Ambiance:  Intimidating.  It's actually a French fine dining restaurant.  What supposedly is a coffee break with my parents on their long-awaited visit in Manila turned to an expensive snack.  It offers a modern interior and since we were dressed casually we just stayed out and dined al fresco.  It turned out to be disappointing since I left the place with mosquito bites. Service:  As expected with elegantly themed resto, service is utmost par excellance.  The wait-staff was very courteous and cheerful.   Fast delivery of our orders as well.Food Recommendation:We started off with the bun and butter (complimentary) while we waited and eagerly asked the server which he could recommend.Yes it was supposedly a cup of coffee only for me and another for my father, a one refreshing cup of hot tea for Mama, but we ended up checking the menu and ordering We ordered the Trio Mushrooms. Sauteed Portabello, Shitake and button mushrooms in garlic and olive oil, is an easy dish to do but costly here at Zuni. Good enough to fill a diabetic adult's tummy without worrying about blood sugar going berserk. Oh it's actually part of the Appetizer menu.  Avocado Scallop Cheviche. Cheviche from what typically known to us Filipinos as "kinilaw", a South-American dish, though raw fish or seafood are mixed with lemon or lime. This expensively concocted dish is satisfying and can understandably explain itself why it costs that much...raw scallop in lime juice and avocado (the fruit being not in season usually is costly). The Vanilla Espresso Panna cotta. Has a silky, smooth texture that would have you automatically go, oohhh, ummm....It was absolutely, deliriously delicious. The espresso and vanilla suited me well, I did find the elaborate design of the strawberry and mango syrup fascinating but I like it better without it, for it kinda ruined the whole coffee creamy gelatin-y taste of the egg- less custard.Oh I almost forgot to talk about the much awaited topic, my cup of Joe, well there's nothing good about it...that's it! You may want to check out their menu and see for yourself if this is champagne taste on a beer budget..

When in Makati for business I must stop at Zuni for a meal. This is one of my favorite restaurants to dine at. I'm sure I will visit here a couple more times before heading home on this trip.

Zuni's warm and charming atmosphere is really impressive. I think the incongruity with its surroundings even adds to the charm because you don't expect it. The interior is like a modern, upscale French/Italian restaurant. There are a few vegan options for salad and pasta though nothing is marked as such, (so you have to ask), no vegan desserts, and last time I was there, some mysterious bits of what looked like Pancetta (the waiter said he didn't know what it was) and a single long non-vegan noodle made its way into my friend's dish but it was easily separable. I mentioned because if they're reading this - please take greater care to separate the ingredients. Our waiter was knowledgeable and gave us recommendations on the food. The bruschetta was nice with the olives. I'm not a fan of olives normally but it worked well with the sweet tomatoes and aromatic basil of the bruschetta. My Papardelle Steak with Truffle Oil pasta was perfectly al dente. The Porcini mushroom sauce in the Ravioli dish could've used more salt and the table salt was there to do just that. For my entree, I ordered the Chilean Seabass in Mustard Beurre Blanc sauce and it did not disappoint. Imagine chewing on a fluffy cloud packed with bold flavor--it was like eating the most delicious air!  They also have an amazing raw oyster selection, great wine list, and top-notch meat dishes.Prices are reasonable and the salads are huge, you can share one. For dessert, I had the Coffee Crunch Souffle with Banana Caramel ala mode and it was phenomenal! The quality of the food is high and the portions are just right. You can't go wrong here. Anything on the menu is perfectly put together with great care. Ingredients are simple but dishes are complex in their simplicity. Prices are great for the quality and portion of what you get. I highly recommend Zuni to anyone visiting Greenbelt or Makati area.

Located in Greenbelt 5 along the quiet corner away from all the gimmick crowds, we found this food and wine spot to cap a Friday night. The interiors are a bit formal but cozy enough for private conversations as the tables are set a good space apart from each other. We had wine and the cheese platter (see pix). We thought pizza would be good but it was unavailable at the time. The wine selections are a bit pricey for casual drinks but they have this promo at the time that goes 50% off. Staff are very welcoming and comfortable to talk to. Would love to see more on the menu though.

I would like to start my review by telling everyone that THEY HAVE THE HEARTIEST AND MEATIEST BAKED LAMB LASAGNA EVER!!!! okay, but let me share what my dining experience was like.I was skeptical at first because of it's warm setting and the lack of photos in their menu when you're seated at the table, but still, I decided to sit back and just enjoy! It was hard to choose what to eat at first but thank God their staff are actually WELL KNOWLEDGED about their menu. I wanted something with white sauce.. But seems like their pasta menu is mostly tomato sauce except for the very interesting fetuccinni with sea urchin. Their staff suggested that if I really wanted white sauced pasta, they can cook some carbonara for me! So nice! But of course, I didnt want to cause hassle, so I went for the baked lamb lasagna. My brother had the braised lamb shank with pimiento rice. The lamb shank was good and the rice was plated nicely. My mom's chicken galantino had a mixture of sour and sweet and it was weird at first, but I think it's good! We also had their caesar salad, which for me isn't really worth it considering the price, and it's nothing really special except for the cheese they used. My baked lamb lasagna would probably the best of all our orders. It was so meaty, and so yummy!! Serving was BIG and it was so good I finished it. It could do with more cheese but I really liked it nevertheless. I would recommend it to anyone. For dessert, I may have regretted ordering the dessert sampler because I think I was paying for the wonderful plating... It wasnt really special. And their lava cake was too grainy and there wasnt any warm chocolate oozing from the inside...maybe it's too small. The chocolate bar was yummy though.Zuni, overall, for me is a so-so restaurant, I wasnt really impressed with the food, except for the fact that I loved my baked lamb lasagna. I don't know if we ordered the wrong dishes? But I would like to try their other entrees next time, because I think theres more to what we had last night. I wish I ordered the banana souffle instead. If only I'm not one to shy away from seafood and tomato sauce... Food is of course expensive, but serving is big. Orange juice costed around 250! But ambiance is nice and servers are very very very nice. Had a very pleasant dinner. If I am only judging it for the lasagna, I would give it 3.5, but I think for now since I wasnt really impressed, I'll go for 3.0.

This is an update on Zuni in Greenbelt 5. This time, we decided to try their Power Lunches, 11AM to 2PM, Mondays to Fridays only.. Food's still good. Serving size was just perfect for quick lunch. Our orders came 30 minutes later, though. Perhaps they'd consider that some guests really are on a lunch break, with only an hour to spare. Lunch plates: Php400-500 per plate. Add ons for soup, salad, or dessert: Php100-195.

Ate dinner here on a Friday night. Ambiance was good. There is good spacing between the tables such that it felt private eventhough the place was nearly full. There was live music but it wasn't too loud as to prevent proper conversation. Service is good; the waiters are attentive and they never let your glass become empty. Lighting is not too bright but is enough for you to see your dining companions as well as the food. Ordered the Spiced Salmon and the Penne, Hungarian, and Chicken Pasta. Both dishes were cooked well though it did take some time before the food was served (waiting time was probably 20-30 minutes). It was, however, worth the wait. The sweetness of the mango complimented the salmon and the saltiness of the torched salmon skin. The Penne was like summer in a plate with the welcome addition of the herbaceous flavor of the arugula balancing the savory taste of the Hungarian sausage. Pasta was cooked al dente. Will definitely go back. 😊

It was a tiring friday at work and we're looking for a cozy place where we can eat a good food. And we found this..I don't know if it's casual fine dining or what..but all I can say is that I love the ambiance. The place is clean with a relaxing background music, perfect for a date. ☺ I also love their service our food was quickly served. The staff are nice and accomodating. The food is superb👌...but it is also pricy!! Haha I guess we can go back here once in a while..☺

Just like any restaurant there are hits and misses.  As of May 12,2018 their aircon at the function room does not work.  I just realized, when making a reservation you need to ask if the aircon is in good working condition.  Its not fun at all eating dinner during summer at a stuffy, humid, half assed airconditioned room.... midway through dinner youll end up not wanting to move or talk or laugh, out of fear of breaking a sweat.  Even is they had fans, it is useless since the place is enclosed, it just circulated the humid almost warm stuffy air.  Service was very good, servers were very accommodating and friendly.  I went to have dinner here to celebrate the birthday of a dear friend's mom and all things considered this is a nice place to go to for birthdays, if the aircon is working. This is not a family style restaurant and servings are good for one person only but each serving is considerably large for one person.  For starters I tried the Caesar salad which was really good, they used baked pita bread (I think) to replace the croutons but there was no bacon, but the dressing was good.  I also tried their french onion soup, this was very good and tasty, but it was not as hot as i wanted it to be, which may be a good thing coz the room temp was muggy.  When I broke the crust i was expecting it to be smoking, it didnt, it was like they just used a torch to "bake" the onion soup so inside it was "room temp".  Oh basically all the food we ordered was not hot as it should be.  I like food that is served smoking hot not warm.  I am assuming the food was prepared way beforehand which is fine but they just used a warmer to heat it up.  I would have been fine with them microwaving it to make it hot.  I also tried their baked oysters, it was very good. The blackened steak was very good, cooked just the way i wanted it, medium to medium rare.  The lamb chops was also well prepared and flavorful.  The chicken was so so, very tender but needed a ton of gravy.  All their fish items were well made.  The salmon was a good serving, very thick and cooked all the way through perfectly.  The siding for their main courses were very well made.  Their sweet potato croquettes were impeccable.  The lobster pasta was also very delicious.  Well its not a lobster lobster.... it was in the "family" of lobster, but just the same very good.  For dessert everything was awesome.  All things considered, their food was really delicious, nothing was bad.  I would have enjoyed this more if the aircon was working well.

Zuni has been around in Greenbelt for 10+ years. Glad to note it's maintained its quality and service standards all this time. We had a glass of French Syrah and Prosecco to start.Ceaser Salad was quite good with garlic croutons. Our mains were Peppered Steak and BBQ Baby Back Ribs. Steak was excellent with a nice peppery crust. Ribs were fall-off-the-bone in a nice Southern BBQ sauce. Panna Cotta and Red velvet dessert was actually two small desserts in one order!
