Today, I had one amazing lunch today at Nikko's Baking Studio. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much, because I really didn't know what to expect. But this lunch satisfied every craving I had.I ordered D.E.R - Dulong, Eggs and Rice. It was my first time to eat fried dulong since I normally eat off a bottle with olive oil and served as canapés. It was good, but nothing extraordinary. But what blew my mind were the Bro's Adobo Flakes and the Old Fashioned Chocolate cake! The adobo flakes reminded me of pork floss but chunkier. It's quite hard to describe, but I fell in love with it. I could eat this EVERYDAY.And the chocolate cake.. Oh wow! It was very sweet (which I like) and moist with that thick sliver of filling (don't know what it's called hehe). The icing was heavenly and that caramel drizzle made it even more special! Are you drooling yet?

We discovered Nikko's because we had lunch at 59c just beside it and we ordered the old fashioned choco cake. We asked the waiter where they got the cake and told us it's just right beside the resto. IMHO it's one of the best choco cakes i've tasted. We also order the khalua mocha cake which was also good. We plan to go back and try the rest of the menu.

Tiny place with a very interesting "side cafe" ambiance! Do order my personal favourites: Creamy Bacon Pesto (P280)  - generous serving of angel hair noodles in creamy pesto sauce and bacon bitsChorizo Empanada Kaliskis (P220 for 2 pcs) - best empanada you'll ever eat 😋 -- fine, crispy, and tasty, if a tad oilyKahlua Mocha Cake (P140) - it's not too sweet, and was ordered by the Pope himself during his visit to the Philippines Boracay Chori Burger (P180 for 2 pcs) - looks playfully simple, but this chorizo in toasted pan de sal will shock you with its complex flavor! It did not get 5 stars because I did not enjoy their Lucban Longganisa Pasta and Creamy Chorizo (which was not creamy at all).

There’s more to the name Nikko’s Baking Studio. And what did we mean by that? Nikko’s is not just a small baking studio. It also is a restaurant that serves comfort food from homemade recipes that have been passed on to generations and recipes that have been inspired by known favorites. In this edition of EATSplorations, we were able to EATSperience a feast. Keep reading to find out the amount of food that we have had!

This was a spur of the moment decision to go for lunch as the place is close to our office.Since we were both hungry, we decided to try their tapa and adobo flakes all-day breakfast meals. The tapa was crispy and flakey just as described. The adobo flakes were likewise nice and toasted as well although I felt it could have been seasoned better. A dash of vinegar seemed to help. The scrambled eggs we ordered with the meal was just OK. Not fluffy but not dry either. A far cry from my favorite scrambled eggs though (from Banapple). As a bakeshop, we had to try one of their pastries so we got a slice of chocolate cake. It was just so-so. Not bad but not memorable either.Over-all I think I'll still go back just to try their other meals (their pasta dishes look interesting and would like to try the key lime pie which was out-of-order). Due to the relatively high price for the meals (approx. Php250-280 per dish; cake slices Php125-200) and lack of AC (outdoor tables), might not be something you'd look for but also not something you'd feel disappointed trying either.

I've alwaýs wanted to check out Nikko's Baking Studio since it's just a few blocks away from work. But if it weren't for their Metrodeal promo I wouldn't have known that they not only offer baked goodies but they also have pastas, sandwiches & all day breakfast in their menu. The place has no AC but I dont mind dining al fresco plus the artsy wood & iron set up makes the experience almost like a pleasant escape from the concrete jungle that is Makati. My colleagues & I ordered the Truffled Chips, Chorizo Pasta, & Callos. I love anything w/ truffles but I just found the chips quite lacking with that deliciously earthy taste. The chips are nice & crunchy though & made w/ real potatoes which I appreciate. The Chorizo Pasta we found a bit oily & has some "umay" factor, great for sharing. The Callos i enjoyed, I've never tasted Callos before & this first time did not disappoint. We had the Kahlua Mocha Cake for dessert. Couldn't detect much the Kahlua but it was a pleasant conclusion to our lunch out experience. Would go back to try their grilled cheese, adobo flakes & other cakes.

Discovered a homey place near work. Being located along Paseo de Roxas, it's very accessible especially to those that want a quick breather from work. Its theme is very rustic and artisanal. What surprised me is that it's actually a culinary school. We saw real classes going on while we're taking our lunch! We personally met and had small talk with the chef behind this, Nikko. She's very warm and friendly. We even had a photo op with her to be uploaded on their Instagram and Facebook accounts!I personally recommend Tuna Pesto Omelette, Martie's Flaky Tapa, Bacon Pesto, and Carbonara. We also tried their Arrozala Cubana and Chorizo Pasta. Will definitely go back to try their cakes!

What I liked about the food is that, it’s not pretentious. It is what it is–simple, home cooked food with elevated flavors. The comforting, homey vibe of the place makes for a charming experience.Recommendation:My favorites would have to be the empanada kaliskis, chicken pastel, lasagna, and chocolate cake. The empanada pastry has that melts-in-your-mouth flavor. The chicken pastel reminded me of my mom’s cooking. The lasagna is heavenly and the chocolate cake,

Nikko's Baking Studio is one of the places I've wanted to visit for a while now, so my expectations were somewhat high. It's a bit of a walk away from the center of Makati, so there's a somewhat idyllic aspect to the location. The decor was very homey with plenty of paintings. We had the Tapa with rice, spam with cheese omelette, truffle fries, and calamansi pie. The Tapa was crispy, but not especially flavorful. The omelette was also pretty ordinary. The good thing though was the generous servings, at least for a Makati restaurant. The truffle fries were a ordinary. I didn't particularly taste the truffles, I only noticed the parmesan. For some reason, the fries (potato chips, btw) were a bit bitter, but I'm not sure why. The calamansi pie was good, definitely much more sour than sweet. It was also very fragrant when brought out. While delicious, it wasn't quite my type since it was too tangy for my personal taste. We arrived at around 9 and they had just opened due to some internal miscommunication. I'm not sure if this affected the quality of their service at that time, but I'm not planning to return quite just yet.

Had my caffeine fix earlier at this new place located in Urdaneta Village. It was through a friend that I heard of them. The place was cozy, airy, and very pleasant. Al fresco seating was available as well. When we went inside, the interior was more impressive. It had this countryside feel with a a huge glass window panel looking straight the busy Paseo de Roxas. The kitchen or baking studio was clean, well maintained, and well ventilated too. When our food arrived (we ordered Adobong Baby Pusit, T.R.E., Leche Flan cake, and Drip Coffeel) the owner and her mom cordially invited us to share the dining table (huge plus factor!) with them. We had a fun chat and they were so accommodating and kwela. The dishes were served fast, hot, and delicious. The pusit was tender and perfectly cooked. As to the Leche Flan cake, it was a piece of heaven. The flan on top was delicate, creamy, and rich in flavor. The sponge cake was moist and not too sweet. It blended perfectly. Will definitely be back to try more of their dishes and desserts.
