We went to Unakichi last Frisay. The resto specializes in different eel dishes. The location is near Makati Cinema Square, and right beside a show club. Quite not ideal place, yet the website in us don't really mind. The place has nice lighting with neat interiors. Entering the place, most of the diners when we came in are Japanese. We had:🇯🇵Umaki, rolled eel omelette🇯🇵Unadon (P590) grilled fine eel in a large bowl🇯🇵Unatamadon (P590) grilled fine eel cooked with egg & onionsVerdict: i am not an expert in terms of eel dishes. All the dishes were okay though nothing spectacular. But my bf, who happens to be an unagi fanatic is not satisfied. Also, we find it a bit pricey.

Restaurant specializing in Japanese style eel. So far it the best eel place I've been around Makati. Quality is superb for all the food including the tofu. Its the few legit japanese place where japanese expats go to for lunch. It is pricey but understable as ingredients they use are fresh.

You would expect a restaurant specializing in eel to offer a transcendent experience compared to what you can find in less focused Japanese dining, but what I received here was just passing average. Nothing to really complain about, but I’d have a hard time really remembering this meal over the many other lunch sets I’ve tried from restaurants in the area. Which isn’t all bad - the MCS vicinity Japanese restos are mostly decent and sufficiently authentic; Unakichi doesn’t feel out of place in their good company.

    値段の割に美味しくない、鰻も泥臭い。 総じてコストパフォーマンス悪すぎ。 席によっては小さいゴキブリが出るので気を付けてください。

The Food:Their unagi (river eel) is love! Get only half but the serving looks pretty generous & you still get a lot of eye-catching side dishes. The way they present edamame is interesting, even though they were only 3 pieces! Get a lunch set for more value. Free hot/cold tea. Don't be shy to ask for more. The fruit is sliced from below so you can bite right out of the peel like a pro!The Ambience:I only saw the front part of the restaurant and I'm impressed. It's roomy and cozy with good air-conditioning. Eating at the bar-type seats at the left side is always fun, and groups of 2-4 can take the tables on the right side. There seem to be more seats at the back but I have yet to explore that area. The Hours:Lunch and Dinner time only. The Overall Experience:WONDERFUL!I'd definitely come back to try their other dishes. I love shake (salmon) and saba (mackerel) so my scent is locked! Eating here is very relaxing.

Authentic unagi just like I've had abroad. Was very satisfied with the quality of the eel, and how they cooked it... Eel was not overcooked as it often is. Will come again. Other reviewers say it's pricy but you gotta pay for quality.

Outside interior is nice. When you enter the place, interior is simple. Food is overpriced. 1000-1500 budget per head. For the price, I am not that full.

I had high expectations from this restaurant since I am a fan of hitsumabashi, which I discovered during my 2015 visit to Nagoya. After all I am not aware of any restaurant in Manila serving this dish. So I made my way all the way to Makati Cinema Square from QC. However, I was deeply disappointed. The unagi was dry and tasted like the vacuum-packed ones available at S&R. It also lacked the charcoal-grilled taste. I felt like the P1,500+ I paid was too much for the experience. To make things worse, there was a baby cockroach crawling around the bar area. I would squirm whenever it got close, and the staff tried to squash it but the little bug kept on escaping. Because of this, I got the impression that the restaurant was dirty.
