Yabu is my favorite katsu place in Manila. Not only is it one of the established Japanese brands that first offered refillable soup and shredded cabbage, I have found that quality is consistent thru its branch network.They also offer good customer service from guiding you to use the mortar and pestle to release the oils and flavors of the sesame seeds before mixing in their famous katsu sauce to seeing that your water glass is refilled or if you want additional soup or cabbage.The star without a doubt would be their perfectly crunchy katsu. They are masters of panko coating that has uniform thickness and endless crispiness. Though they offer chicken or seafood katsu, I still come here for the delicious pork. Whether rosu (with a lining of fat), hire (lean tenderloin cut) or the special kurobuta rosu or hire, I choose depending on my mood and my cash that day.Today, I got the Hire 120g (P405) and Vanilla Lava Cake (P178). Even if it was lean, it was tender and flavorful. A slight dab of the mustard then dipped in the prepared sauce would make you nod in acknowledgment that this is one fine pig. A bit of side salad with the sesame infused dressing or a sip of the miso soup takes you on a merry-go-round of flavors and textures, different yet complimentary. It's also well thought out that they provide the Japanese custom of having succulent fruits. In this case, watermelon and pineapple, sweet, sour, juicy and pulpy. Conflict and harmony.This is my go-to katsu place and it never disappoints.

After all these years, Yabu is still standing strong.One of my favorites is their Hire Curry in which they offer 3 levels of Spiciness. I love their curry plate/bowl and it is so much fun to eat there. Do not forget to order the egg.Another favorite of mine is their 4pcs Prawn Set, creamy and filling. It may seem expensive but the prawn is large that it is as filling as ordering pork katsu.I also love the fact that they have trays when serving their food which makes it novel and at the same time easier to practice ClayGo (Clean As You Go).Yabu still has an advantage over its competitors; they have unlimited fruits, brown rice, and a piece more in their prawn set.

Love their Rosu! Juiciness of the pork matched with unli rice and veggies. 🔥 one of my top katsu restos. Definitely recommend this one if you love jap/katsu

Yabu is definitely one of those restaurants that will give you a good dining experience in any branch that you visit. Love their food and I got to indulge for less due to their tie up with BDO. With a minimum food purchase, you get 30% off your bill! We couldn't pass that up!😍

Pork katsu is awesome! With perfect match on yabu's special sauce. Unli sides are great! Healthy cabbage, fresh fruits and i love the soup. Staffs are accommodating

Yabu never disappoints! Loved the food and the mango shake was in the right sweetness! The servers were very much attentive and accommodating.It’s just the restroom that’s really troublesome. It smells bad as it’s a unisex. Place an air freshener or have it cleaned every hour at least.

Always a treat eating here! Service is consistent throughout. Always a go to at megamall. Staff is very courteous and attentive. Food is also worth the price!

It’s okay especially if you’re into cutlets and unlimited anything. I checked the other reviews and we didn’t get to experience the great service they keep on telling/reviewing 5 star about. The waiter even said he forgot that we requested the extra fork since they only gave one for the two of us. The group next to us even followed up their change as it took longer than usual when there’s not much people on the time we went today. We’ll try here again or another branch & maybe my review will change.

I often eat at Yabu when craving a good tonkatsu meal. 80g (rosu) is enough one sit down, and the unlimited refills of rice (your choice of brown or white), miso soup, and cabbage complement the meal perfectly. The staff are also outstanding, and even in the middle of a busy lunch service you can feel well attended to. Looking forward to more visits in the future.
