Cebu, as we all know, is the lechon capital so I really had high hopes for House of Lechon.Sadly, I was pretty let down by the spicy & original lechon dishes. The lechon was not as full of flavor as I was expecting. We all felt the taste was quite lacking that extra kick. All the other dishes we had: calamares, monggo guisado, pritong lechon, were all just okay as well. They were all too salty for our liking. Best to go to another place for some real Cebu lechon.

Since we experienced their food and service at their Robinsons Galleria branch (and craved for more lechon after that meal), we went to this branch confident that we would experience the same level of quality for both their food and service. I was disappointed to say that it wasn't the case. The lechon was tasty as it is, but the skin was soft and rubbery. It was a busy lunch and we waited patiently to be seated, but not all fans outside the airconditioned space were working. Less servers were available, amidst all the people in what was a really big restaurant. It was hard to ask for service. However, the servers promptly provided our requests (a dipping sauce and table napkins) when we got a hold of them. I suggest you better go to the Rob Galleria branch if you want a more comfortable dining experience.

Carcar lechon in carcar is still the best. We ordered spicy and original lechon, taste didn’t really have any difference. It was also served cold, it would have been better if the temperature was preserved at warm to maintain the freshness of the pork/ lechon. We also ordered kaldereta, it was not the best yet worth it for the price.

First, food: We ordered their lechon, kinilaw fiesta cebuana, sisig and dinuguan. The lechon was great as usual. Sadly, we couldn't get the spicy one as we got there late (7:30PM). If you want to try it, you better go there early like 6-6:30PM to get a taste. The addition of mangoes to the kinilaw was very much welcome and balanced the tanginess of the lemon juice. The sisig is a must-try, it was beyond delicious. The dinuguan was a bit too salty to my liking. Second, ambience: It felt like there was a Filipino fiesta inside as the place was packed for dinner. The mini-kalderos and the woven plates were a nice touch. Last, service: Probably because of the sheer number of customers, most of the servers were not very quick to attend. It took us minutes before anyone could take our order and then they almost gave us the wrong items. Also took us awhile to call the attention of anyone so we could settle our bill.

One of my favorite lechon houses in Cebu, next to Rico's. The lechon and their other Filipino classic dishes are really good and the ambiance is very classy, very modern. If you have guests from out of town and you want them to try a good Cebu restaurant in an atmosphere that's classy yet casual with a price point that's affordable, this is definitely the place to go. Try to reserve though because they are always full and the waiting can take long!
