This place surely is off the beaten track, being located in the small side streets of Bangkal. I imagine that not many will dare venture this area esp at night as Bangkal is somewhat not known for its peace and order. Anyway, this used to be Fat Michael's, now transformed into a hole-in-the-wall French Bistro. The resto area seems like a converted apartment and the decors are quite "funky", so to speak. Lots of paintings around the walls and yes, the Chef is also the painter wherein his works are for sale. The resto is owned and managed by a French Chef, who transferred his operations from Puerto Galera, as I was told. The Chef wasn't in that night but his Pinoy wife ably took over the cooking chores. We were 3 so we opted to try all their 3 "French Dinner" set options with a varied combination of dishes to try.For starters, we tried the terrine, the salad and the tomato mozzarella toast. The salad was so-so, nothing really to write about. The toast was just OK, and had the same salad included with the dish. The terrine was described by them as "something between a meatloaf and a pate". The taste was alright, nothing special but I can say that the texture is nowhere near a pate. It really was much more of a meatloaf. The complimentary basket of bread (with oats) was very nice. Maybe they bake this themselves. For mains, we had the beef stroganoff, chicken breast with mustard sauce, and their tenderloin steak with bleu cheese sauce. We had all our orders come with their linguini pasta, lightly oiled. The beef stroganoff had quite a rich taste to it and the meat was a tad tough. The chicken was better but I would prefer less sauce next time to lessen its richness. Maybe asking the sauce to be served "on the side" would be better (that goes too for the beef stroganoff). My friend's tenderloin steak was quite tender, despite having it grilled medium-well. The provided bleu cheese sauce was actually a nicer match with the plain linguini pasta. My friend had no complaints with his food. For dessert, we had their home-made yogurt and chocolate mousse. The yogurt was just OK while the mouse was quite good and highly-recommended. However, the mousse's texture was really more of a souffle rather than a mousse (chocolate was in liquid form inside). But I was ok with this.Service was excellent, as we were the only diners that night. Servings were generous and can be shared. Prices are reasonable with regards to food quality and volume.

Authentic French cuisine prepared by a real French chef. The place is warm on the inside & inviting on the outside. With candles on the table, art decor on the walls, french music playing on the background, one cannot help but get lost in it's magical spell. Garlic Prawn in Fettuccine Pasta is a must try! Affordable, good food + great people (the chef & the Mrs. comes out to meet & greet his customers personally) = an experience never to be forgotten. Thank you chef Michael & ma'am Jenny. I was one very happy customer.

Accidentally saw this place while having our car repaired. Great great great food!!! Best ceasar salad, adequately sauced. Not too much, not too little. Pasta was aldenté & creamy. Plus the service was warm. Ambience is another plus. So this happened... I'm bringing the rest of my family here.
