I admit, I'm a sucker for all things European, especially German stuff (I've gone as far as learning Spanish and German, though I've all but forgotten all that I've learned lmao), so I absolutely had to go here when I saw it on website. The interiors are really pretty and reminds me of my trips to Europe - of the quaint cafés that you can find there and all that.Anyway, I'm here to review Mehl & Zucker so let's get on with it. So for my drink I ordered hot chocolate. It was bland, and I don't think there's anything wrong with my tastebuds, but honestly it was so bland it was almost like drinking plain milk. So that was a bit of a disappointment. The cake and pastries we ordered saved our trip though. I like their opera cake, it was just the right amount of sweet. The beer pretzel was salty and a bit hard to break - though maybe I've been spoiled by the softness of the pretzel that one can find in Auntie Anne's lol. When the clock strikes 8 in the evening, they have a discount of 30% on their bread and pastries. I was supposed to get a loaf of wheat bread but didn't push through with it as it didn't seem like new stock to me. Anyway, I'm glad that we were able to take a detour as I can now finally cross this out of my list of cafés to try lol. Also, I like the interior of their washroom! Internet is fast, and service is good too. The cakes on display - especially the Chocolate Rose Gateau, looked heavenly! I would rather stare at it all day than eat it to be honest, haha.

My favorite bakery and cafe. A bit pricey for their meals but they have a wonderful selection for their pastries. Their pastries remind me of home back in Germany. They also have some of the best European breads available. I am a huge fan of their pretzels - they are exactly how they make them in Germany. I usually get their soups as a meal. Their tomato soup is really filling. A huge plus is their staff, they are really accommodating and nice. All in all, it's a great place to hangout. Plus, go there after 8pm and some if their bread is sold at a discounted price.

Mehl & Zucker (now called Bake&More) has nice interiors with an atmosphere similar to shops abroad. I've tasted almost everything in the cafe and I highly recommend that people have breakfast here. Their serving size is large and you surely wouldn't regret ordering their grilled pork sausage. It's very meaty and the taste is just right. The pastries here are delicious, especially if you love cakes that aren't too sweet. The macaroons have a bit too much cream and less flavor and could be improved. They have a wide variety of bread and you can even pre-order days ahead if you want a particular kind. If you stop by after 6pm, you'll find that their bread is on sale at "buy 1 take 1" if you're buying them to-go. The taste of their coffee is good and their selection is decent. Some of their drinks like the smoothie can be a bit pricey though. Overall I could say that if you love how the shop looks, just wait 'til you eat their food.
