My friend and I ordered some warm drinks and a slice of red velvet cake before calling it a night. We actually enjoyed hanging out at the bistro because it had a chill vibe. It was also pleasing to look at given how artsy the interiors were. The next day, however, was a different story. SOMA posted some really off guidelines about the appropriate attire that their guests should wear before entering the restaurant. I didn't get the expected welcome upon entering the bistro, and was almost denied entry because I was wearing "slippers". I had to explain to the waitress that I was wearing sandals. So upon checking my footwear, and seeing that mine had backstraps, the lady eventually let me in. I didn't want the incident to ruin my morning, so I immediately made my way to the buffet spread, to at least enjoy the complimentary breakfast. While I was eating my chosen dishes, I asked one of the waitresses regarding SOMA's rules. She said that previous guests have already complained about it. And those who were denied entry because of their attire were still given the option to have their food taken to the room. This arrangement was still a big inconvenience, especially if the guests have already made an effort to go to the restaurant. The hotel wasn't even a four or five star hotel to begin with. I mean, I've stayed in a few ones, yet I wasn't denied entry based on what I wore to breakfast. I should be allowed to eat in whichever attire I choose to because I am, in fact a paid hotel guest. Of course, I didn't get mad with the wait staff, as they weren't the ones responsible for the rules. Now, the breakfast food at SOMA was nothing to rave about. It had some of the usual staples like egg, garlic rice and hotdogs. But was weirdly mixed into the buffet spread was the addition of red sauce spaghetti and caldereta (or was it Mechado?!). But aside from these offerings, I tried SOMA's cookies and banana bread, and was left unimpressed (5 out of 10). I've tasted better pastries that are more moist and tastier, thus the low rating.

I definitely love the ambiance of the place. I especially loved the WINGS WEDNESDAY!! Definitely recommend the Sriracha Wings. It only costs 15 pesos a piece. There might be a minimum order of 6 pieces, but it is definitely worth it. Imagine 90 pesos for 6 pieces of wings!

The restaurant space is huge with high ceiling and a beautiful wavy gold fixture. They also have live performances ever night. We got to try their bestsellers. BellyChon Kawali (Php 310) crispy pork belly great to pair with rice and of course beer. But i found the serving size wasn’t as sulit. Merry Deep-fried Chicken Skin (Php 130) despite the whitish color it was actually good. It was crispy and their vinegar mix was tasty too. Veggie Kare-Kare (Php 210) i wish the sauce had more peanut sauce in it but it was still good. they also made their own bagoong and it’s a must try. They also have a variant with bellychon kawali. Leche Flan (Php 85) I really liked this! The consistency was rich and creamy plus the macapuno topping was a nice touch. Their shakes was served in tall glasses. It was thick and sweet topped with cookies or wafer. I’m not really a fan of shakes but majority of the people I’m with liked the ube. Purple Ube Delight (Php 150) Strawberry Overload (Php 150)There are available parking space around the building.

My favorite is their liempo crisps, especially when paired with their beer bucket promo. Affordable beer promos, though. There's something odd about the nachos. Tried their chicken wings, kare kareng gulay, and adobo(?) All nice, though sometimes the waiters took too long to bring your orders..Nice ambiance, and they have great live music every night!

SOMA BISTROOne of the huge and cozy finds in Magallanes Makati City is located inside the Green Sun Hotel. Soma Bistro is situated at 2285 Chino Roces Avenue Extension, Magallanes, Makati City. The place have purple lights and have acoustic bands to gives you calmness and makes you feel better during your stressful week. Definitely they have great meals that you can indulge while having fun with your friends. BellyChon Kawali (Php 310)- crispy and absolutely perfect with rice. And also best to pair with drinks especially beer. Veggie Kare-Kare (Php 210)- must-try! Though the ingredients are just veggies, still it’s delish especially when you put their own-made bagoong. Can’t resist with their own bagoong! Super yummy! But you also have the choice if you want this to have pork or beefz Deep-fried Chicken Skin (Php 130)- the color is abit pale, ‘cause most of the chicken skin I have tried was toasted. But it is still good to try and also very crispy. Leche Flan (Php 85)- it’s not-that-sweet ( hindi sya nakakaumay). I love this, especially the macapuno toppings. I have tried to taste their 2 Shakes: Purple Ube Delight (Php 150) and Strawberry Overload (Php 150). Purple ube is my top favorite among the two. It’s sweet and has a great presentation. I do love as well the strawberry one, but still I wil go back for their Purple ube. If you cannot find a place during weekdays, you should definitely try this one! They also have friendly and efficient staff.

SOMA Bistro is an eye candy of a place for a good dinner.I had a standard burger -- juicy, tasty, and hits the spot. Fries included. Live music on a random Thursday too, with a cool acoustic set creating an ambiance that's perfect for drinking. And maybe that's what I'll do the next time I'm around.

The place was not crowded and food is okay. I hope you improve on serving rice warm. Food order takes a while too so I suggest to pre-order ahead.

Soma Bistro gives a modern twist to the classic and traditional Filipino cuisine. All their dishes are inventive and bursting with flavor, which made the cozy yet vast bistro even more enjoyable to bask in. Their barchows are surprisingly filling and made with quality ingredients considering their affordable prices. Some notable starters are the Pulled Pork Adobo Nachos and the Croquetas. Their Sizzling Bellychon Kawali Sisig isn’t your ordinary sisig. This dish is a union of lechon kawali and pork sisig, lathered together with a creamy egg. Sizzling and crispy in all its glory, this dish is succulent to the core!As for their dessert selection, Soma Bistro was able to come up with unique combinations. The Caramel Turon with Ice Cream is an interesting play on our favorite fried street food. Each bite is a fusion of warm, crunchy, caramel-glazed bananas and sweet, melting vanilla ice cream lathered on top. The Leche Flan is also a delightful surprise with macapuno shavings sprinkled onto it.

Pretty cool place! It's a nice place to have meetings and also generally just chill.I've encountered them during plays and band performances and it's a very youth-oriented place, hence it's super exciting! Soma's really something to look into.
