Lettuce Says,I had a strong craving for a good homemade tapa just tonight and instantly remembered the soft beef strands of Angus Beef Tapa of Galli Village Cafe. John and I ate at a nearby restaurant with Beef Tapa but the craving just intensified! I can still vividly recall the first time it was served to us, it looked like a simple dish as it is, but once you tasted the beef, you'll request as John did, and for what? For extra rice! No need for vinegar or calamansi with soy sauce, yes, it was that good! It was like a tapa version of Yoshinoya's Beef Gyudon. Pair this with a runny sunny side up egg with a cup of coffee and sparkling lemonade and I can definitely enjoy it any time of the day.Lettuce and John of My Empty Plates

This place has always confused me. When I used to have my own must-try-restaurant list, I would put in all the details of the restaurant, from the contact details to the bestselling dishes, so whenever I need some restaurant ideas, I could easily look at it without the need of having internet connection. One of the restaurants on my list was Galli Village Café, which was said to be located somewhere in Makati. Then one day when my mom and I were talking about it, she said that it’s not located in that busy district rather somewhere near Katipunan and I would debate that it is situated in Makati. So when Aldous invited me to join him and a few other bloggers, my question was finally answered. Galli Village Café has two branches already; one in Makati, the main branch and in Quezon City, which is their new baby.More often than not, people would display the souvenirs they got when travelling so it was a first for me to see the owners’ souvenirs in their restaurant. I’m glad Ms. Christine was there to entertain us throughout the night giving us trivia about each piece of art. Not only was I very interested but I was also amazed by how good her memory was!In accordance to the wall pieces are magazines they got in airlines as they travel around the globe. Arroz a la Cubana (P170)A few years ago, our cook at home used to serve this particular dish and I never really knew what the name of the dish was. She would serve it by putting all the ground beef at the middle of the plate while putting 2-3 pieces of sunny side-up eggs on top and surrounding them with bananas. I remember myself eating all of the bananas and an egg except the ground beef lol eventually, I learned how to eat the entire dish and turns out, I loved it! So when this particular dish was served on our table, it didn’t look as delightful but it reminded me of that home-cooked dish I had. I am very particular when it comes to sunny side-up eggs since I prefer the malasado one and I’m glad that they served it just how I liked it! :)Fish Salpicao (P230)The fish wasn’t as dry and it was relatively new to me since it was my first time to try a salpicao that wasn’t beef, was a bit spicy and was tomato-based. Something out of the ordinary yet I still prefer the traditional salpicao shown below.Beef Salpicao (P230)Of course, this has been the crowd’s favorite when eating in Spanish restaurants. It may seem really unappealing and it even looks dry but the beef wasn’t as tough as I thought. Though I must say, this isn’t the best beef salpicao in town.Paella Valenciana (good for 4-5 persons; P580)Well, this wouldn’t be a Spanish restaurant if it didn’t have paella. I love the abundance of this dish and the texture of the rice. It was good but because I was able to try Calderon’s paella already, my heart still belongs to the latter. For affordable paella, maybe this would do!Pollo al Ajillo (P170)The chicken was tender, smothered with garlic sauce and spiced up with some jalapeño. This dish turned out quite well!Callos ala Madrilena (P230)This favorite Spanish dish of mine never fails!Coffee Jelly (P40)What do we often see in Spanish restaurants? Churros, of course! However, Galli hasn’t added this dessert in their menu yet but they will… soon! I wasn’t able to get my own dessert but I was able to try it from one of the bloggers. Sadly, it wasn’t as great. The coffee jelly was not as smooth and as soft as I hoped it to be. Plus, it was a huge turn of events after all the Spanish delicacies we had. What I like about Galli Village Café is how customers can dress down and wear whatever they want to wear since the place looks like a home than a restaurant. What sets this restaurant apart from the others is the affordability of the dishes and how it can be a go-to Spanish restaurant. I am not lying that there are some Spanish restaurant that are better than Galli Village Café but what I like about this place is how effortlessly easy for them it is to cook the dishes and, even without that grand presentation, still taste pretty good. Not the best, but pretty good :)

Food is okay, but service leaves much to be desired. Try their vigan longganisa. I wish adobo was better. The place looks good, though, so feel free to take a snap for posting on IG

This is a great place for a quaint, quiet gatherings for family and friends. I just spent my birthday there with my three kids today and it was great! The staff are friendly, accommodating and courteous. The food is really great. I highly recommend the Paella, Shrimp Gambas and Beef Salpicao. The Paella is one of the best I have ever tasted! However, as each paella dish is freshly prepared, you need to wait for a while before you can eat. It's a good thing that it is just across the Sacred Heart Church, so you can hear mass or visit the church while you're waiting. But I assure you that it is worth the wait! I will definitely come back!

Great cafe! Friendly staff. My favorite is Angus Beef Tapa and Paella. I love the place, good books to read too! I ate usually lunch with my family there. My brother loves their fish fillet with lemon butter sauce, while my sister loves Beef Salpicao. Its definitely for family get together!

I hope it's ok if I share with you a wonderful experience I had at a cafe very close to the Central Business District of Makati. It's just across the street from a church that a lot of people come to on Fridays just like Wednesdays would be for those who go to church in Baclaran; these churches have regular patrons. The church is the National Shrine of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the cafe is Galli Village Cafe. Along with the Sacred Heart novena, my family also has this thing about serving fish and mongo bean soup on Fridays. On that particular Friday, I was looking for something sinful; I could confess later you know. So I headed for the cafe half expecting I'd find Daing na Bangus to save me from my sinful excursion, but lo and behold, there on the menu was an apparition of the words LECHON. Well, the word kawali or Wok was trailing behind which meant it was more decadent than roasting, as this meant pork would be soaked in fat. I always think of pork as the other white meat that is sweet, succulent and delectable. I have a suggestion though, to make it more savoury than it already is; we usually have it with liver sauce (lechon sarsa) but try it with shrimp paste (bagoong) and go all out and bust your diet. Anyway, if you're not going to heaven for it, might as well make it your most enjoyable dereliction. I pray that those times I went to the other side of the street will be absolved and that others find some pearl of great price at the Galli Village Cafe.

I ordered Vegetable Omellete for breakfast. What arrived was an omellette with only red onions, tomatoes, and carrots in it. Well, maybe they could have added more veggies to stand up for its name. The place is cozy though, good place to do some reviewing.

I texted several numbers to know how to get to their QC branch only to find out that the numbers posted were all incorrect. It was such a hassle. To rectify the situation, the one who answered me on FB provided the correct information and even invited me to their main branch (Makati) for a complimentary paella for two and shrimp gambas which I found so generous of them. However, there was a set of false expectation on their end because when I told the staff that I would like to bring home the paella the server called Miss Linda. Miss Linda said that the Callos (was offered instead because they don't have shrimps for the gambas) was the only complimentary dish. So I got confused. I then looked again on the message. It stated "complimentary paella for two and shrimp gambas to make it up to you." I just let the way they wanted.Anyway, the place looked homey. You won't feel that you are in a restau. Its just that we were unsure if the airconditioner was turned on because the place was warm. Food was well presented especially the Paella Valenciana. My boyfriend didn't like Paella at all because of his awful Paella experience way back but he loved Galli's Paella. Dessert was made of plain jelly and milk which I found too ordinary because there was no hint of sweetness in it. Their Callos somewhat tasted like kare-kare according to Bae.

I had breakfast here once and ordered All-day American Breakfast set (garden salad, fried egg, ham, bread with coffee). It was too salty. The vegetables looked dry and didn't taste fresh anymore. It tasted like "lutong-bahay" Maybe I have to try their paella or any other Spanish dish because this doesn't look like a Spanish restaurant to me.There's parking space in the area. This restaurant is part of the YMCA building in front of Sacred Heart Church.

The cafe was closed for a private event - my husband's niece's 4th birthday. The event was suppose to start at 4:30PM, but ended up starting more than an hour later. The food was fish fillet with sweet and sour sauce, spaghetti, chicken afritada, roast pork with black bean, fruit salad. The food was not delicious, nor was the service even worth mentioning. The place is very tiny, possibly good for 10-15 people (to be seated comfortably) inside and 10-20 people outside. If their service and food was like this for a big event, I don't even want to imagine what they'd be like on a more personal/intimate dining experience. Plus, this branch is in Makati, and driving to it is a headache. Sorry, Galli.
