Our consistent go-to during Inasal cravings with tight budget. Pat Pat’s Kansi is the real deal in inasal, making you feel right at home. Their inasal is juicy and meaty, marinated to perfection. The inihaw na pusit is tender and never overcooked. The huge boneless bangus can feed 2-3 pax. The tender bulalo makes you forget of your hypertension. And my most favorite, unlimited soup. I can gulp like 2 big bowls. Hehe. Gotta return again!!!

The original branch is in Iloilo and it is very popular there at home so I was excited to try this one in Manila. 😍We went here on a rainy day and it was flooding a bit everywhere. LOL. All for this kansi. 😁 It was definitely worth the trip. The soup was amazing and very flavorful. I do have to say though that the kansi soup is just a little sweeter than what was in Iloilo. The free soup that they serve though was closer to the one in Iloilo. But overall, it's still very good. You can order the one with just the meat or the one with the bone marrow. Me and my boyfriend ordered both. Lol. The marrow is really big and you can get the fat inside with this barbecue stick they give you. It was really good. My tummy and my heart was so happy. 😁 It's a very good deal at 170 pesos. Just be there a little early. We got there around 12 and despite the weather the place was really packed.

This simple Ilonggo restaurant around the corner of Sampaloc Avenue is famous for its Kansi (Bulalo version of Iloilo City). You would normally find Ilonggos in Manila here to savor this beef and bone marrow soup that has a bit of sour flavor to it as opposted to the regular bulalo soup. Their menu also has other offerings including grilled liempo, grilled squid, etc. Value for money but customer service needs improvement.

It's a rainy day today and I wanted soup for lunch. Then, my thinking bells went abuzz...Pat Pat's Kansi! I didn't have to drive, I could just take a leisurely walk in the rain.Pat Pat's started out in the late 90's in Jaro, Iloilo then set up a branch in Makati. It's on my list of all-time favorite "carsakan" or "carinderia sa kanto." It is along Sampaloc St. in San Antonio and right beside the Metrobank branch at the corner of Sampaloc and Kamagong Sts.It is famous for its kansi which is like a cross between sinigang and bulalo for us who live in Luzon. The difference with sinigang is the use of batwan fruit as souring agent which is endemic in Iloilo. This gives a sweeter, fruity taste other than sour as compared to sampaloc or kamias.I had kansi laman (P145), fresh lumpia (P50), leche flan for dessert (P45) and a cup of rice (P30). After the discount I paid an even P200.The kansi soup was just what I needed like it embraced me with a warm hug. The meat morsels were so tender after several hours of boiling together with the bone and marrow (bulalo). The flavor of the batwan has already seeped into the meat thus making each spoonful with rice and my patis, calamansi and chili combination sauce such a comforting and delicious treat. Alternating it with bites on the fresh lumpia (served cold because ubod and other fresh ingredients spoil easily) with a substantial amount of fresh garlic really turned the sunshine on an otherwise gloomy day.The leche flan was the perfect counter to the swirl of savories in my mouth. This is what a good day is like...a great meal at a reasonable price!

The bulalo and laman are spectacular! I just finished 2 cups of rice! Very reasonably priced, you dont have to go to Tagaytay for a good bulalo. This is just a few blocks away from home, will definitely go back.
