A friend of mine has always been raving about the mocha cake from hizon's saying it's the best one that he ever had. I was surprised to see a stall in mall of asia today while strolling so didn't think twice and bought a slice. It was actually good. The cake wasn't sweet and is very compact unlike the other commercial mocha cakes like goldilocks and red ribbon of which it's airy and spongy. Another difference is there's a custard or dulce de leche type of filling in the middle which added a twist in their mocha cake. A slice cost 120pesos. I intend to try their ensaymada the next time as it's quite famous in the website community as well.

Hizon's will always be our favorite place serving all time favorite meals. It's been here for a long time. Been eating here when I was still so little and always go to Dolphy's table to chitchat. Dolphy has always been a pleasant man. Idol!My personal favorite is the porkchop. It's the best. Served with apple sauce. So tender, juicy and grilled perfectly!Lengua - yummy! Rich! a must have!Chow mein - my mom's favorite and orders this every visit.Cheeseburger is yummy! They have omelette which my dad orders every Sunday. It is good.On Thursdays they have turkey. Turkey plate has slices of turkey, cranberry and sweet camote. Also comes with a bowl of soup. Sarap! They still give complimentary bread slices (1serving)Hizons is known for their pastries. Their Ensaymadas are to die for. It is expensive but good. It's the typical brioche bread. They serve good coffee.FYI:Generally their items are in the high price range.

The food here is excellent! i have tried their callos, embutido spaghetti, lengua and you always keep coming back for more. My family's birthday wont be complete without their mocha cake. We even send it to the US. I have met the owner and she is very nice and accommodating. back in mid 90's we often eat here and see Dolphy and I completely understand why they have the Dolphy special. we have tried this and its very delectably mouth watering. i dont have pictures to share so you better trust what i say and try it out. Also take home their ensaymada and cake rolls which are the best snacks around. I also would like to mention the aroma of baking pastry wafting in their restaurant.

This is one of the Classic! I grew up enjoying their cakes. My mom would travel long distance just to buy their cakes during my birthdays, that's why I would often request this during our meetings at work. I also like their Quezo de Bola Ensaymada. I would often give it as a gift to some Doctors and Workmates.

Hizon's was always my go to place for birthday cakes but recently, their quality is declining. Maybe they are cutting costs and it definitely shows.Food: alot of items in their menu are out of stock. The only pie available is apple and pineapple when I visited. Their yemaballs apparently was phase out already. Plus I pointed to the lady I want "that one" pointing to the assumingly regular ensaymada with 85? pesos price sign but was surprised when it was actually 115( large). I hope they update that because it is very misleading.Aside from this, the ensaymada is less cheesier. Hizons ensaymada has always been pricey but it WAS good which justified the price. However, now it's obvious they are cost cutting the ingredients. Even the rectangular birthday cake(which I have every year) every September, is shorter in height and has less filling. My sister also noticed this so I know it wasn't my imagination. Also, drop by customers are not welcome with whole cakes. I heard a customer asking for a whole cake without reservation and he was referred to other brands...yeahWorst of all is their service. Bocobo street is narrow so guards assisting customers to park is a must. When I got there noone assisted me. Patiently I double parked despite the narrow street and waited for a guard to assist, but noone came. Finally I managed to park after 15 mins when somebody left, no thanks to the guard...My parking was a bit crooked because noone assisted me and the car beside me just left also. Then the guard and cashier suddenly appeared after I parked and said i should back abit, who wouldn't get pissed???
