    Shitamachi is known for their grilled Japanese dishes. I have been eating here since 2013. Specifically in their Podium Branch. The staff are very accommodating and the food is awesome. My favorite dish are: Wagyu Strips, Beef Yakiniku, Chaschu and their nugget sauce 🍢

    Gyoza - the wrapper is a little too thick for my taste.Seafood chahan - or the japanese fried rice. A little too salty for my taste. Plus, i didn't like the inclusion of salmon in the mix. I would have preferred shrimps.Grilled chashu - now this is yummy. I just wish they put the slaw in a separate plate/container so that the water from the cabbage did not mix with my chashu.

    I eat soup noodles for comfort. In fact, noodles of any kind. It's a food that is very easy to eat; it's very soothing and comfortable, too. @shitamachiph has Tantan Men that has the combination of spice, flavors, ingredients cooked with love and commitment and homage to Japanese food.Every strand depicts yearning for me. It strings memories that were confined in the recesses of my mind. The soup reminded me of rainy days and the comfort it often brought.As I finished the whole bowl, as if I had a newfound openness. I saw the world differently. And my heartstrings had come undone.

    Let's start off with adding to our Japanese Cuisine dictionary:What is Chashu?An evolved, Chinese dish of barbecued pork called “Char Siu”, the Japanese took it and made it a perfection of its own. It’s simmered pork, which just simply melts in your mouth and disappears. Each bite is a seriously wonderful experience as pork is bursting with flavour and the thin slices and the exquisite tenderness almost feels sinful. Their take has a very mellow and simple salted flavour plus the taste that I enjoy about pork is modest but it's there.What is Tsukemen?It’s like a ‘deconstructed Ramen’, to quote a person I admire, which is possibly the best explanation for a Tsukemen. The soup is separate and is more flavorful than the soup in Ramen. It also has a darker color and a full bodied taste and texture.This is the first time I’ve experienced it, while I’ve eaten Ramen quite a lot and have never really fully appreciated it as much as my Chashu experience. Each bite was like waking up to your favourite meal on a Saturday, it felt so warm, comfortable and almost nostalgic. I can’t even imagine how this would taste like in rainy weather! Am pretty sure it’ll be heaven after any kind of day.Salmon with Rice was not the best idea, and that's why I stuck to experiencing the slightly hot Tsukemen (And I wish I had easier access to a branch than just SM BF or Ortigas) Salmon is best to experience on it's own or with a very small serving of rice. It's taste is very mellow and graceful so topping it on rice no matter how hefty the portion is like sweet on sweet, you'll barely taste anything.Overall dining ExperienceTo quote a personal favorite competitive cooking show, “Good Gastronomy!”It was excellent for its price and I’ll be willing to even go there if their price increases suddenly up to around a hundred bucks. There service tea was good, the cups used were proper for it and my only complaint is they didn't have a lot of drink choices. Which I hope would improve! There prices are quite fair and wouldn't leave your tummy full while your wallet starving.

    Ramen is good and definitely worth the price. Staffs are accommodating,not to mention super unlimited tea servings. Chashu is soft and tasty. Must try.

    The place was quite good and quiet even though it's open and don't have doors. I tried the Ramen Set A and I thought they would serve a small bowl of ramen but it's in their regular size. I was so full that I can't finish the kaarage and rice. The ramen, tantanmen, was spicy and thick. I love the ramen and it's not as pricey as on other restaurants.

    BEST. JAPANESE. RESTAURANT. EVER. (Branch i ate at was in BF parañaque) Everything from the appetizers to the desserts and the drinks are balanced and well-seasoned. Mentai Salmon is to die for. Chashu (japanese pork) is superb. Overall experience is divine. Make sure you try their Japanese caramel for dessert. :) clean and refreshing.

    Podium Mall is a very small establishment with limited food options. I have tried a lot of the restaurants there, so when I saw Shitamachi I immediately wanted to try that out.Service wise, I love how every server is very attentive. It was a weeknight, but the restaurant was packed with the corporate class from the adjacent buildings. I was seated right beside a lot of Japanese guests with a few Filipino hosts, and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the feedback from the Japanese was good. The place is small, serving only up to 20 people at a time. I like the earthy minimalist wood interiors, as well as the no-fuss seats and tables.I had the Ikasumi Ramen (black ramen) which I find a little oily and needed more salt and those spring onions. The chashu is actually good, flavorful on its own.My dad ordered the Tan Tan Men, and he was very satisfied with it. It's not a close contender to Ukkokei's tantanmen, but it was good. The nuttiness and spiciness were balanced together.It's also good to note that their Tamago is delightfully runny and yummy.My dad and I dined here when they were just two weeks open. They asked us a lot about our feedback, so I'm very excited to go back and see if they have applied our suggestions.

    My friend and I went for lunch at Shitamachi. For appetizer, we had the Katsu Chashu. I liked that it was served very crispy, but maybe I wasn't used to a thin meat for katsu. I wouldn't mind eating this with rice though.For main dishes, we ordered their Sizzling Ramen, the Volcano Ramen. Served on a stone pot, the broth is poured to the noodles as soon as it reaches the table. I like the flavor of the broth and the tenderness of the chashu, but my friend and I found the taste of the mushroom quite overpowering. Still, it's a unique ramen you must try. We also had a donburi, the Wagyu Beef Pepper Rice. Another sizzling dish with premium wagyu beef, egg and pepper sauce, the meat was tender and the dish is quite good for sharing. I would go back just for this.I love how reasonably-priced the dishes of Shitamachi are. The dishes we had could still be improved but good enough for the prices.

    really yummy place to try out japanese food! Ate here with my mom for some alone time in podium. Didnt order much but i think these were the basic essentials :)
