David and I don't really eat much at a Filipino restaurant every time we went out on a date for 2 reasons. First, we eat Filipino foods at home already and second, we always want to try something new. But this time, we decided to give it a shot before our free Star Wars movie block screening care of website.Chicharon Bulaklak- Heavy for appetizer but it's worth it! It was served hot so we totally enjoyed munching every bit of it.Crispy Tilapia w/ Tamarind Sauce- It's a fried Tilapia with a twist. The fish meat were cut into strips, deeply fried until crunchy and were placed back to it's body for presentation purposes. But it didn't end there, it was then drizzled with their unique tamarind sauce which made it stand out.Beef Steak Tagalog- What I love about beef steak was how the beef was marinated and how generous the onions were added. Fortunately, Recipe's Beef Steak Tagalog, won me over and had passed my criteria. I don't know how they did it but their Beef Steak Tagalog seemed so creamy and I like it.

Home-cooked Filipino dishes, without the carinderia atmosphere. I guess this was their basis of how each Filipino-Asian dish was meticulously prepared when they thought of Recipes Restaurant.Design concept of this restaurant is plain and simple. Very neat and clean looking. Price tab is very modest and serving size is good for sharing. All of these gives them an "A" rating from me.My personal favorites are:- Gising-gising- Lechon Kawali with Kangkong- General's Chicken- Crispy TilapiaService: 🌟🌟🌟🌟Value for Money: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

We ordered the following: gising gising, thai spring rolls, chicken curry, general's chicken and pork binagoongan. Almost everything we had were good. Only thing is, serving is too small. I.e each dish is only good for one person thus we had to order more and it ended up being pricey.

Store appearance / ambiance needs improvement especially in the part where their AC unit leaks. All other aspects like staff, service, and of course food are good👍 their sotanghon soup is so big for it price. Definitely gives value for money. Other faves: pinalutong na tilapia, gisinggising, and the tofu dish

Quite a good option for Filipino fare at Shang Plaza. We had a very good General's Chicken. Boneless chicken chunks glazed in vinegar and hoisin sauce served with grilled eggplant. Chicken Sotanghon soup was just what was needed for a rainy day. A good sized portion for just Php 155! Tofu with garlic sauce was tasty too.Pandan with ice cream was an ok dessertWorth a 3.5 if I had the choice

My parents and I had lunch here to celebrate Father's Day since he was craving for Filipino dishes and this restaurant happened to be near where we were at the mall. The place was small though so they set up our table outside near the escalators and the comfort room. There aren't that many items to choose from on the menu but it still took us quite a while to order. They're picky that way lol. Finally we settled on Thai Spring Rolls, Café Metro Chopsuey, General's Chicken, Mixed Seafood, Classic Garlic Rice, and Green Mango Shake.I like sour fruits more than sweet so I enjoyed the shake which had little bits of green mango in it. The general's chicken, though a little rubbery, was savory. But save for the shake and the chicken, everything was a letdown. The spring rolls were bland and I couldn't tell if the sauce that came with it was supposed to be sweet and sour because it was watered down. The chopsuey was really salty and the garlic rice so oily it was glistening. The mixed seafood was the biggest disappointment. It barely had variety that my parents kept on asking where the cream dory was. It only had a few pieces of small shrimps and a lot of squid tentacles. Not even meat. Tentacles.Nope. Not coming back here again.

The word is so-so, not something I would call great but not so terrible to merit a bad review. It's the word I'd use for our Recipes experience, I don't mean the step-by-step guide to cooking, I mean the restaurant, Recipes by Cafe Metro found in Greenbelt 3.The place has a minimalist feel that I found to be okay. The walls, furniture, and decors were mostly in white. I'm half-hearted about the lighting though, made us look deathly pale in pictures. The menu is predominantly Filipino, prices go from PHP150 to PHP300. We agreed to order and share two kinds of viand, (it's cheaper that way), and one side dish.We had Thai Spring Rolls (PHP138) for the appetizer, one serving gives you nine pieces. It goes with a sweet and sour sauce with strips of carrots. I found it weird; first time I saw a spring roll with glass noodles for a filling. Not sure what to make of it, needless to say it was my least favorite among the foods that we ordered. Then there's Lechon Kawali with Kangkong (PHP215). It was good, even the kangkong was tasty. The pork had the right crisp, not the type that would fight with your cutlery if you know what I mean. We also had Mixed Seafood (PHP250). It had pieces of squid, oyster, and shrimp with onions and green bell pepper. I liked it, especially the squid. We all had Cafe Metro Garlic Rice (PHP48). Not sure how is it any different from their regular garlic rice, all I know is that it smelled good, but there was nothing special about how it tasted.  It's one of those moments when being on a budget worked against us. I do hope that we just didn't order the best food on their menu but based on this experience, I think one visit is enough.

Recipes is a great place to have a no-fuss family meal. Great dishes to try together include:- the General's Chicken - a dish of deep-fried chicken with a sweet-salty-spicy sauce- the Crispy Tilapia - the generally mild taste is a good complement to the General's ChickenI find that these work well whether with plain or garlic rice.

Recipes is my go-to restaurant whenever I am craving for home-style comfort food. This time, I went for their Sinigang na Baboy and one of their crowd favourites, General's Chicken. The food was palatable and the service was great, as usual, though I found the serving of the General's Chicken a bit smaller than expected.
