Cebu has become a website destination with awesome local restaurants and cheap finds. One of the restaurants that seem to be off the social media radar is this Asian restaurant that is known by, surprisingly, expats, as one of Cebu's finest gems. Hello, The Oriental Spice Gourmet. It is easy to miss this restaurant located along Maximo V. Patalinghug Jr. Avenue as it's huge signage simply says TOSG, the initials of the restaurant. But thanks to Waze, we didn't miss our stop.

Our OSG experience was perfect! The food was naturally good, no after taste whatsoever as its well spiced. The place was cozy. Owner/Front Manager was very welcoming, fast service, crews are proactive. For first timers, they would really give you good food recommendation. And i personally love their Cream Cheese Flan!

I have read a couple of reviews about this place and it got me really intrigued because they were all positive feedbacks. We were on our way to a wedding fair in Cordova so we decided to have lunch here. Glad we were assisted right away because we were starving. We ordered Spicy Beef, Mee Goreng, Roti, and a cup of rice. As per the person who took our order (I think she's the owner), we wouldn't need two cups of rice because the stir fried noodles was a little too much with two cups of rice. Better yet replace it with Roti. We followed her advice and to our surprise, she was right. Everything tasted good and the service was remarkable. 🖒

I had a good hearty laugh at this place!❤️We went there for lunch, we were seated by one of the waitresses. The owner immediately approached us and asked if we were first timers and if we were super hungry, in which we immediately said YES! 😂She recommended some items which were best paired with one another[i.e bak tuh teh, nasi goreng, some noodle i forgot the name sorry!]Being the "tom yum" addict that I was, I told her that I was getting the tom yum, chicken tomato curry? and nasi goreng.. to which the owner said "no! dli ko sugot, dli mo malingaw.. dli namo mamalik!" hahaha. and so we ordered the combination that she suggested..We didnt regret it!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 For first time diners, listen to the owner! 😂 she knows whats best!! Though we didnt regret listening to her, I still want my tom yum next time im back!🤣

I want to commend the extra ordinary service. I think it was the owner or manager who accommodated us and she suggested what to eat depending on our capacity to eat. She would also ask if you are a first timer and would suggest very good food according to what seems to be more likely you would love. I love it! Everything tastes so authentic. Would definitely go back. 🤗

It's our last day in Cebu during our recent visit this month and we did a mini food crawl. We went first to the famous restaurant that serves authentic Asian cuisine in Brgy. Basak in Lapu-Lapu City called The Oriental Spice Gourmet. We were greeted by their Owner/Front Manager, Mary Ann Tan. And provided us good seats while she handed the menu. She recommend the bestsellers of their restaurant for first timer like us. I am glad that she knew our eating capacity, so she just recommend what we can eat during that visit. While waiting for our order, I noticed that the Asian restaurant looks spacious and bright inside 'coz the daylight outside was reflecting to the glass wall of the place. I am fascinated with the wall art, furnitures, flowers and the lamps/lights inside the restaurant, it gives me an Asian feel. And I am also surprised to the cleanliness of The Oriental Spice Gourmet. As our order came one-by-one, we were entertained by the Owner. And we just knew that we were so lucky that they're open on that day. Sometimes the restaurant will be closed in 1-2 weeks because they need to buy their supplies outside the country.🥑 Fresh Avocado Juice for Php75.00 - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4/5"It's really refreshing, especially on hot sunny day but I will admit that it would be much appreciated with crushed ice."🐮 Spicy Beef for Php200.00 + Roti Paratha for Php50.00 - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5"I really love this TOSG's version of Malaysian Beef Rendang especially paired with the Roti. The beef was so tender. The spicy level of the dish was tolerable. It's also "bagay" with the noodles and the rice."🍜 Mee Goreng for Php200.00 - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5"The light spicy noodles with bean sprout topped with chicken, Chinese leaves and red onions was served big. It can be shared by at least 3-4 pax."🍚 Nasi Goreng Kampong for Php200.00 - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5"One of the best Malaysian Fried Rice I ever had. "Ito na siguro yung pinakamasarap na version na Nasi Goreng na natikman ko." The crispy anchovies really compliments with the fried rice."🐷 Bak Kut Teh (complimentary) - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4/5"The Pork Rib Soup was seasoned well. Its a one dish meal, "sa soup pa lang mabubusog ka na." I had an amazing lunch with The Oriental Spice Gourmet. All the food we had were appetizing and tasty... and super super super affordable. "Sobrang sulit!" It's a must try in Cebu. For reservation you can call their restaurant at 0917-3216780/ (032) 406-0914.#ilovetoeatph 😃❤

I have a ton of backlogs and I want to slowly (but surely) finish them, focusing on establishments from Cebu before I officially go back to Manila. 😹I discovered this place again because of Jp. Amazingly, even as I've been living and working in Mactan for a while now, none of my local friends actually know about his awesome hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Hahaha 😹 I've kept this on my must-visit list for almost a year now.So when MLS and EJB were in Mactan, they asked me for recommendations on good eats. I brought them to this place, and as soon as we came to the place I got a call from working asking me to come back, talk about bad timing. 😿 But I'm glad that even as I had to leave shortly after the food came it, they still had their lunch there. I read EJ's glowing review, and I think they enjoyed so yey! They were both so nice as well that they left a whole serving of food so I can also try them, and so I am writing this review. 😻1.) Spicy Beef and Roti ParathaThis was delicious! The sauce was great, it had a nice curry flavor and the meat was very tender, even as it was already cold when I ate it. I still appreciated it very much. The roti that came with it was also very delicious. 😻2.) Mee GorengJusko ansarap! The spiciness was great and exactly the way I like it. The noodles was nicely booked and the they were actually very generous with the toppings. The falvor of the stir-fried noodles was very well balanced - savory with the right amount of salty, a tinge of sweet and a whole lot of good. I really liked it! ❤️3.) Nasi GorengThis was my favorite in Indonesia, and I'm glad their version is very authentic. I particularly liked that they put crispy anchovies (dilis)! It really made the dish explode with flavor, but not too much. The rice was of a very nice texture, and the fried rice wasn't oily at all. I absolutely loved this dish! 😻I will definitely come back to this restaurant! It is such a gem in the island of Mactan! 😻

The food was delish. 100% like no joke. The owner is very approachable and for first timers, they would recommend you dishes. The restaurant feels like home because of the home style cooking. Would visit them next time and maybe we will be regulars by the time
