Today, I had one amazing lunch today at Nikko's Baking Studio. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much, because I really didn't know what to expect. But this lunch satisfied every craving I had.I ordered D.E.R - Dulong, Eggs and Rice. It was my first time to eat fried dulong since I normally eat off a bottle with olive oil and served as canapés. It was good, but nothing extraordinary. But what blew my mind were the Bro's Adobo Flakes and the Old Fashioned Chocolate cake! The adobo flakes reminded me of pork floss but chunkier. It's quite hard to describe, but I fell in love with it. I could eat this EVERYDAY.And the chocolate cake.. Oh wow! It was very sweet (which I like) and moist with that thick sliver of filling (don't know what it's called hehe). The icing was heavenly and that caramel drizzle made it even more special! Are you drooling yet?

We discovered Nikko's because we had lunch at 59c just beside it and we ordered the old fashioned choco cake. We asked the waiter where they got the cake and told us it's just right beside the resto. IMHO it's one of the best choco cakes i've tasted. We also order the khalua mocha cake which was also good. We plan to go back and try the rest of the menu.

Tiny place with a very interesting "side cafe" ambiance! Do order my personal favourites: Creamy Bacon Pesto (P280)  - generous serving of angel hair noodles in creamy pesto sauce and bacon bitsChorizo Empanada Kaliskis (P220 for 2 pcs) - best empanada you'll ever eat 😋 -- fine, crispy, and tasty, if a tad oilyKahlua Mocha Cake (P140) - it's not too sweet, and was ordered by the Pope himself during his visit to the Philippines Boracay Chori Burger (P180 for 2 pcs) - looks playfully simple, but this chorizo in toasted pan de sal will shock you with its complex flavor! It did not get 5 stars because I did not enjoy their Lucban Longganisa Pasta and Creamy Chorizo (which was not creamy at all).

There’s more to the name Nikko’s Baking Studio. And what did we mean by that? Nikko’s is not just a small baking studio. It also is a restaurant that serves comfort food from homemade recipes that have been passed on to generations and recipes that have been inspired by known favorites. In this edition of EATSplorations, we were able to EATSperience a feast. Keep reading to find out the amount of food that we have had!

This was a spur of the moment decision to go for lunch as the place is close to our office.Since we were both hungry, we decided to try their tapa and adobo flakes all-day breakfast meals. The tapa was crispy and flakey just as described. The adobo flakes were likewise nice and toasted as well although I felt it could have been seasoned better. A dash of vinegar seemed to help. The scrambled eggs we ordered with the meal was just OK. Not fluffy but not dry either. A far cry from my favorite scrambled eggs though (from Banapple). As a bakeshop, we had to try one of their pastries so we got a slice of chocolate cake. It was just so-so. Not bad but not memorable either.Over-all I think I'll still go back just to try their other meals (their pasta dishes look interesting and would like to try the key lime pie which was out-of-order). Due to the relatively high price for the meals (approx. Php250-280 per dish; cake slices Php125-200) and lack of AC (outdoor tables), might not be something you'd look for but also not something you'd feel disappointed trying either.
