It was Saturday late lunch time when we decided to get my OGTT (Oral Glucose Tolerance Test) result at New World Diagnostics Makati. We plan to eat at Hawker House after, only to find out that they were close during that time. We walked a bit to look for a new place and found Empanada Nation which was on Grand Opening.

I love Ilocos Empanada so I was excited to try this resto. I got the Special Empanada - 1 longganisa, veggies, 1 egg, with cheese. The Empanada was big and really filling. If I wasn't hungry enough, I won't be able to finish the whole thing. It tastes like your usual Ilocos Empanada, nothing extra special about their version of it. I also ordered the Poqui Poqui. Yes, you read it right! It's an Ilocano dish made of stir-fried eggplant, onion, tomato, and egg. All I can say is, I've had better. There's another empanada resto just in Yakal that cooks this really good. This version was like an egg omelette - the star was the egg, instead of the veggies.

Well, I find the Bagnet just average-tasting but in hefty serving. The same average taste goes with their humongously-sized Empanada, which I find too oily. The Vigan longganisa dish was basically okay in terms of taste. The place is small and is always jam-packed whenever we visit here. Reasonable prices snd the staff are generally nice.

Ordered for take out 3 ordinary and 1 special empanadas. We found that these empanadas tasted much better than the ones that we had in ilocos because they use papayas and beans in their mixture. We also like that the longanisa is lean and low in fat. The empanadas are very oily but that's expected since they're dipped in a frying machine.
