At first I was expecting this food outlet to be like one of the run of the mill pseudo Japanese fastfood joint.exvpecting a low priced yet low quality products but I was wrong. We ordered the kimchi katsudon and salmon teriyaki. Each meal comes with a free miso soup ,the miso soup was flavorful and good, the kimchi was nice tho not that strong in the heat element. The pork was well cooked and tender, the salmon's texture and taste was pleasant.Veggies were freshly cooked upon ordered. Will rate this via the following:Food-4Price-4.5Staff-4Location-3.5Nice iced tea too.

I really liked to dine in this food outlet whenever i feel like eating japanese food, but on a tight budget. You really get what you paid for! Taste and service was really good!

Got their Tempura Udon (P135). I thought it was a steal for the price, especially when the food got out looking like something from an expensive restaurant. But when I tried it, it was waaay too salty. The cook deserves to be reprimanded for wasting ingredients and consequently, losing potential suki.

We’re planning to try everything at SM Megamall food court and this is the first stall on one side of the food court. I tried the Ham & Cheese Katsu and also got a salmon sashimi while my husband got the Chicken Katsu. Unlike the other stalls, they have their own Japanese-themed tray. Looks so fancy for a food court stall. They really put an effort in plating their food. The Salmon Sashimi was arranged to look like a flower. Slices were thin but understandable given the cheap price. I’m not sure if it’s not fresh or there’s something off with the soy sauce but I didn’t like it that much. The Katsus were also beautifully plated. It’s like I’ve dined at a Japanese restaurant. I was hesitant at first ‘coz it looked so crispy but when I took a bite, it was just right. I loved the Ham & Cheese Katsu. It even comes with shredded cabbage with sesame dressing. We went back after two weeks and I had the katsu again but I was a bit disappointed with it. It didn’t taste as good as the one I’ve tried before. The oil used tasted old. I wish they’ll be more consistent with their food.

Hoshimaru is located at SM Megamall food court. It offers different varieties of japanese food from sushi, sashimi, to bento boxes. I ordered their omurice. It was big, delicious and affordable!! Will definitely go back to try the other dishes.
