I have passed Pia Y Damaso quite a few times before but it was only recently that I had the chance to dine there with website friends. The Place:It's intimate and cozy. The ambience reminds me of beautiful and memorable ancestral homes. I have always loved the charms of old world settings because it's like going back to an era I have never lived in. A chance to see a glimpse of the past.More on Pia Y Damaso in a bit. 😊

I've eaten there a few times, and although I didn't have the best experience I went back because I like the concept of the restaurant, and their hot chocolates and desserts are something I'd try again. The food--take this--are reheated portions. They don't have a kitchen and they only have the counter in the middle where they heat the food you order, so it's not cooked fresh. I noticed this because once or twice my food was not heated all the way through (still cold in the middle). That is why I am giving a low review. But, their food is creative. The restaurant is cramped (there's very little space to walk in between tables, but the ambiance is good. There are a few things like hot chocolate that I would come back for, but not the meals because for the price I expect my food to be coming from a real kitchen and not microwaved out of the freezer.

Pia Y Damaso is one of those restaurants that we usually pass by, but never dared to try because of the seemingly intimidating prices. However, for my dad's birthday, we decided to go for it. After all, there would be a reason to spend a little more than usual. That was when we realized that although it may be considered expensive here, the dishes range from good to great with some dishes being exceptionally awesome. Dishes to look out for include the Lengua Sevilla (P450) and Lamb Calderetta (P600). Service, on the other hand, was just near satisfactory.

Restaurante Pia Y Damaso is one of the first few restaurants that opened when Greenbelt 5 was relatively new. When I pass by the place, the view from where I stand directs me to seeing people with cakes and pastries on their tables. Due to that, my thinking of Pia Y Damaso is just a dessert place. I was mislead that Restaurante Pia Y Damaso offers desserts alone. My visit to the restaurant proved that you will go for the main dishes, not only for their desserts. The Food:Crispy Adobo Chicken Skin & Tails (Php 160) -  One deadly and sinful appetizer that welcomed me. The crisp and adobo flavor blended to come up with a wicked appetizer. I don’t dig oily food but this one can be part of my exception list.Tubig ni Maria (Php 300) - A creative mix that will make you forget getting the usual glass of water. Served in a cold pitcher of cucumber juice, ginger and citrus water. I had more than 5 glasses of this genius water mix. Filo Tarts with Pork Asado, Apple Relish (Php 220) - If Chinese restaurants have their asado siopao, Pia Y Damaso puts out their Filo Tarts with Pork Asado and Apple Relish. Similar to getting a bun of siopao only this one is enclosed in crispy filo tarts and topped with apple relish to make every bite appealing.Elias (Php 450) -  Elias is a well-known character in the book of Noli Me Tangere, the one who helped Crisostomo Ibarra, main character of Noli Me Tangere. The unique character of Elias illustrated on the dish named after him. Salad is a combination of greens, tomatoes, caramelized pineapple, crisp shallots and seared marinated crocodile that’s from Davao. It is also mixed with mango cilantro vinaigrette. For more details and photos, visit my food blog! Pray, Eat and Love.Cheers,The Food Scout
