ambience: 3/5The place looks like a modern japanese restaurant. Open since 5 years ago? It improved its looks and menu. Though their tables and chairs could use some improvements. It could do well if they remove some unnecessary decorations such as the freedom wall.Menu: 4/5Their menu consists of different types of katsu which you can have a regular or large serving, rice meals, sashimi and rolls, soups and other japanese dishes. I usually order their cheese roll katsu but opt a lighter katsu which was the ross katsu.Service: 2/5Their service deteriorated from the first time I went there. Missing those servers who would smile upon you once you enter. There was a mishap on my order. My order was given to another person which was clearly different from what he ordered since I got the large and not the regular. Instead of giving me another order, they chose to just add more pieces thinking I wouldn't notice it. The pieces were definetly different in sizes. I asked them to cook for me another since it was obviously different. They also removed their sesame seed grinder which was disappointing.Taste: 2/5The katsu wasn't that great as it was before. Maybe cost cutting and quality assurance was thrown off the window. It was still good but not as good as before. Their serving of their salad and soup was also reduced. The katsu itself was a bit oily but it was still crunchy. The rice wasn't japanese rice anymore which totally made the meal more boring and less tasteful.Value: 2/5With their current services, this place doesn't feel like its standard from before. Quality control was non existent. Definetly not worth their price with the current standards.Star Rating: 2 StarsWith a disappointing score of 13/25, they really need to up their game. This place used to be a 4 stars to me but right now, they need to fix their service and quality.

The im-rly-craving-for-some-yabu-but-im-on-a-tight-budget-and-i-cant-leave taft joint, they got tipid on the miso and cabbage actually even the meat itself :((((((( but its one of the few restos that's open past 10pm so kudos

Big serving and bang for the buck. I tried the sushi and sashimi roll, and they seem to taste awful. The katsu here is good though. Budget friendly for students.

This is like a budget friendly Yabu. But don’t expect Yabu quality. It’s still good for 150pesos though. For that price you get katsu, rice, miso soup and cabbage with dressing.

Food was just regular taste just to fill out your stomach. The cabbage salad wasn't fresh maybe because we ate late ( but still ) and the miso soup wasn't even tasty it's more of water-drifted soup. Food is also cheap so don't expect much. Ambience was okay, It feeels weird that they play christian songs on a resto but it was relaxing anyways overall it was a good meal and it's okay

Eveything here is good. From the price, to the ambiance, service, and serving size, you’ll definitely leave the place feeling satisfied. I always order their pork katsu that comes with miso soup and a drink. Will visit again soon to try something different from their menu.

If you are looking for an affordable place to eat japanese food, this is the place. Their katsu has quite a big serving that will surely fill your tummy.

Ichiro is one of Taft’s gems. Located at the second level of One Archers’ Place, this Japanese restaurant is truly recommended. Why? Because it’s student-friendly and offers quality food. They offer variety of Japanese food including donkatsu, donburi, soup and noodles such as udon and ramen, among others. They also have appetizers such as takoyaki, sashimi, sushi rolls, and many others. We ordered their bestsellers: takoyaki, beef udon and their cheese roll katsu. The udon tastes okay, their takoyaki’s good and can go at par with authentic ones although it’s kinda sweet. On the other hand, their cheese roll katsu’s something different and must-try. It’s a cheaper alternative to Yabu and others. Best part is most of their meals come with drinks. This place implements pay as your order policy. It’s super budget-friendly too with nothing over P200.We also love the interior of the place and it’s also spacious. The Eatventurers

Ichiro is quaint and a lax place you can dine casually with your friends. I absolutely enjoyed my katsu and sashimi and I will return to try more from their menu.
