Naimas is an Ilocano term for delicious. They serve cuisines from Northern Luzon and are quite different from the Filipino foods you see here in Manila. The ambiance is very homey, much like a farm house in the provinces: wooden tables, vegetables around the house, etc. At Naimas, they also make their own dressing. Much love can be tasted in their food. For this visit, we have tried several dishes, most of which are new to me, but they have classics as well:- Naimas Bagnet (Php240) - This Ilocano version of lechon kawali has a very crunchy texture and a flavorful taste. It is served with their homemade fish bagoong. A great appetizer or just something to munch on while waiting for your main dishes.- Dinuguang Bibe (Php240) - I love dinuguan, but I would never have thought of using duck meat with it. This dish is so good, you would not know that you are eating duck. There is no foul smell on this dish, just flavorful dinuguan and tender meat.- Gising Gising (Php220) - another favorite of mine. I love anything with coconut milk. Made with sigarilyas (winged bean), this semi-spicy dish is a good warm-up to what's in store for us. A little more crunch on the vegetables would be better though.- Pritong Pugo (Php240) - when we say pugo, most of us know it as the street food, pugo, or quail eggs. But this one is the actual quail. It is smaller than a pigeon and has tender meat.- Adobong Baboy Ramo (Php320) - the dish I love the most and it is my first time eating eat. I know that wild boars have tough meat, but they made this super tender, it tasted like beef.- Adobong Hipon sa Aligue (Php340) - giant prawns cooked with crab fat. Just so good!- Pinatisang Baka (Php340) - The meat is very tender and the fish sauce just flavors the dish pretty well.- Gisaeng Balot (Php220) - though I was only able to try a little portion of it because my friends started to gobble them up, the sauce was pretty tasty and I look forward to ordering this again.- Sizzling Litid (Php250) - I don't usually like litid (tendon) because of its sticky texture. This litid is separated well and are soft. Plus, the sizzling effect makes it very tasty.- Sinuglaw (Php270) - raw fish in coconut milk with tanigue slices. First time to have it. Raw taste and creamy texture. It's ok for me.- Crispy Tawilis (Php220) - a light snack, these dried and flattened fishes gives a good crunch. Dip it into the vinegar and top it with the green mango salsa and you're good to go.- Sinampalukang Kambing (Php300) - a different kind of sourness and not like sinigang. Something that would make you eat more. The kambing is also tender.- Turon na Saba (Php110) - classic turon with a thin wrap and a good crunch. This is the turon my dad likes and maybe one reason he will come back for. So delicate yet delicious. We also got to try Basi, a wine made from sugarcane. It has a sweet flavor. It is also being sold in the store for about Php280.Overall, I had a nice experience with Naimas. The interior makes a great family bonding experience. The dishes are unusual and it is something worth it for the adventurous website. Try it and you will come back for more.

Aldous of aldousatetheworld.com never really stops with his website endeavors. Now he invited me to Naimas, an Ilocano themed restaurant in the heart of Metro Manila's business district, Makati. Upon entering, I found the place to have a rustic, country-style ambience that gives diners a feel of Ilocano home cooking.

This is my favorite filipino restaurant. I come back here everytime im craving good filipino food. The servings are big and the price is right. Must try: pinatisang baka, bagnet

Always good here is their delicious bagnet (although occasionally fatty but always perfectly crispy), which is often paired with a veggie dish to make a single order and even comes with plain or garlic rice.My best dish here is the buttered chicken--delicately crispy, boneless chicken chunks (not fingers or nuggets) bathed in garlic butter mixed with Knorr seasoning. Definitely naimas (tasty in Ilocano)!Excellent ambiance despite noisy, lively acoustics. Very homey with heavy, wooden chairs and tables, native baskets, home decors and fun, quotable quotes (more of them in the bathroom, which is worth a visit).

So far my favorite filipino food place. Not fancy but nice. Good atmosphere. Excellent taste. I am no expert in filipino food but I was really seducted.
