As an ardent admirer of Chele Gonzalez's cooking and of his work at Vask and for Madrid Fusion Manila, I'm proud to say I love Arrozeria just as much.I went here for the first time for a website event, and the second time on my birthday, where we feasted on their table de pates (four kinds of spreads with three kinds of awesome aiolis), their La Guapa pink sangria, and copious portions of their egg-crusted arroz con costra, which is topped with Spanish chorizo and shrimp. In the last 2-3 years, Manila has upped the ante on Spanish cuisine, more than any other. At Arrozeria, this has resulted in an exploration of Filipino ingredients - the star of which is Filipino rice - while the food retains distinct Spanish sensibilities.Other reviewers like me will tell you that Arrozeria uses tinawon heirloom rice from a preferred Ifugao supplier, as well as a Filipino-bred version of short grain Japanese rice. It is a fact that we have hundreds of rice varieties that are hard to access because of farm-to-market road issues; that Arrozeria chose our rice instead of their revered Spanish bomba rice is a sign of respect. The tinawon is used for their "al dente and thin" cooked paella, which hews more closely to the Spanish way of eating paella, but Gonzalez recognizes that local taste tends toward the "soft and wet" (i.e., slightly more cooked) kind of paella. I've discovered I prefer it on the latter side too.Whatever your preference, you'll find the abanda (with fish and seafood) is immensely satisfying, as is their callos fideua (or fideo, as we know it), made with thin, short pasta. A non-meat risotto is offered in the "remolacha y trigueros" (beetroot and green asparagus); it is elegant and tasty, topped with a local kesong puti. Meat-lovers like me loved the full, aromatic flavor of their marinated pork with porcini mushroom rice. I was never much of a sangria fan, but Arrozeria's has made me a convert. It is strong and good as one wants it to be, and lucky for me, I was not the designated driver on my birthday. We were lucky to pair it off with a complimentary amuse bouche of bread-crumb coated ox-tongue. Fireworks went off in the air when we tasted this. Skipping on dessert would be a mistake. There's a crema catalana with raspberry sorbet, and a rich chocolate ganache tart with freshly whipped cream. Coffee is a must, always a must, after such a good meal.

ArroZeria in Century City Mall has been making buzz in website haven lately. Serving authentic Spanish cuisine, where rice is definitely a must-have – no wonder everybody wanna try them.Their awesome industrial interiors and open kitchen surely gave that homey vibe. I love that they have wide windows that allow natural light. I wasn’t able to take a photo but their lightings are so cute. Taking foodstagrams are so much better here.ReigningStill Recommends:**Tabla de Pates (395php) - This appetizer is a sure hit to everyone. It has campagne, cochinillo & mushrooms, chicken pistachio & seafood terrine; with black olive, parsley and porcini mashroom mayonnaise dips. My favorite is definitely the chicken pistachio with black olive dip. Yum! But everything else are all yummy as well.** Albondigas Con Champinones (375php) - This is another personal favorite. Beef and pork meatballs with button mushroom sauce and potatoes. Every bite is pure delight!** Arroz Con Costra Chorizo Y Gambas (750php) - This is rice with egg crust topped with chorizo and shrimp. I love this dish. Specifically the part with lotsa eggs. The chorizo is nice contrast to the egg crust and the shrimp is just divine.

Once in a while, it’s okay to indulge. Some people say, “Don’t reward yourself with food.” I look at it as, I reward myself with good company and that’s exactly what I got when I joined another #websiteFoodieMeetup. This time, at ArroZeria. Party with website Foodies at ArroZeria #websiteFoodieMeetupLooking from the outside, ArroZeria looks intimidating. But once you get in, it has a laid back, albeit posh, ambiance. It’s very spacious and their door looks so chic! Their food, though, is why you’ll probably come back again and again.I don’t usually eat Spanish food so this was a change of pace for me. Rice was indeed their hero, hence, the restaurant’s name. I did enjoy their paella, but thought that their sangria was too strong for my taste. This is coming from a girl who don’t drink alcohol, so, it’s okay not to take my word for it. As for the desserts, I’m a chocolate kind of girl so obviously, my vote goes to their chocolate desserts. ;) ...

I LOVE THE HANDLE OF THEIR MAIN DOOR. Can I take that home, please? They use different kinds of rice and of course cooking methods. Risotto, Paella, Arroz Caldo you name it! :)The company tries to support local products in the Philippines. Rice came from different regions to support the local farmers. I grew up in a family who loves Spanish Food and yes Paella! This is one of my go-to Spanish restaurants. Here are the lists of what we had for dinner:Lengua Frita: It’s a deep fried Angus ox tongue coated in béchamel with tartar sauce. I liked this! The ox tongue Is so tender and not too oily. It looks like a hash brown though.Tabla de Pates: Campagne, Conchinillo and Mushrooms, Chicken Pistachio and Seafood Terrine. On the side: Black Olive, Parsley, and Porcini Mushroom Mayonnaise. My personal favorites are the chicken pistachio and seafood terrine and for the side I like the black olives. Gambas con Gabardina Negra: Ohhh yeah! Finally tried this one! It looks like a Tempura in Japanese hehe. It’s a squid ink battered shrimps with mojo picon. The shrimp really compliments with the dip and it was so good. For the Paella, you can choose what consistency you like in your paella (Al dente & thin or soft & Wet)Paella Valenciana: The classic Paella! It has chicken, rosemary, green and white beans. Paella Negra: Black squid ink and octopus. Ohh yeah! This is my personal favorite! Actually everyone loves it! It has the right amount of flavor topped with octopus. But this is kinda messy to eat hahaha! Everyone looks like they went to a Halloween party after eating this because the squid ink gives you a really nice black smile. HAHAHAPaella Abanda: Boneless fish and seafood’s. It’s good; the seafood’s are perfectly cooked and generous.Fideua (Thin noodles) – Callos: Pork, tripe and garbanzos. Didn’t like this. It has an after taste.Different kind of Sangria: I personally like the Orange with Cucumber  It really compliments with all the food we had.YAAAAY! DESSERTS!!! Torrija de Coco Caramelizada: A caramelized coconut brioche with pineapple sorbet. The dessert tastes like crème brulee in a bread pudding. Tarte de Chocolate: Chocolate tart with whipped cream and chocolate crumbs. Well-balanced flavor its not too sweet and not too bitter. I love the plating, btw! Hehe.Calamansi Semifrio: Calamansi semifreddo with mango sauce and mint jelly with tuille. I was shocked at first because I didn’t know that it was sour (Not paying attention kasi haha). But overall it was good especially if you eat it with the torrija de coco caramelizada. Overall experience was good. Service needs some improvement. Price is not bad for the quality too. Will definitely coming back Follow them on Instagram: @arrozeriamnl for more updatesFollow @CHEFFYMITCHYU on Instagram for more food/drink photos and to discover new restaurants in the metro.

Arrozeria prides itself as serving authentic Spanish Paella that uses local, indigenous rice from Ifugao to promote local sustainable farming and supporting our local produce. Arrozeria is under the same group of company of Vask Manila.Sangria is basically a mix of wine, fruits, and fruit juices served as a cocktail drink or as a punch. I like how they have different variations for their sangria, nice refreshing, and fruity.Gambas con Gabardina Negra is a fried squid ink batter coated shrimps served with a pimento sauce. It has a nice crunch at the first bite. Doc francis say its under seasoned, but for me its just at the border of being under seasoned or over seasoned. It also highlights the taste and texture of the shrimps.Lengua Frita is sliced tender ox tongue coated in bechamel sauce, breaded, and fried. A nice play of texture, flavor, and crunch that gives you a rollercoaster experience in your mouth. People who doesn't eat lengua will be happy to try this without the feel of eating 'lengua'. Tabla de Pates is a spread of different terrines with toasted bread and dips. My favorite of all terrines is the chicken and pistachio, it reminds me of chicken galantina.Paella is being served in 2 ways, either you get the al dente & thin or soft & wet. My personal favorite is the paella valenciana cooked al dente and thin. It has a nice balance of the vegetables and meat. And the best part is, the crackled bottom!!! It gives it a nice crunchy texture to the whole experience.Calamansi Semifrio is blocks of semifreddo (chilled cream/mousse) that melts in your mouth. The perfect citrus tartiness refreshes my palette after an adventure of flavor.Torrija de Coco Caramelizada is syrup soaked bread topped with custard that is torched. It resembles and taste like a bread pudding minus the richness.Tarta de Chocolate is bars of chocolate torte made from tablea. A strong bitter chocolatey flavor that is for the bittersweet chocolate lover.
