Good, classic Filipino food that is most enjoyed sharing with family and friends. Nice decor and tastefully decorated, you can even read on the rich history of the patriarchs of the Romulo family along their hallways.

Still the not best in terms of food taste, quality, presentation, quantity and their customer service. Been here last 2014 and came back just last week yet still disappointed. The only good thing they have is their interiors. Nothing else.

The food is really good and the value for your money is great. This place is ideal for families or large groups as well. The interior is decorated with the late President’s memorabilias and picture and it makes the place very classy.

We dined here in Romulo Cafe for my brother and sister's birthday celebration, and it was definitely a fine choice. The ambiance had an air of sophistication yet captures that homey feel that did not make it too intimidating. There is also a wide range of dishes to choose from, so expect to see your favorites here in Romulo. Prices are generally reasonable, but there are a handful that are very pricey. Still, you can still dine here at an average of P500 per person. By the way, it's difficult to dine here alone since dishes come in a family-size serving -- which is of course, typical for us Filipinos. Why not a 5 Star? The service was fine and friendly-- fitting for the ambiance, but the server was often not available within our area (the "section where we were situated, since Romulo Cafe is sub-divided into different sections), so it took a while for him to tender to our requests (e.g. water refills). Other than that, everything went amazing! Food RecommendationsMy top picks are Laing (P198), Mixed Bicol Express (P325) and Kare-Kare (P510). These dishes are undoubtedly comfort-inducing, and has a certain wow-factor

I wish I took photos of the food we were served at Romulo. One should not be surprised why this restaurant is considered an institution—more than the rich history laced within the restaurant, Romulo has perfected every Filipino dish. We ordered their sinigang, baby squid, and adobo. All in all, I had a wonderful time and I hope to come back to this quaint Filipino cafe.

Ok I just have to get this off my mind. I loved the food. Food was superb. My family loved it. But the servers assigned to our table were a different thing. One main guy, and one lady. We were only 7 so not really a tough gig. Guy was snooty, but lady was friendly. Anyways I will not enumerate all the things that made me sigh the whole time, as it was my mom’s 70th and i just would like them all to have a good time and enjoy the food. Then comes dessert time. We ordered 5 desserts, 3 of which were cakes. I had this idea not to bring our own cake anymore as it wouldn’t pass as a surprise to my mom. I brought just candles instead. After we ordered the desserts I got up and spoke to the guy server and gave him instructions with the candles. He seemed up to it so I was thankful. Now this is what really annoyed me the most, but hey I still kept my cool. 1. They ‘prepared’ the cake and candles next to our table. Good thing mom was looking the other way. 2. Lady approached our table with one cake with 2 unlit candles (grrrrr..). Guy called her (wheew) to lit the candles. 3. Guy lits the next 2 candles on the 2nd cake then delivered to our table. 5. Guy repeats with cake number 3 with 3 candles. 6. All 3 cakes and none of which said happy birthday on the piping on the plate, just romulo’s cafe. huge sigh.. oh wellsss...

I’ve been eyeing to visit this place for the longest time. And finally, one rainy night, to feed our hungry tummies, we dropped by Romulo Cafe along Jupiter St. in Makati. From the outside, Romulo Cafe invites diners to a cozy looking restaurant. Once inside, you will have a time travel adventure as the interior is decorated with blacks and whites, and framed photos documenting the life of Carlos P. Romulo. For their food, the menu boasts of Heirloom recipes of Lola Virginia, wife of Carlos. They also have several Chef’s Recommendation and Vegetarian dishes. We ordered:Pinoy Nachos - crispy taro and kamote chips with melting kesong puti, keso de bola and tomatoes. Well, our order came with crumbled kesong puti and melting cheese (similar to Cheez Whiz, actually) with chopped tomatoes and onions. It was actually good. You just have to eat it right away as the chips gets soggy as it absorbs the melted cheese. But I love the fact that this is a vegetarian dish. Tinapa Roll - think lumpiang shanghai with tinapa, red eggs and tomatoes as filling. This one is served on a bed of beautifully trimmed romaine lettuce and uber spicy vinegar dip. Lengua - ox tongue stewed in red wine sauce with olives and onions. The ox tongue is so tender, you can practically slice it with just your fork. Sunshine lemonade - lemonade with strawberry syrup. This one is a tad sweet for my taste. Overall, food is great. Ambience is perfect for family dinners and romantic dates.
