UCC is one the best coffee places to go to for both dining and coffee. excellent for meetings as different people in the meeting might have different requirements like a real meal or maybe a sandwich with their coffee. also the setup is more ample for meetings rather than a starbucks-style setup.

Writing this review because I just recently tried their Rice Casseroles and they were gooooood! Didn’t give a perfect score because they’re not that cheap as are most of the items in UCC.I am a huge fan of Unagi especially the Yoshinoya Rice Bowls in Japan (they don’t have it in Manila) so this rice casserole was heaven in my mouth! The unagi serving was surprisingly “big”, just the right amount to finish the curried rice pilaf which was baked with white sauce and mozzarella cheese - yummy sounding right? Well, it was! Will definitely go back for this.My other favorites in UCC are the Seafood Salad and the Beef Yakiniku Rice Topping.Promo alert: Bookyapp offers Buy 1 Get 1 on UCC drinks and desserts depending on the location. For this branch it was the Ice Brendo. Pay only ₱190 for 2 which can be different flavors. We had the White Chocolate Mocha and Almond Roca but there are many other flavors to choose from like espresso, caramel, vanilla etc.

Yesterday, I had my own solo food tripping, as I needed more content to fill up my Instagram account. You might have noticed my fascination with anything Ube, and so I visited UCC to take a shot of their Okinawa Sweet Purple Potato Latte. I loved the drink! It had an amazing balance of Japanese tea and notes of Ube in it. I appreciated that it wasn’t sweet, just the right amount of sugar. UCC also has other Ube items here for you to check out, just in case you are looking for it too. They have three cakes with Ube in them! Yum.

Last night's fun with friends did not stop with dinner. We looked for a place for dessert and found our way from Power Plant to One Rockwell and ended up here at UCC. There was a cake set on offer which included a vanilla mille crêpe, a chocolate one and two other cakes. In addition, we ordered the special halo-halo cake. For drinks, some had tea while others (me included) opted for water. The cake set was good. I tried both mille crêpes and they were ok. They were light, with mild flavours and not too sweet. In contrast, the halo-halo cake was decadent! It was rich, filled with your usual halo-halo ingredients and served with ice cream for that final touch. The cake itself was moist and not too dense and the filling sweet and added a layer of texture. The ice cream was a good complement to the ube (yum) flavour. It was a beauty of a dessert, tempting and sinfully gratifying.

One fine morning, on the day where Ms. TravelingBoots once again was enticed by the aroma of coffee, stumbled this place called UCC (UESHIMA COFFEE CO., LTD.). It is a coffee place that originated in Kobe Japan. If there is one order you should never miss in this place, it is the “Kori Kohi”. It is a glass full of coffee ice cubes that will be mixed and melted using a warm milk and honey. Isn’t it a smart way of re-inventing coffee experience friends?!

We went here after a tiring badminton game, on a late rainy Thursday night. I wanted a rice meal initially but shifted to ordering carbonara and kani salad. The carbonara was al dente, creamy, tasty and had a generous amount of bacon and cheese. It was topped with poached egg. The kani salad was a stand out. It was the best kani salad I ever had in terms of inclusions and portions. The serving plate was full and it was topped with almonds and elbiko finished with their yummy Japanese salad dressing. If it weren't very late, I would have tried their coffee. To sum up our visit, food was delectable, service was efficient and restroom was available.May I suggest that the staff also feel the room temperature and adjust as necessary. It was too cold at that time and the cool temperature may cause discomfort for some customers. 😃

I was supposed to review a Brazilian restaurant but, alas, my research for its location was faulty. This left me plenty of options in Rockwell Powerplant Mall. So, how did I end up dining at this upscale cafe tucked away from hustle and bustle of Makati? The restaurants at the mall were too crowded, and didn't have that sense of mystique that I want to uncover. Also, while I was strolling around Rockwell, a small art gallery on 8 Rockwell's ground floor caught my eye.The cafe is on the 2nd floor and you access it through the escalator. A few steps in and a waitress already approached me - a good sign. I was led to my seat by another waitress and she  was just at her best the entire afternoon.First off, I had the Irish Coffee (200 PHP). I never had one in my life before and... the drink was unpleasant. Maybe it was the sharp bitterness of the coffee or the flavored rim which was unnecessary. The drink is only served warm/hot by the way.Next, I had the sausage roll. Like pigs in the blanket but with a light, airy bread. Two for 95 (buy-one-take-one promo, which also applies to other breads). And let's get to the main course - definitely the best fish-and-chips (350 PHP) I've had in the Philippines thus far. You might think it's expensive but the serving size makes up for it. I was served with four pieces of battered dory (marketed as "river cobbler"), which were almost the size of my hand, a generous heaping of fried potatoes and Japanese-style coleslaw. Not gonna call them "chips" as they lacked that thin, glassy exterior. The dish is delicious in its own right even if it isn't comparable to the authentic British comfort food. The simplest food can make your day if the quality is there.Since I was still hungry, I ordered the Kimchi Rice (100 PHP). I've heard this was UCC's bestseller among its artisan branches, and I can tell clearly why. It had that natural kimchi flavor (different from store-bought) and a garlic-onion finish. A perfect balance was achieved, and that's rare. Indeed, this was the standout dish. What I did to savor my meal was forking down the fish, coleslaw, kimchi rice and some dijon mustard. Every bite was an orchestration of spicy and crispy goodness. This experience opened my eyes in properly enjoying food, and I encourage you to do this at any good occasion.Beyond the food, I would like to praise the service. They won't hesitate to fulfill your request. In my case, they got me some dijon mustard, which wasn't included in the condiments.Overall, this is a great place to have coffee or a meal with friends on weekends.P.S. I owe them +1 rating for letting me make a mess outside while I was sketching!
