Sugarhouse is considered an institution when it comes to desserts.  They have been around for as long as i can remember.  And their branch in PowerPlant is one of the first establishments who set up shop a few years back. The last time I've visited Sugarhouse was eons ago.   The lovely people of website has mastered the art of timing.  Yeah,  i got another invite for a food meet-up!  Yey! Did you know that Sugarhouse also offers savory dishes?  Bet you didn't know that huh?  Anyway,  our generous hosts served some of their best-selling savory dishes.Appetizers| Taco Salad| Sugarhouse Chopped Salad| Mushroom CiabattaI only tried the Ciabatta.  This falls in the just okay category.  The bread is soft and i taste the mushroom but this is something that i would skip on my next visit.  Personal preference.Mains| Fettuccine Carbonara (Php 210).  A classic white sauce pasta with bacon bits and a slice of garlic bread on the side.  I'd probably rate this 3/5, the pasta is cooked al dente,  the sauce is flavourful but there is nothing remarkable about the dish.  This is something i can cook at home.| Baked Macaroni (Php 230).  I honestly thought this was lasagna. This is a case of too much cheese and less pasta.  The abundance of cheese made the cloying factor really high.| Chicken Cordon Bleu.  Big servings!  That's my initial reaction.  This however falls under the Just Okay category.  The breading is too thick.  The chicken though is cooked perfectly and really flavorful.| Beef Ribs in Beer.  Wow!  Succulent ribs,  oozing with flavor.  The ribs is fall-off-the-bone tender and really flavorful,  i loved every single bite.| Baked Pork Spareribs.  Another crowd favorite. One thing is fot sure,  Sugarhouse make a mean ribs dish. | Pastel De Lengua.   This is number one on my list.  I dunno how a decent pastel should taste like but my first spoonful is a party in my mouth, an explosion of flavors.  Who knew that ox tongue can taste this good! Sweets| French Apple Pie| Sansrival| Silvanas| Yema BallsI aint got beef with their sweets.  Everything they served is delicious.  I don't feel the need to describe each pastry as Sugarhouse is a household name when it comes to decadent desserts.I am happy to report that Sugarhouse is nlt a one trick pony,  they can definitely deliver in the savory department.  Some of the dishes need a lil upgrade but some are extremely good.  Please visit Sugarhouse soon and lemme know what you think. Peace Out!~Reich

After watching "Johnny English Strikes Again," I felt a craving for pie...apple pie. Good thing, Sugarhouse was just 3 floors down. I distinctly remember going out on dates, with my then boyfriend and now hubby for 30 years and counting, to Sugarhouse, Goodies N' Sweets or other dessert place because we are just sweet that way.I ordered my usual apple pie with cream and Italian-roast coffee. On my first bite, the apple pie crumbled dry and a bit tough to slice and chew. A million thoughts raced thru my head as I tried to recall exactly how my last experience with Sugarhouse apple pie was because my recollection was a lot better, moist and juicy pie or are my teeth and gums weakening? All I know is I've had several better tasting apple pies of late, both here and abroad. Locally, the best commercially available apple pie with cream is the one by A la Diane along Sto. Domingo Av in QC beside Siena College. Plus their buttercream is to die for. The pie itself is the right balance of sweet and tart, must be a combo of granny and delicious apples and the texture itself is fantastic. So, what happened to Sugarhouse??? This used to be my favorite before. Did they alter the recipe? Do they still use the same ingredients especially for the cream? I really don't know but what I know is this is not the pie that enamored me. Things DO change.

Looked for lengua de gato to bring home and most of their containers had broken cookies. This was the best I could find and still had broken cookies inside.

For my sisters birthday, we grabbed sugar house classic honey cake. Light vanilla chifon, butter and honey candied bits. Delicious cake from Sugarhouse!

Stopped by this place for a coffee. But their brewed coffee is not strong enough. After having a cup, I still feel sleepy. But their cake was yummy.

Nothing quite superb but it is not that bad. I would not just come back or go to that place and get something. It is a perfect one-time try. Tho I taster the sugarhouse branch here in legazpi village too, the quality and taste is perfectly maintained but still not one of my faves.

Over the years we've frequently dined at this branch of Sugarhouse as this is one of my mom's favorite restos inside the mall. It hasn't really changed that much, I think even the menu more or less remained the same with slight changes here and there. I've tried their meals, like their pasta, burger sliders, and rice meals lik beef salpicado and tapa. Most of their meals are quite simple and filling, but they aren't really anything special. Anyway, today we went here to have cake. My mom ordered a slice of their sans rival and I got a slice of their sugar-free new york cheesecake. Though it was sugar-free, it was still quite sweet, at least in my opinion lol. Service is okay, although the waiting time was longer than necessary for me, as the cake is already there - all they had to do was transfer it onto a plate and yet we waited around 10 minutes or so.

Sugarhouse reminds me of good old times when all I wanted was have my cake AND eat it too.Sugarhouse had those specialty cakes when all other places were just common and regular. But why not head over to Sugarhouse for its delicious line-up of dishes!Health conscious diners could go for the Sugarhouse Chopped Salad, romaine lettuce topped with honey ham, eggs, mango, tomatoes and almond slices. Mix these all up and you get different flavors and textures that would surely forget that this salad is also good for you.Pick from any of their awesome meals! My favorites are the Beef Ribs in Beer, Baked Pork Spareribs and Pastel de Lengua. The beef ribs are so tender with some maltiness from the beer. The pork spareribs is baked in tomato based sauce. And the pastel de lengua is awesome with its creamy mushroom sauce. For drinks, get the watermelon shake. Refreshing and has the right amount of sweetness. Then of course stay for dessert! The Yema Balls and the Sylvanas are still the best! But do get some cakes. I love the Chocolate Truffle Cake, moist and fudgy. The Concorde and Marjolaine are all-time favorites too.

I am amazed at the staying power of Sugarhouse. This restaurant has been around for a decade or more. I seem to recall it started out as purely a cake and pastry shop then eventually evolve to what it is now -- a restaurant serving pasta, sandwiches, salad and well-loved classic dishes in addition to their popular cakes and pastries.Yesterday I was lucky enough to have been invited for late lunch at their Rockwell branch. We were served the followingChicken and Corn Chowder Soup P110 - The soup was thick, hot and delicious. With morsels of corn, chicken and vegetables, it hit the spot. Do not forget to dunk your garlic bread in it.... scrumptious!Sugar House Chopped Salad side P160 , main P295 - It had crisp greens, mango cubes, almond slices, chopped boiled eggs, honey ham , roasted chicken. The presentation was pretty straight forward. Rows of mentioned ingredients were put on top of the crunchy greens. Sugarh ouse Club P275 - This is perfect for merienda or light lunch. You have crispy bacon, scrambled eggs, chicken, cheese, lettuce, tomato inside a medium sized roll with french fries on the side. Nothing to jump up and down about . It was ok.Mushroom Ciabatta P220 - This was a pretty straightforward dish. You have mushroom sauce and mozzarella cheese on top of ciabatta. Sort of like bruscheta . This can be shared by 2 to 3 people as appetizer or as merienda.Baked Macaroni P250 - Portion was ok for its price. It was a good baked macaroni. Nothing to rave nor complain about either.Fettucine Carbonara P220 - Pasta was al dente. Sauce was a bit under seasoned though. It could use more parmigianno regianno.Pastel de Lengua P295 - This was sulit. I will order this again. Lengua was melt-in-your-mouth. Sauce was flavorful. Portion was more than fair.Baked Pork Ribs P320 - The pork ribs could use a little more cooking time to tenderize the pork. Flavor was ok. Portion was not proportionate to its priceChicken Cordon Bleu P295 - I loved this. The slices of cordon bleu had a little crunch on the outside while maintaining its moistness inside.Beef Salpicado P495 - I am not a fan , Im afraid. The beef were too chewy and tough. The portion was not commensurate to its priceSummary :Over all a pleasant afternoon spent at an old hangout. Sugarhouse continues to evoke feelings of familiarity and warmth that draws one in. Its like eating at a friend's or relative's house where you feel relaxed and in your element. Prices are not bad either generally speaking. The place was packed when we left before 5pm. Sugarhouse still stands strong despite stiff competition from other newer restaurants.
