Strolling down Shangri La for gift items, I spotted this restaurant and thought I would give it a try while resting my tired feet. It was late afternoon snack time for me so I went for the lightest pasta I could find in their menu. Baked Ziti it was, and a glass of their nice house blend iced tea. I was the lone diner. I waited 15 minutes, more or less, for my food which is fine by me. The dish smelled wonderful and came in big serving portion almost good for sharing. But I was let down by its side bread that tasted old and proved a bit tough to chew. It didn’t stop there, though. The pasta, although perfectly al dente, was bathed in very salty sauce. Minus the nasty saltiness it would have been really delicious, I can imagine.

Whenever I crave for Italian pizza, I usually go to Balboa. The price is pretty steep but the taste and flavor are worth it! I was quite sad when the branch in Greenbelt closed down so now I have to go all the way to Shangri-La. I’m hoping they open another branch in Makati soon. The staff are accommodating, their pizzas are delicious, and the lasagna is nice and cheesy. 🧀

Food Coma in BalboaWe tried Balboa for the first time. And we were pleasantly surprised and satisfied with our meal. The salad had the right mix with a flavourful dressing. The clam chowder was thick and tasty with mussels. The salmon on mushroom risotto was perfectly cooked. And the balsamic pork was deliciously tender, like an adobo with an italian twist. And our watermelon cucumber was very refreshing. We’ll definitely try Balboa again. 😋 Food 5/5 Drinks 4.5/5 Cleanliness 5/5 Ambience 5/5 Price 3/5 Service 4.5/5
