It's been awhile. Cafe Laguna one of the well known Resto in Cebu.. I really missed their Laing with little bit spicy taste. Sinigang na Baboy was delicious as well as their crispy Pata.. Their service was not so good we've waited for long with our orders..

I passed by Ayala Terraces and i wanted to eat some filipino dishes. Looking at Cafe Laguna, it was bustling with customers in and out so i thought it might seem a good restaurant to try on filipino food for today. Service is very good. The server was attentive enough to know that i was ready to order. Ordered a ceviche, chicken pandan and beef bulalo. Let me talk about the ceviche first, it was fair. Taste was balanced. Well soaked in vinegar and the fish slices were a bit big but overall it was fine. Rate it as 6/10Next, the chicken pandan. Usually the cut choice of chicken in a chicken pandan matters. Thigh parts add to flavors as it has fats and juicy. They served me the breast part of chicken pandan. It was well seasoned thou. Taste alright. Chicken texture was not overcooked. Rate it as 6/10.Finally, the Beef Bulalo. I am very particular about meat broth dishes. And this one really dumped out my expectations. It was VERY BLAND. Taste is very poor, beef meat is hard and tasteless. I was very happy to see slices of banana as i thought it might enchance the flavor, but nope. The bananas too were bland because it was steamed first and then soaked in the beef soup. I had only 1 slice and i couldnt eat the rest. The essence of a comfort food that bulalo gives is right outta the door. Bland/tasteless. I will come back again to give this a chance and try other dishes, perhaps my review and perception would change. But for now, it never satisfied my tastebuds. P.S. Chefs please use REAL BROTH. Not the canned broth. Try to boil bones of beef and chicken, and saute them first before boiling and add this to your bulalo broth. Thank you
