KOOL KIDS is an ice cream house by Miguel Aranaz and by Chef Mark Tan of Allium, specializing in Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream. This is a unique dessert place you should not miss when you visit SM Mega Fashion Hall.Kool Kids is located on the 5F of Mega Fashion Hall, beside Lucca and near the SM Skating Rink. They offer different kinds of flavors turned into ice cream on the spot using liquid nitrogen. Miguel decided to leave his graphic designer career and their family business to pursue his passion for creating liquid nitrogen ice cream. From the fresh cow's milk cream base, you only have to wait for a few minutes for it to turn into extra smooth and creamy ice cream without the icy crystals.Yuzu (Regular - P150, Large - P230). Japanese Lime. The Yuzu is my favorite. If you're looking for a light, tangy taste that is refreshing, this flavor is for you.  Nuts 4 Nutella (Regular - P120, Large - P190). Nutella-infused.The Nutella is an all-time favorite. You can really taste the chocolate hazelnut flavor infused into the ice cream. Piña Colada (Regular - P150, Large - P230). Pineapple, Coconut, and Rum.For those who are lactose intolerant, order the Piña Colada made from pineapple and coconut juice with a bit of rum.  They also create this cool ice cream popcorn, which is crisp on the outside and melts in your mouth. They make their own wafers, which have just the right crunch and sweetness.Make sure to order a pack to enjoy with your ice cream.Another fun creation is the FroDough, which is a gourmet take on the dirty ice cream on monay. Nuts 4 Nutella FroDough (P90/each). Kool Kids Ice Cream inside a fresh warm doughnut. The liquid nitrogen ice cream is sandwiched into a doughnut. Miguel Aranaz's story is very inspiring. He's another example of those "crazy ones" who pursued their passion. Congrats! Order the Nuts 4 Nutella or Yuzu flavor in FroDough form or with their wafers. Budget about P150/head. The kids and kids-at-heart would surely enjoy seeing the liquid nitrogen in action.

At first, I was kinda excited to taste their ice cream treats but when we got there around 12PM there's only one person/staff/crew in charge so we waited for 15 or 20 minutes on our order to be serve and she was kinda sluggish pa and nalilito pa kasi mali yung change niya samin. We ordered Nana & Ella (Banana + Nutella + Cinnamon + Wafers), Barok Obama (Chocolate + Nuts + Mallows) and also cookies. The ice cream was good tasting, it wasn't that bad. I love the Nana & Ella!!! 👍I just hope when we get back in this store, there'll be more crew so we dont have to wait so long.

Kool kids, as the name suggests -- COOL! Was just so excited how this made-to-order soft served ice cream using liquid nitrogen feels and looks like (and to lessen my frustration as I haven't been to Iscreamist yet). Yup, it's made right in front of you while the liquid nitrogen puffs cool gas! (Funny, I even had a video of it. lol)They only have less than 10 flavors I think as this is just a newly opened store if I'm not mistaken. Their best seller is the NANA & ELLA flavor (which we tried), consists of banana, nutella, and wafer. And I must say, it was a perfect one! Really of good taste and a unique flavor also. Can be in cup, cone, and they have sandwich ice cream too plus some toppings. I think they also offer cookies and others. Staffs were very nice and enthusiastic. Would love to try their sandwich ice cream on my next visit. The only no-no was the little amount of serving you get for the price of 190php compared to other ice cream and gelato parlors.

Who knows that those traditional ice cream that we used to grow up with will be given a new face of the different ice cream company, vendors and parlor today like Kool Kids and what makes their ice cream truly unique is the merging of old-school, hand churned ice cream, and new-age liquid nitrogen freezing. They put together two techniques from two different eras that they think work well together to provide a fresher, creamier, and most flavorful ice cream. One thing is that they made your order right in front of you.

Making ice cream from scratch is a bit of a hard work but if the combinations are done right then you get excellent results. That's what we experienced in Kool Kids at the Mega Fashion Hall. After a sumptuous dinner, me and my friends wanted to get some dessert and we wanted to try something new and not the usual coffee at Starbucks or the like. So that's why we ended up here. I ordered their caramel flavor (if I remember correctly) and they made my ice cream from scratch. Amazing! And I loved how it tasted, not overly sweet. My friends liked how their orders tasted too. Their price is reasonable too. Will I come back here? Definitely. Love all the fun fare that came in making this ice cream.

Nana & Ella and The Hangover Krew for a dessert adventure in the Mega Trade Hall. I've never tried ice cream made from liquid nitrogen so this was a first.I've heard a lot of concept stores for ice creams and Kool Kids was one of the firsts for me to try. The ambiance was very young and colorful. The counter looked like a mad kid scientist out on a roll for a treat. The variety of flavors at that day were pretty minimal. A friend and I had Nana & Ella (Banana + Nutella + Wafers) and Hangover Krew (Milk + Cereal + Whiskey). The first one was more on the banana side tho I exepected it to be more on the chocolate side. The latter rather, did have a kick. I tasted the whiskey every after each spoonful. Bitter and strong. The price was just fine for me. (150 for two scoops and two toppings) It was a unique experience yet, nothing too fancy or extraordinary. Worth a try for the kids and kids at heart.

After having dinner, my friend and I decided to have dessert at Kool Kids. It's not your usual ice cream parlour because they make their ice cream from scratch. How? By using liquid nitrogen. It was an amazing scene to watch, it was as if the process of making the ice cream was taken out of a science experiment.I am a fan of vanilla ice cream so I got the Maddie Nilla, made of Madagascar Vanilla, and I made the right choice because I liked how creamy it was. My friend, on the other hand, decided to get the Nana & Ella, banana + nutella + cinnamon + wafers. The cinnamon flavor was too strong for me but my friend liked it.I think I'll go back to try the other flavors when summer comes.

Kool Kids though uses a unique process in making their ice cream, which is by using liquid nitrogen.  If you are curious about “liquid nitrogen”, according to Wikipedia, it’s nitrogen in liquid form. Nitrogen is a safe element which is one of the components of the air we breathe. When in liquid form, it is crystal clear like water and you can pour it in the food you are preparing. Once the liquid touch your food, it will freeze in seconds.Liquid nitrogen is not at all new when it comes to freezing ice cream. Actually, the owner of Kool Kids himself Miguel Arranaz, admitted that Philippines is quite late when it comes to this aspect. I remember, I use to watch Top Chef ( a contest of the best chefs in town in USA) and some of the contestants there were using liquid nitrogen, and that was a few years back. But looking at the bright side of it, at least, the technology is here already and we have entrepreneurs already gaining from this technology to provide us new food varieties.Kool Kids offer a modestly sized scoop of ice cream and it will make you feel full already before you even finish one scoop. Their ice creams are very creamy and flavorful and each cup is topped with a small circular crispy waffle. Because they make their ice cream in small batches only, you know your ice cream was made fresh, not that standing for a long time in their display cart. Kool Kids also offer pastries aside from ice cream. Their chocolate chip cookies are huge and the chocolates used inside are sweet and delicious.Whisky Flavored Ice Cream and Party PackagesOne new thing I learned from Kool Kids is that they are able to create ice creams infused with alcoholic drinks (FOR ADULTS ONLY). I was able to taste one scoop of ice cream with whiskey. As I am not a drinker ( the hardest drink I can bear to take in is San Mig Light), I couldn’t appreciate it very much but I am certain that drinkers will definitely love this treat.  Kool Kids cater to parties and as they can customize their ice creams pretty easily, it won’t be surprising if the business looks good in the future. After all, Filipinos love sweets and the craving for ice cream never dies.
