I was curious to try Mongkok since this place is always busy though it has low ratings on website so we visited today post a movie in Shangri-La. We ordered Cantonese Noodles (Php 280), Beef Tenderloin (Php 280) and Jasmine Tea (Php 35). Service was prompt, the quantity was good for sharing but the taste was average which explains their ratings. Fresh ingredients were used but something was amiss. Servers were attentive and ambience was ok too. Overall, reasonable and average food.

They may not have the best dimsum in town but good enough for that quick craving fix. I was a bit disappointed with the shao long pao as they were all punctured making the soup drip all over. I usually want my shao long pao eaten with the dumpling soup inside it. The beef and vegetable fried noodle has generous servings of beef on it. Their lechon kawali does not have that crispy skin that I expected. The mixed vegetables doesn't really look as enticing as it was shown on the menu's picture.

Chinese dishes come up quite quickly on top when shortlisting menus for meet ups with friends. But this is the first time I've tried out Mongkok. Wasn't really too excited to eat because I just came rushing from a Bulalo-laden feast from an earlier brunch. MONGKOK SPECIAL FRIED RICEThe rice plate was very flavorful, very Chinese. It was a dish by itself already!QING DAO SPARERIBSThis dish is typically Chinese sweet and sour style. The pineapple taste wasn't too overpowering so it was definitely a nice blend to the beef dish we also ordered. But would've liked better if there were more pineapple chunks to bite into to emphasize the sweet/sour taste a bit more.Major drawback was that the meat was still very tough and chewy. SATE BEEF WITH KAILANWas very interested to know what Kailan was or meant and was surprised to know that it is the broccolli tops! Since I was looking for a veggie dish to match the ribs, I quickly suggested it. I am truly a veggie person but this is probably the last and only time I am trying this out because it was bitter to my taste. But the beef topping was very tasty and tender. One thing I loved about the place? The tall glass of refillable ice tea was a total thirst quencher!First time I've had four glasses in one sitting! Tasted very very good!Service was also fast and crew was attentive and polite. The place wasn't as loud as one would experience in a regular mall since the place is upscale and despite sitting almost parallel to the elevator and next to the walkway. Allowed us a conducive venue to chat. Food is just about right because you still get value for your money. Will pay another visit at another branch nearby to check for variances in their dishes, especially the ribs.

We got here around 8:30pm so the waiter was in a bit of a rush to get our orders in as he said their cook is leaving soon.We ordered: pork siomai, hakaw, seafood roll, and their appetizer combo. The appetizer combo is supposed to consist of century eggs, jellyfish, soy chicken, and hainanese chicken. I don't really like century eggs so I asked that be replaced with jellyfish. Then they were out of hainanese chicken so it was all soy chicken. No complaints though, the soy chicken was good. I particularly liked the ginger sauce because it was tasty. I was surprised at how hefty the serving was considering it was only P280.00. You get your money's worth for this one.The hakaw was okay. I don't know about the seafood roll because the bee ate it all by himself. I didn't like the siomai though. It tasted too mushroom-y.

We end up here often because chinese restaurants serve more food that my kids like to eat. The rice bowls were pretty value for money and i suggest ordering those instead of the ala carte food. The food is genrally not too oily and not too salty which is a nice change vs greasy and salty chinese food. Aircon is leaking on the table. Service is not really acceptable. Took them a while to prepare the food also. Mongkok seems stuck at so-so level and i think they are happy to be at their current state.

Flavorful and delicious. Every order is good for sharing. I would personally love to have the patatim to have more sweetness, but that's just me. Fried rice doesn't skimp on the ingredients also. One thing I noticed is that overtime, the food tasted more and more similar to each other. Hakaw is plump and juicy. Foods are reasonable priced but nor memorable.

Century egg is almost rotten. They said "ganyan po talaga" -_- this is the only place I've been to that's served century egg with that consistency. They wouldn't change it. The tofu with shrimp dimsum in the photo had fresh tofu but it was served as fried tofu. Unexpected and disappointing. The food tasted cheap and not fresh. Thank god they gave a lot of calamansi and soy sauce to soak everything in.

Mongkok is like Chinese comfort food for me. Splitting orders of Yangchow Fried Rice, Fried Shrimp Salad Puff, Pork Siomai and Lemon Chicken with a friend is a filling and highly varied meal.

After watching a movie in Shangri La, we headed to the nearest place to eat which is Mongkok.I wasn't so hungry so I ordered their bestseller, Seaweed and crab roll. My companion ordered a Brisket Rice, and Shao Long Pao. With drinks, we both agreed on Jasmine Tea.They served the rice bowl first which my friend and I shared. It was decent or just typical. Not bad, but not good. It was ok. Then we tried the dimsum. The Shao Long Pao didn't look fresh. It looked as if that they've been steaming it for days. The taste is not fresh, the wrapping tear away easily as we picked it up with chopsticks, the meat inside was rancid, we couldn't eat any further. The seaweed roll on the other hand did not look appetizing, then with one bite I got even more disappointed. They said this was their bestseller but the nori made the whole piece too fishy. I had to dip the whole thing with soy sauce just to mask the unpleasant taste.Overall, I wasn't too happy with the experience. Probably no repeat visits for me. The food didn't taste good, to think the place wasn't too busy. The staff were friendly and efficient enough but the food needs improvement.

I have dined here a lot of times already. My wife likes noodle soups and I like dimsums. The food here is quite good and the taste is always consistent. Another consistent thing about this place though is the poor service. I don't like following up my orders when I dine out but this place almost always forces me to.If you like good Chinese food then Mongkok is a good choice, but just don't come here when you're already hungry.
