Real Texas BBQ; owner is from Houston. Pulled pork and ribs were my favorites, good sauce. Corn bread muffin was a stand out. Negatives were food needed to be hot, beans were bland. Acid test: yes, I'll go back

If you're looking for succulent, fall-off-the-bone smoked bbq like they do in Texas, then welcome home. The ribs, the brisket, the pulled porkIt's an all-star lineup, and you WILL have trouble deciding which to attack first which is why I ordered the 1-pounder with all three included. Trust me, you can't go wrong. The sides are awesomeMac & cheese, beans, and dirty rice. Each one goes fantastically well with any of the meats.Cheap beerOf course, it all gets washed down with great local beer, at a great local price.DessertsAnd if you still got room for dessert, believe me, you won't be disappointed. I sampled each one and they were all fantastic.SpaceWith the lights down low, it makes the space relaxed, cozy, friendly and a perfect spot for good conversation with friends and family.ChallengeIf you think you can find a better value and experience anywhere in Metro Manila, I dare you to challenge me. Better yet, go to Texas first then compare the quality and price offered at Woody's. At some point, my words will make sense to you. And if you never see the light, oh well, there's not much more I can say...

Recently ate at Woody’s Texas BBQ, which just opened at the site of the original Chihuahua Tex-Mex Bar & Grill on Makati Ave (across from A-Venue).The revised décor is interesting, with wooden partitions, a “barrel-bar” with a faded “news clipping” motif that made the place look eons old! They also have a real smoker out in front where they do their magic with the meat. The menu was pretty good, with a range of meat options, a fair number of sides and an excellent selection of beers, plus the classic Chihuahua “Chihuaritas!”My family was with me, so we chose a number of items, including the ribs, pulled pork and brisket. All were excellent. I found the standard BBQ sauce a bit sweet for my taste, though it was tangy. Their hot BBQ sauce was too tame for me, so I grabbed a bottle of Chihuahua’s “Charlie Sheen” hot sauce hanging out on the shelves. Much better! While the side dish selection was good, the dirty rice was a bit dry. I like a mayo-cider vinegar dressing on my slaw, so Woody’s drier slaw was not my favorite, but refreshing still against the smokiness of the pulled pork. The grilled corn on the cob, baked beans and mashed potatoes were all very good. Liked the jalapeno corn bread, but it could’ve used more jalapeno! As with the sauces, my tastes run to spicier concoctions than others, so it’s perhaps not fair to say their food isn’t hot enough. The portions were good and the food was served on metal plates with a paper liner, adding to the BBQ feel. Overall, excellent smoked meats and side dishes, in a friendly, casual atmosphere. Definitely going back to try the “hot links” sausages!

The food would've been way way way better if it were served hot. I had the brisket-sausage sandwich, it had good flavors and nice texture (I like how the sausage felt nicely handmade) but it was served room temperature and the bread used was a bit on the stale side.

First time I heard about this place, I remembered FRANKLINS in Austin Texas. When I tried this place, this woodys is totally a disappointment. Meat was soft so it was okay. But the taste was Nevermind. And it wasn't hot/warm. Price is okay. Definitely won't go back.
