Unexpected yummy-ness. Ordered the farmer John's grilled cheese sandwich, eggs bene, and Molly. Great food topped with excellent service. 10/10 Will visit again.

I invited my friend to have brunch here. It's a tiny and homey café. It's the perfect place for millennial "titas" to hang out. The staff was accommodating and I think that's what I liked most about this place. My friend ordered Eggs Ben and B&Y Mocha. Meanwhile, I got Missus and Latte Gianduja. I wasn't disappointed but I wasn't happy either. I was just fine with my order. My friend was totally happy with her drink but didn't really have much of a reaction when it came to the Eggs Ben. Maybe we were just fine with everything we had and there's honestly nothing wrong with that.I'd still go back to try Cara's Fave.

Brunch places always excites me. Even though I don’t get up at the time brunch is supposed to be, I get excited over having any egg dish paired with a good cuppa joe. Add some cheese in the mix and I am one happy camper. So glad to have finally tried this brunch place in Makati where I heard the egg dishes are simply awesome. 😎

Ambience:It is a teeny tiny cafe with 4 tables, a few chairs, and 5 high chairs facing the window that features turtle-like traffic between you and La Tienda. Lighting is fine and aircon is cold as an igloo. Tables near walls have sockets. Music is very faint and subtle, a perfect combination for those who love peace and quiet. I wish I didn't spot a tiny cockroach on the floor.Bandwidth Test via Wi-Fi:Fast!Ping 16 msDownload 5.03 MbpsUpload 0.76 MbpsB&Y Chocolate:It has a nice presentation with a layer for each ingredient. Looking at it reminds of chocolate mousse. The bottom part is my favorite and I wish they gave more of it.Cara's Fave:This is now my favorite too. I've been reading others' reviews and was tempted enough to try it. It's so good! It's like a fancy french toast but so much better! The sweetness of the honey plus the softness of the brioche and mozzarella made me cry waterfalls of joyful tears, in my mind. :)

Summary of my impressions:Area: small and cozy, but can't accommodate large groups. Can feel cramped when the cafe is full. Minimal decor but is enough for great photos.Coffee: really good. The baristas know what they are serving and they definitely put care into the drinks they serve. They can give those undecided some recommendations, while they are also able to give recommendations to coffee enthusiasts as wellFood: loved it. Shared Cara's fave with friends which looked simple but presented beautifully and it was delicious. I want to try their other offerings in the future.Service: warm and welcoming. Their head barista was especially enthusiastic and gave us all sorts of recommendations when he found out we were going on our own little coffee crawl. Still, he didn't neglect serving other customers as well and was very polite.Price: coffee was at a great price for the taste; food is a little pricey, but considering their service, it's pretty worth it.Recommended for: people who want to spend some alone time with good food and coffee; cozy and quiet dates for groups of 2 or 3 people; people who like good coffeeNot recommended for: coffice workers: small number of seats makes one conscious of staying there too long; large groups; people who need to use the bathroom often (bathroom is located outside the cafe)-----------------A little more about my visit:It was surprising when we found the place because it didn't really stand out. Bean and Yolk was pretty hidden and if we weren't looking for it, I'm not sure we would find the place. It was a small place and yet they did have a good amount of offerings on the menu. Our orders were served in a reasonable amount of time as well. Most of all, it was great that the head barista was accommodating and gave us numerous recommendations, not only with their own menu, but other places where we could try great coffee. I actually only knew of Bean and Yolk because it was one of the stops in the Poblacion coffee crawl of a small group of coffee enthusiasts I found on IG. I had not a lot of expectations because I went there with only the name of the place and location in hand, but out of all the places we visited that day, this was definitely one of the top places I'd want to go back to, on the rare occasion can stop by in Makati.
