July 20, 2016 -  Dong Juan was our current destination for the  website event. Fifteen foodies and bloggers of website were invited to dine and experience the New Collection of Dong Juan!. Who would have thought of something very peculiar of putting our very owned "tablea" as toppings for our pasta and our bread - It's the dynamic resto, Dong Juan!

If you've been a fan of Dong Juan's burgers, there is something new to order from them. Their Tablea Pasta collection brings an innovative idea to the Cebu dining scene. Dont worry since the chocolate do not over power the pasta taste. Its more of a seasoning and not flavor. Also dont miss out on their pork ribs which is very tender and flavorful. my new fave is their shrimp pasta that has bean sprouts on it. That extra crunch makes a lot of difference.

Wow. I don't know where to start because I am still overwhelmed (until now) from all the delicious food I've tried at Dong Juan. First off, let me just say that Dong Juan has the tastiest All-Meat Pochero in the face of Cebu. Hands down! Another uber delish food from DJ is their Baby Back Ribs in BBQ Sauce - it has the right sweetness to it and the meat is super tender, it falls off the bones easily thus you get all the goodness and not waste any bit of meat at all. It was a magical moment with me and my pochero and BBR, I can eat it again and again and again. I didn't know that Dong Juan has so much more to offer than just burgers + fries. I love the Gambas Pasta which goes so well with the Chilli Wings. You can do away with both orders without the rice. For the drinks, I highly recommend you try Kalamansi Blush where you can imbibe the freshness of real Strawberry and calamansi juice altogether. It's a great alternate for the normal iced tea or fresh juices. Here are the other special mentions from Dong Juan's menu:Mozzarella Sticks- for starters, this is a good choice though you need to consume it asap before the cheese starts to harden.Dong Juan Fried Rice- its beefy flavor gives richness to the taste therefore if you order this, you need to pick a lighter entrè to contrast the rich flavor of the rice.Seafood Soup- it's a different take on the normal seafood soup because they add fresh egg to the soup to make the texture fuller. I like the taste but I would prefer to have a creamier soup with cream or milk to really get that creamy feel.Mug Cakes- I tried several flavors of their mug cakes (Dark Fudge, Red Velvet, Salted Caramel and S'mores) and I recommend you try Dark Fudge and Red Velvet. These flavors are very popular for dessert lovers, I bet. The other flavors mentioned were too sweet for my taste but overall, the mug cake is a must try because the cake is super fluffy and baked to perfection. Finally, Dong Juan went all the way with their new Tablea collection. These are the Spanish Chorizo Pasta with Cacao De Bola, Linguine Meatballs in Tablea Marinara Sauce and Carbonara w/ Cacao De Bola. Using pure shaved Cacao de Bola to enhance thesse pasta dishes is a great idea. My favorite is the pasta with spanish chorizo because the saltiness of the chorizo goes well with the bitter-sweet flavor of the tablea. Oh so yummy!

Started as a hole in the wall restaurant in Guadalupe in 2007, Dong Juan continuously grew and became one of the prominent restaurants in Cebu known for their burgers, pizza and pasta. Dong Juan gives you that homey and family-friendly ambiance. Dong Juan offers value for money with their consistent dishes that makes you come back for more. But Dong Juan isn’t limited only to what they are known-for, they have Filipino dishes that are a must-try like their Sisig and their Pochero.

The flavor of gambas pasta seemed to stay longer on my taste memories. Every strands of pasta are cooked to perfection and were seemingly soaked in flavors with utmost consistency. Though the sauce is oil-based, olive oil specifically, the dish is not greasy at all. My pasta feast didn't seem to end with gambas. The spanish chorizo pasta and the carbonara in cacao de bola are also my favorites.Aside from the pasta, I also enjoy munching the flavorful baby back ribs in barbecue sauce, all-meat pochero, and the chili wings.
