Came by for a cup of small halo-halo, Chowking's killer app. Too bad they gave up on the halo halo 'puti' - which would've put them in direct competition with Razon's and Kabigting's simple but delicious formulations. Some ingredients, like the black munggo, were undercooked and hard. Even for a small cup, the toppings felt scant. It tasted great of course, and I'm sort of quibbling.  It's a good product and I'm not knocking it.

Just a short walking distance from our office, we had Chowking's Milky White Halo-Halo, crushed ice with macapuno and sweet cardava banana most popularly known as "saba," topped with leche flan, pinipig and macapuno ice cream. It's not as good as Razon's famous halo-halo, but it's enough for beating the summer heat. The sweetness of the entire dessert is just right. The milk they used is rich and creamy. I just wish they will utilize finer ice so it's easier to dig in and can be eaten easier by people who have sensitive teeth like me. Overall, its affordable price and the convenience to get it makes it a good contender for halo-halo. I hope Chowking’s Milky White Halo-Halo will be a mainstay in their menu. I give a 4.5 for their halo-halo.By Me-An. Check out our blog, Yogo and Cream.com Just REASONABLE food, travel & etc.

Beef tapa for breakfast here tastes bad. Choose tocino instead if you're planning to eat bfast in this establishment. Less crowded in the morning.

A quick late lunch at Chowking was my best option before heading to another meeting in the area. Immediately ordered their Siomai Chao Fan (P92.00) and my all-time favorite Kangkong (P40.00).The fried rice was a meal to itself packed with pork and seasoning. The deep bowl was almost full and delicious I must say (didn't expect that from a local fastfood). As to the Kangkong, it was fresh and perfectly blanched. It retained its tasty texture and juice. Dipping it on fish paste was a good idea. It gave the bland taste a meaningful flavor. Only issue was the ventilation and the untidy feeling inside the store. Sticky floor, uncleaned tables, and trash on the floor.

I wanted a good and filling breakfast while I was at the vicinity of Salcedo. I found this Chowking in between Cafe France and Burger King restaurants. I was on a budget at that time and fried rice as my breakfast seemed like a good idea.I ordered their chao fan with steamed dumplings... however what was delivered to me was like slightly fried dumplings. I can imagine the kitchen staff making a mistake and suddenly realizing that the customer preferred it steamed. The dumplings were slightly crunchy, and the wonton wrapper, though has not bubbled was quite orangey than the usual pale white when it's steamed but it hadn't reached that crispy golden brown state. Something was definitely wrong. As usual, my sunny side up doesn't have a runny yolk. I guess they'll never get it right in fast food places. Sigh.I like some food here in Chowking, but this was a disappointment. This branch has been pretty reliable but after this meal, I somewhat had to avoid the place for now. Til then Chowking... 😑
