Japanese food has always been a cuisine most favored globally. Through the years, as the ever-changing world of culinary arts flourished, we witnessed the Japanese cuisine grow with it, but still maintaining its reputation as a source of quality seafood and meat. . Rosanjin, brought by the same group that created Sandaya Yakiniku, is a Japanese restaurant offering authentic Japanese experience by using quality ingredients imported from Japan. Last Friday, my fellow foodies and I have been given the opportunity to explore the best Rosanjin has to offer through a website FMU.

Japanese food has a special place in my heart. With all the recent ramen joints and Japanese restaurants popping up, I jumped at the chance to sample the food that helped shape some part of who I am; I found Rosanjin in SM Megamall a good place to rekindle the palate for that classic Japanese taste. The big draw of Rosanjin is that it provides diners the opportunity to cook their food. In our case, we were provide slices of Australian Striploin, Wagyu, US Angus Short Ribs, and a Seafood Platter filled with salmon, prawns, scallops, and tofu in a broth, among other things. The dishes are cooked on a portable burner heated by a combustible gel. Think of an incense oil burner but bigger. That should give an idea of what is used. This has the advantage of reducing smoke and other unpleasant odors that may bother other diners and themselves, especially if they have other plans. The dishes themselves came out very well. The meat comes with a choice of three dips, but I don't need them. It is good enough to be taken on its own. Just cook it to a good medium rare and it comes out tender and juicy enough to be savored on its own. The seafood needs a little more care since it comes in a broth, but I personally love the salmon with its hint of lemon. As always, anything with a hint of lemon is a plus on my end. Just a splash of the sour to remind that not all things in life are sweet. But I digress. Aside from grilling meat or stewing seafood, diners can indulge in classic Japanese dishes like crunchy shrimp tempura and sushi or maki. A unique take on sushi is the cake-like layered sushi, also known as oshi-zushi. We sampled two types: a tuna-flavored one called Hana and a salmon-flavored one called Taiyo. Each long plate comes with five pieces of oshi-zushi, and each one takes a couple of bites to consume. It is a filling meal on its own. But if one wishes to indulge in more rice, they must look no further than the Beef or Seafood Chahan. The veritable mountain or rice comes bursting with spices, seasonings, and vegetables. Depending on the choice, it also comes with ground meat or chopped squid and fish. The seafood version is a must-try as it does not have a fishy, salty taste. Everything blends into a a savory, flavorful delight that can fill the stomachs of many a diner.

A trip to Rosanjin wouldn't be complete without ordering their specialty - Tobanyaki. It's Yakiniku cooked to your liking, on your table! They use a special grilling plate to keep the good-quality-meat-straight-from-Japan juicy. If you're ordering this, make sure to try their melts-in-your-mouth Japanese Wagyu, and my personal favorite, Seafood Platter - a combination Norwegian Salmon, Japanese Scallop and Shrimp. If you're the type to eat meat with rice, make sure to order their Seafood Chahan. Probably the best chahan I've ever had! Good for 2-3 persons, it comes with a big bowl of Miso soup, and loads and loads of seafood! It's a meal in itself! 👍🏼

Dude ignore this place. Day old rice on sushi. 1mm strips of fish on said rice which is borderline ripe. Then the sea urchin was just plain spoiled. Tasted like the bottom of an unclean fishtank. The all you can eat beef was just like a plate of fatty ends of those 10peso bbq sticks. The scallop looked and tasted like the bad side of the connective tissue scrap of a scallop. The tempura was the only saving grace. Not worth the price.

This is a go-to place for/if:-People who are craving for big, delicious rice bowls. -You're craving for Japanese cuisine that is better than Japanese fast food for a little higher price. -There is a mall-wide sale and you want a quiet, affordable dinner. You can splurge on their wide food choices as well. They boast their beef yakiniku. It's tender but honestly bland. Their sushi is good, but could be better. Service is good. I recommend this place!

Out of all the buffets in the 500 price point, this is certainly the best. I commend the two hour time limit which starts once your first order arrives. This ensures everyone on the wait list that they will have their turn. Plus points for the very effective & efficient staff for keeping everyone at bay.I do suggest ordering in bulk for your first order so that you can adjust your food, what you will like vs what you won't, and time accordingly while enjoying your dining experience.

This japanese resto had a menu revamp...now they only serve selected food for 499 all you can eat. We got intrigued as the price was reasonable for a japanese resto, all the more so, its all you can eat!Took us an hour to be seated since it was dinner time on a Sunday. I must say, this resto is undermanned! Service was really really bad! - no drinking water, we had to keep on asking- burner for yakiniku always rans out- food takes time to come outFood Quality, just so so- tempura quality is like fastfood, thick batter, not crunchy, small shrimp- maki has a lot of rice and tiny filling- tonkatsu has thicker bread crumbs than the meat itself - karaage was crunchy but not tasty. No mayo dip- noodle soup has nothing to rave about (i suggest share with another person so you wont fill with just noodles)- although the fatty yakiniku beef was tasty👍🏼Final verdict- If you’re really hungry and not after authentic japanese food, i think this will suffice. - don’t go during peak hours - order everything you want to order from the start to avoid long wait- for 499, its filling!

When we were in Mega Mall, I was craving for some sushi and yakiniku while my friend wanted to eat ramen. Luckily, we saw Rosanjin's menu and its promo: UNLIMITED RAMEN/YAKINIKU/SUSHI ROLL/TEMPURA! So we decided to eat here. But we waited for 20 minutes before one of the staff approached us. As they were still cleaning the tables (though they didn't prioritize cleaning the tables coz they were attending to the customers' orders). We almost lost our patience but still we waited because we really wanted to try their food. I must say, the food is worth the wait. The ramen has three flavors. We ordered tonkotsu ramen. The serving is large. It tastes good (but not as great as those offered by other japanese restaurants). Instead of tamago, the ramen is topped with boiled egg. For the yakiniku, you can choose if you want beef, pork, or chicken. We had 3 servings of pork and beef. Oh I love their meat! It's full of flavor! We also ordered a serving of tempura. Tasty!!!!For the sushi roll, there are a lot of flavors to choose from! We ordered Katsu roll which is really great! Very yummy! We also had Kani Salad partnered with Yakiniku. Unlimited ice cream is also included in Rosanjin's promo! Vanilla and Green Tea are the flavors. Though we weren't able to get a serving because we're already full. This is a must-try! This is the only Unlimited Promo that I enjoyed!

Availed of their 499 all-you-can-eat promo. However, around 5 menu items were not available - US Beef Yakiniku, shrimp nigiri sushi, etc.We ordered tuna and salmon nigiri sushi to start. Very disappointing as the fish was a measly cut on top of a huge bed of rice. Clearly meant to make you full rather quickly, but quality was not good.Kani Salad was next to arrive. Mangoes were sour, the mayonnaise was the cheap kind, and some of the lettuce wilted. The saving grace was the shrimp tempura and aburi salmon maki. These choices were good, which made me order more. However, my 3rd order of tempura was of poorer quality compared to the first two. The taste of old oil was evident in this last batch.Pork Yakiniku was just ok. Servers could use more training in courtesy. Probably not coming back here
