Although Ming Kee's prices are not too wallet-friendly, the dishes surely will make you abundant when it comes to website experience. Some of the must-trys here are the (1) Ming Kee Crab Bee Hon; (2) Stir Fried Cereal Prawns; (3) Ming Kee Homemade Beancurd; and (4) Sambal Rice. The place also gives you a piece of solitude and healthy isolation. This makes the restaurant much more interesting.

Tucked away in Brgy Poblacion near A. Venue on Makati Ave is Ming Kee. Located in a skinny building across the Berjaya Hotel with barely any parking but with a wide of a variety of seafood for show and the kitchen where you can see the experienced chefs working. I believe the restaurant has either 4 or 5 floors and there's an elevator for customers but none for the staff (or a dumbwaiter for the food) so I saw them running up and down the stairs the whole night.I had called to make a reservation on a Thursday night thinking that the place would be packed. The reservation needed to be changed and the staff was kind enough to allow me to push back the time by 30 mins. We had the char siu, Hainanese chicken, homestyle tofu, kailan, crab beehoon, salt and pepper mantis prawn, and lychee cream jello. I disagree that the star of the show is crab beehon, you really can't go wrong with crab beehoon. The real star of this joint is the homestyle tofu. The Hainanese chicken (and I eat a lot of Hainanese chicken) wasn't bad either. It just took forever to come out. I also wanted to try the Guinness pork ribs but they were out of stock. Maybe next time. The lychee cream jello was teeny tiny so I think it was gone in one bite. The mantis prawn. Can we just talk about the mantis prawn? I think they were rushing to cook the poor thing cause we had been waiting for a good 30 mins. The prawn was still raw on the inside. Credit to them for adding a few more pieces when we got it back. The place wasn't full at all except for the 4th floor which according to the staff had a big party of 2 round tables. The service was excruciatingly slow. So we basically ate (more waiting than eating) for 2 hours. Everything came out One. At. A. Time. I thought my dad was over reacting by voicing out his displeasure in the speed of service but we weren't the only table complaining. The staff said it was possible that the big party got served first even though a lot of the tables arrived ahead of them. Definitely not the way to go, man. Just imagine if the place was packed. The wait staff is definitely A+. They were very understanding in our frustrations and noted that we weren't the only ones who complained. Props to them for being able to keep this place running. I feel bad for the manager, Ivan because all this falls on him. I really hope he gets to talk to his chefs about this cause not a lot of people are willing to dine for 2 whole hours if it ain't The French Laundry. Pro Tip: Have a driver or valet service! It's a pain to park especially during rush hour. It's also a bit of a challenge to get out because of the location but that can't be helped.

I could tell that only the freshest seafood and ingredients of the highest quality were used, and that the chef did something to give the dishes somewhat of an edge. Some note-worthy dishes:-Deep-fried Fish Skins: Think chicken skin except made of fish. Not oily at all. Great alternative as a pulutan!-Singapore Chili Crab: The spiciness went really well with the mandou and condensed milk. I liked to dip the bread in both. Yum!-Homemade Beancurd: Its consistency had a good balance between softness and structure, and the flavor reminded me of chawan mushi. -Stir-fried Cereal Prawns: The cereal was a mystery because it didn't taste like cereal but resembled something like barquillos, which was an interesting twist.-Fruit Fantasy: Kind of like fruit cocktail con yelo but the milk had a really interesting after taste.I also liked the urban feel of the place (not your typical red-decked seafood resto) but they need to tidy up the place a bit and ensure that the staff performance matches the level of service expected from such a place. The prices might be a bit high but the servings are good for 6-8 persons, and they're justified by the quality of food.

Upon checking my page,I forgot to make a review on this restaurant so here it is.I went here almost 3 months ago because it has been making a lot of noise on social media. The dining area is on the 2nd floor because the kitchen is located on the ground floor. The dining area is modern asian and the staff was very courteous and attentive. One is welcomed with this pickled chili pineapple which is so good we had a 2nd serving of this.So we ordered the popular dishes like the sambal clams which was a good interpretation and the clams were really fresh and sweet. The crab bee hon was also very flavorful and lots of texture going on.We also had the tofu with mushrooms, spareribs with guinness which I wasn't a big fan of but it was correct. The right amount of glaze and tender.I also Loved the drunken shrimps where they douse the shrimps in rose wine before putting it in their aromatic stock that contains a lot of spices and goji berries. I will definitelyGo back to try the other interesting dishes and perhaps order the sambal clams, crab bee hon or the drunken shrimps again...or maybe all of it plus more dishes.
