Ambience - 5 Space - 5 Cleanliness - 4 Service - 2 Food Quality - 3 Money's worth - 3 Went in on a Sunday after reading high reviews on website. Tried their Katsu Tenderloin and Basic Tenderloin Katsu set. Their katsu is definitely tender but not as tasty as I thought it would. Their curry also had too much onion and garlic that it overpowers the curry taste. We had to call the attention of the waiters several times before they attended to is despite only serving a few tables on the time we dined.

I organizde a meetup with high school friends here a few months back. I wanted to impress them with my restaurant choice and since I have never been disappointed by any katsu place before, I've decided it's more than safe to choose Saboten.I tried their Miso Katsu Loin Set. My friends tried other sets but I won't discuss it here since I have not had the chance to try theirs.I usually go for the regular loin or tenderloin sets in other katsu restaurants so I did not know what to expect with this one. But alas, it was so much better than the regular ones! The miso sauce put a unique spin to the traditional katsu. The only downside here, I think, is that it would not be a good idea to take this home since I doubt it would taste good after being drenched in miso sauce for a long time. For the place, I love that they have brighter lighting than other katsu places I have been to. It helped in creating a cheerful vibe within our group. For the service, it was a typical one. There were times when it was difficult to call the attention of the staff for refills.

YummmmerssPLACE:Nice.FOOD:Clay Pot Loin Set : This is sooo good. I super love this dish. Meat is tender and melts in your mouth. Egg is fluffy and tasty. They also have a certain sauce that goes well with everything. Their soup is undeniably good as well. Haven't taste the cabbage since I don't like cabbage but as per my friend, it was good. SERVICE:Super friendly and accommodating staff.PRICE:Quite pricey but I think it's somehow reasonable. VERDICT:Did I enjoy it? - YesWill I recommend it? - YesWill I come back? - Yes

Saboten is one of the main players in the high-end katsu arena in the Metro. Saboten has long been serving tonkatsu since 1966 in Japan, but has only found its way to the Philippines in 2013. Its branch in Glorietta is oriental, contemporary and classy. Its menu also offers you different ways to enjoy your katsu. Some of the meals we ordered are the Tenderloin Set (classic pork cutlet fried to perfection), Grated Radish Loin Set (gives you a refreshing twist from the usual katsu) and the Saboten Special Set (which will give you a taste of their tenderloin, loin cutlets, shrimp tempura and crab croquette).Sets come with unlimited rice, cabbage, miso soup, pickled radish and pickled cucumber. They don't come with unlimited fresh fruits though.

Fun fact: Saboten in Japanese means Cactus. 🌵 This Katsu place originated in Shinjuku, Japan. Yes it's literally near the train station if you've been there. 👌🏻 Well tbh, Saboten is my #1 favorite Katsu place here in Manila! ❤ You better try their Miso Katsu, Clay Pot Katsu, Radish Katsu, Chicken Karaage, and of course their Original Tonkatsu. (Make sure to order Loin if you want to taste that good fat in your dish!! 😋) For their drinks try their strawberry yakult it's worth drinking for! It's unlimited everything (eg: Soup, Cabbage, Pickles, Radish and their served Tea whether you like it cold or hot) Every bite is mouthwatering and flavorful! No regrets!! ❤

Interiors is vibrant, clean and modern. Ambiance is very calm and not too noisy, which I like in a resto. Food a bit expensive, but you get the value you paid for. Their katsu are cooked to perfection: golden brown, not too greasy, with the meat still tender. I would also like to commend how well they cooked their prawns as its still succulent; may I add the size... very big prawns! I also love their pickled veggies, most especially the daikon. Staff is very attentive and polite. I like how they are very organized and calm. On rush hours, they do not seem to be overwhelmed with the craze of people asking for refills, getting their bill, etc. One of our favorite katsu places.

We went here on a Sunday evening, the place is kind of packed that time so it took a while for us to place our orders. I ordered the mix set and I like everything included in the set the side dishes complements well with what I have ordered.

A katsu will never disappoint one's appetite. It's indeed a comfort food. Just like a katsu, Saboten will not disappoint you. It will give the comfort you need, place and food combined. Staff are very friendly and service was fast.

One of the original Katsu places in the metro. Very authentic and with good quality meat.I had the Miso Katsu Set which came with good quality Katsu in a tasty hot miso sauce. We also tried the Claypot Chicken set with breaded chicken cutlet in a sweetish sauce. Good service!
