I don't get how it would take 15 minutes for someone to assist us with our orders even when the place is barely packed. An additional 30 minutes for my appetizer to come out which is supposedly cold, by the way, but arrived room temp. Another 10 minutes more for my sister's food (Bulgogi Bibimbap) to arrive and my food (Xiao Long Bao & Stir fried Noodles) plus a couple more minutes.. Basically, my sister & I sat in Modern Shanghai x Bulgogi Brothers for about 45 minutes without food nor water. How the food tasted didn't even make up for the long waiting time.

Given a choice this cuisine is not my first choice but I was very happy to have dined at Modern Shanghai. We ordered quite a lot of dishes but my favorites were the Xiao Long Bao, Sauteed Sliced Beef with Scallions, Sweet & Sour Pork Ribs Deep Fried Squid and their Yang Chow Fried Rice. Not at all oily and each dish was cooked to my liking. The place itself is huge and they have their own washroom which is great. It's split into two restaurants though so it happened a couple of times that the menu from the other restaurant was given to us. Over all a hppy and very satisfying experience.

It used to be a great Restaurant. After they renovated half of the restaurant to a Korean grill restaurant, the whole restaurant has become hazy and filled with the grilled meat smell! Please go back to the original setup....

Beautiful interiors. Loved the overhead lanterns. Not a fan of the haze from the electronics grills or the grilled meat smell from the next table that has probably gotten into my clothes. If the restaurant insists on the grills, they should really improve their ventilation. That aside, had the crispy noodles, which was perfectly seasoned and crispy. A bit letdown by the squid, which erred a little on the tough side.

Ordinary food. Nothing special... service was slow... only good thing was the free siao long bao we got from my mom's bistro card. Birthday noodles was ok. I forgot what else we had cause it was not memorable at all.

My first time to try xiao long bao was here and it did not disappoint! The soup was piping hot though it came with a warning. The wrapping was firm so the whole thing doesn't collapse on you. I don't recall much of the other food we had except that they tasted fresh and well cooked because the xiao long bao was that memorable.

Was so craving for xiao long bao so i rushed to this resto with a friend. We were about to enter when a lady crew raced to the door, blocked our way and didn't even assist us. We stood beside a pail of dripping AC water from the ceiling. A guy finally approached and lead us to a table. The service was quick so that lady's behavior was forgiven. We ordered a 6-piece of xiao long bao and a platter of porkchop rice. The xiao long bao was disappointing. Maybe i just expected too much and i had comparison in mind. The rice porkchop was fantastic: meat was tender and rice was soft and flavorful. If i dine in this resto again, i might avoid xiao long bao and might order rice porkchop again or try the other rice platters.

We were looking for a place to eat when we chanced by this restaurant. I immediately craved for xiao long bao when we saw the restaurant so we decided to eat here. We didn't know what else to order. Prices were quite on the expensive side so we decided to try the xiao long bao first then decide whether we'd order the main dish. They first served the sauce for the xiao long bao, I was surprised as they gave soy sauce with ginger. When we were in Hong Kong, xiao long bao was only served with ginger. I asked for ginger but it smelled differently from what I know. Anyway, the xiao long bao was a disappointment. The broth was a miss. Needless to say, we left after the xiao long bao and did not order anything further. The restaurant's interior was great, it looked fancy but they played music that was a total contrast to their interior. Miley Cyrus was belting wrecking ball!!! It was as if you were at a fast food chain!

The food was delicious! The Xiao Long Bao was amazing. The Crispy Noodles with Seafood, Siomai, and Salt and Pepper Squid were equally impressive. The only subpar item I tasted was the Mango Cream with Pomelo. The mango tasted artificial and the pomelo was bitter.Good service and ambience. Will encourage other people to eat here.

Serving is getting smaller and smaller. Still love the xiao long bao and birthday noodles but the price is unreasonable. Hope is not gonna be one of those Bistro restos who downsize soon.
