Been here lots of times and while everything is good, I come here for a sushi rolls fix. Big, adventurous rolls with lots of flavor and texture.

Ordered vegetable Rameen since they don't have any chicken option. And ordered green chicken dry as side. The Rameen didn't taste authentic as had in other Japanese restaurant, though asked for spicy the soup was plain. Green chicken fry was great. Customer service was good mostly. My take it go here knowing it's just a Japanese fast food joint and don't expect the authentic Japanese food. The price was for the location and that's ok.

It took them 30 minutes to serve tuna sashimi on rice.

This is the worst restaurant not only in Rockwell but all of Philippines. Do not go here. You will be wasting your money. Their tempura here is around 550P and it has about 6 pieces. The sushi rolls are so small, the pictures in the menu are fraudulent. This is seriously the worst restaurant in all of Philippines. Do not ever come here. I will never ever come back here.

Thisbhas to be the worst japanese restaurant i have ever been to. It is not authentic japanese, it is comparable to tokyo tokyo in flavor but they charge a premium. The worst part about this place is they dont serve fresh food. When u order sushi or tempura freshness of the fish used is what makes or break the dish, in sumo sam the fish is far from fresh, it looks, smells and tastes like fish meat about to decompose. Very unappetising. In short avoid this place like the plague. Not worth your money.

Sushi was very fresh tasting. Their Tamago was perfectly seasoned. Their Chicken Teriyaki rice though caught me off guard. It was waaaaaay more than we expected it. I guess I didnt expect it to be a “for sharing” type of food when I picked it from the menu, could feed 2-3 people easy. Place is smaller than it’s previous location (same area inside the mall but different location) but not overly crowded.

My Tita N and used to enjoy eating at Sumo Sam until that unfortunate incident a few years back.. You see, we were served bad beef at their Greenbelt branch. And they never admitted to it. As a result, we swore never be back til recently (I went to the Magnolia branch a few months back and no ugly affair happened).  We planned to have lunch in a place with the least diners before watching a movie. And that time, it was Sumo Sam and Akira that "won." Tita N wanted her salad and Gyoza and I, the Japanese Carbonara with Tempura. As usual, I ended up finishing everything. The Gyoza was Gyoza but the Carbonara was more-than-good Carbonara. The rich, thick type. The kind you don't get to finish alone especially if you had a heavy meal a few hours ago. I have to admit that the combination of carbonara and tempura intrigued me and it should say, worked surprisingly.  Service was impressive. Female servers were accommodating and quick to make suggestions. Congratulations, Sumo Sam. You're back in fighting form.

Actual rating: 3.7I had the ebi tendon dish. To be fair, dish was served hot. The prawns were relatively large, although the batter was not as crispy as I expected them to be, even though they are kinda dipped in the sweet and tangy sauce. The rice was perfectly cooked. It is indeed authentic Japanese rice. I cannot question that.Service was a bit erratic though, but I think it was a mere error in the counter that took my bill so long to get processed.I’d give their other dishes a try next time.

Went here for my salad fix.Had the Hot Prawn Salad with tiger prawns, lettuce, fruit cocktail and Japanese mayo. It becomes somewhat sweet because of the fruit cocktail. The prawns are crispy and fresh
