Craving for some Chinese comfort food? Well, Kwong’s Provision is a good choice for you! You’ll definitely satisfy your cravings from Kwong’s menu. Even if they have few items in the menu, most of them are unique and well innovated food. One of which is their Salted Egg Chicken Wings that comes with delicious sauce that tasted like sweet jam. Price at 240, their serving for the Salted Egg Chicken is already good for sharing. But if you’re hungry, might as well order a solo plate all for you! Maki Mi+ is a good choice for soup and its serving is not just good for 2! 3 persons can share it. I love the thickness of the soup which verifies it as Maki Mi+! Plus the noodle used is not just the normal noodle. It’s thick and tasty. Being located in Hole in the Wall, you can enjoy Kwong’s together with other food offered but Kwong’s alone is a nice choice, too! ☺

Their lazy chili crab with fried mantao is sinfully delicious. The fried mantao, by itself, is already a treat. It's sweet and salty without being too overpowering. The lazy chili crab dip offsets it perfectly.I'm not a fan of mami/Lomi, but their soups made me change my mind. Perfect comfort food.

AMAH KWONG'S LUMPIAKwong's is owned & managed by the people behind Spring by Ha Yuan, one of my favorite vegetarian and organic restaurants in Makati (situated very near AIM Conference Center). Spring is in fact known for its many variants of lumpia w/ their Signature type sold for only P75. Thus, Kwong's version wasn't a far cry--taste wise--from Spring. I liked how they upgraded the lumpia experience by including tofu chunks and fresh alfalfa sprouts. Generous was the serving of peanuts and seaweed, too! :) The only downside was that the lumpia was just covered on the curved parts, and not on the faces of its cylindrical shape. The result? Sauce would drip on one's fingers during each bite, making this a messy treat to consume.P.S. Similar to Bad Bird, VAT wasn't included in the prices of menu items.

Tried Kwong's Provisions during a recent run to Hole in The Wall. My friend and I tried their Salted Egg Chicken Chops. I honestly liked it, but my friend didn't. I thought it tasted well, especially how all the flavors blended together. My friend said that he found it bland, saying that it was "walang lasa." Although we agreed later on that the sauce was a bit too sweet for our liking. Anyway, it's not the best dish but I can recommend this to Chicken lovers. It's definitely a different approach to the usual chicken chops.

One of the cutest Chinese street food-themed stall. Despite the abundance of Chinese restos in Manila, this one definitely stands out from the rest. In fact, the food on the menu is pretty impressive because it crosses cultural borders. This stall doesn't only serve traditional Chinese food, but also some American-Chinese creations. Some of the combinations worked but the others turned out kind of weird and it didn't work out so well. However, I really enjoyed their Maki Mi, Soft-shell Po' Bou, Salted egg Chicken Wings, and banana nutella Buchi!

Affordable food amidst higher-priced ones. Kwong's Chinese food gives variety to the choices in Hole in the Wall. I specifically liked Amah Kwong's Loaded Lumpia which was really loaded and left me so full! M was also happy with his Makimi which can actually compare to Hayuan's, but was less thick.

It's a really bad look when Hot Star makes way better chicken chop for one third the price. Very nice cashier and quick-enough service, but to have a bone dry chicken chop with some chemically created peach sweet and sour dip for 300php is unacceptable.

KWONG'S PROVISIONS is a San Franciso Mission Street-inspired Chinese food restaurant by Suzy Lee of Spring by Ha Yuan. It's an American interpretation of Ha Yuan favorites. Kwong is the Chinese family name of Suzy. Here are our favorites at Kwong's Provisions...The Kwong's Provisions Menu includes Ha Yuan favorites like Maki Mi and Lumpia, plus some new American-Chinese creations.Maki Mi+ (P190). Ha Yuan is famous for their authentic Maki Mi, and the Kwong's version is loaded with more garlic toppings and other ingredients. The Maki Mi+ has fat noodles and thick sauce, and is big enough to share.Braised Short Ribs Rice Bowl (P270). The braised short ribs are tender with a just the right amount of barbecue sauce, topped on a generous serving of rice.Soft-shell Po'boy (P255). Our favorite--soft-shell crab fried in a signature batter, served in soft cua pao buns with vegetables and sauce.  For someone who doesn't like soft-shell crab like me, I thought this was good.Amah Kwong's Lumpia (P130). You can't go wrong with this authentic Chinese Lumpia based on the Ha Yuan original.Another Kwong specialty is their fried chicken with salted egg mixed into the batter.Salted Egg Chicken Wings (P240).  I love the crispy skin with salted egg flavor, which gets increasingly addicting with every bite. Couldn't help but finish every piece. Lazy Chili Crab with Mantao (P195).The chili crab sauce was a bit salty and a little too hot.  Recommended for those who like chili crab sauce with their fried buns.Prawn & Crab Roe Balls (P175).  Fried shrimp balls with crab roe inside crunchy skin.Fried Salted Egg Lava Pao (P110). Like mini-button mushroom paos with salted egg inside. I'm not a fan.Banana Nutella Buchi (P120).This was OK. A slice of banana and a bit of Nutella inside. It might be better to create a chocolate-filled version instead.Congratulations to Suzy and Charles for a well-executed Kwong's Provisions concept!I recommend their Soft-shell Po'boy, Salted Egg Chicken Wings, and Prawn & Crab Roe Balls. Most of their specialties are fried though, so nakakaumay at some point.

Kwong's Provision creates new twists on classic Chinese dishes. Two of our favorites were their Salted Egg Chicken and Braised Pork Rice Topping. The salted egg chicken was really good. It was even better than the one I've had at Wee Nam Kee. The braised pork was well-seasoned and so tender that it melts in your mouth.

Had the salt pepper tofu with chili chicken skin at Kwong's and quite frankly I couldn't taste the pepper (and even the salt) in the tofu. I do eat tofu but this dish was pretty disappointing and tasteless, made me feel "this is why people aren't fans of tofu" because no one bothers to liven it up. I have had well prepared tofu dishes & this wasn't one of them. But why a 3.0? Because the chicken skin made up for it.
