At first I was expecting this food outlet to be like one of the run of the mill pseudo Japanese fastfood joint.exvpecting a low priced yet low quality products but I was wrong. We ordered the kimchi katsudon and salmon teriyaki. Each meal comes with a free miso soup ,the miso soup was flavorful and good, the kimchi was nice tho not that strong in the heat element. The pork was well cooked and tender, the salmon's texture and taste was pleasant.Veggies were freshly cooked upon ordered. Will rate this via the following:Food-4Price-4.5Staff-4Location-3.5Nice iced tea too.

I really liked to dine in this food outlet whenever i feel like eating japanese food, but on a tight budget. You really get what you paid for! Taste and service was really good!

Got their Tempura Udon (P135). I thought it was a steal for the price, especially when the food got out looking like something from an expensive restaurant. But when I tried it, it was waaay too salty. The cook deserves to be reprimanded for wasting ingredients and consequently, losing potential suki.

We’re planning to try everything at SM Megamall food court and this is the first stall on one side of the food court. I tried the Ham & Cheese Katsu and also got a salmon sashimi while my husband got the Chicken Katsu. Unlike the other stalls, they have their own Japanese-themed tray. Looks so fancy for a food court stall. They really put an effort in plating their food. The Salmon Sashimi was arranged to look like a flower. Slices were thin but understandable given the cheap price. I’m not sure if it’s not fresh or there’s something off with the soy sauce but I didn’t like it that much. The Katsus were also beautifully plated. It’s like I’ve dined at a Japanese restaurant. I was hesitant at first ‘coz it looked so crispy but when I took a bite, it was just right. I loved the Ham & Cheese Katsu. It even comes with shredded cabbage with sesame dressing. We went back after two weeks and I had the katsu again but I was a bit disappointed with it. It didn’t taste as good as the one I’ve tried before. The oil used tasted old. I wish they’ll be more consistent with their food.

Hoshimaru is located at SM Megamall food court. It offers different varieties of japanese food from sushi, sashimi, to bento boxes. I ordered their omurice. It was big, delicious and affordable!! Will definitely go back to try the other dishes.

Don't think that because it's located in the food court that the servings of their food are scant. I almost didn't finish the Fish Katsu, Sashimi Dubbop and 4 pc Maki I ordered. Crew members are well informed, gave recommendations based on what you want.

Craving for Japanese food but on a budget? Hoshimaru is the answer!FOOD: I ordered Salmon Sashimi (Php 140) and Maki (4pcs/Php 75). I liked how the Salmon Sashimi food plating is nicely done in a rose presentation. The expectation from their menu picture was followed and executed so well. However do not expect much from the Maki. PLACE: Located in Mega Food court. They're easily visible if coming from Toy Kingdom side entrance.SERVICE: Staff are really nice and accommodating. I also liked how they know well their menu.VERDICT: Recommendable for those who are craving Japanese but on a budget. Will try soon their rice toppings or their Meal set. The rose-shaped Salmon Sashimi is perfect for those who really are Sashimi addict like me! :)

The price for these food are unbelievable. It's cheap and fits your budget but you'll get more than what you paid for, not just your main dish + separate drink when you buy from the food court. The food is delicious, my favorite is the Pork Katsu, I'll never get tired of it

I ordered the Donkatsu (pork katsu).  Well, for starters, the pork is over cooked to a point where I can no longer distinguish which is the pork and which is he breading. Thin as it is yet they still managed to over cooked it.  Is it just me or did I come to their store in their chef's bad hair day?  I did not enjoy a bit of any of the food on the set.  Miso soup was... Bleh.  Oh well, at least the salad was ok, decent say the least.  For Php105, I could get a juicy Katsudon from a nearby restaurant. I'm never coming back. Not worth my money.
